  1. I'm off work today, my kids school is closed so we are heading to Dulwich Park as soon as we are ready.
  2. DaveR you are completely right about that scenario - but the question "How are you?" is often simply an extention of "Good morning." It's the addition to the initial greeting, a way of extending verbal niceties. Unless someone sits you down with a cup of tea and asks genuinely after you, I'd usually just take it that way and not feel dishonest you respond with a happy platitude.
  3. Nice video of snowy Yorkshire from the air on the BBC website. Here
  4. We have a good view of Lordship Lane up by the Plough. There are plenty of buses out and about. 176, 185.
  5. We took a little drive over to Chelsea at 8pm last night and were surprised to find no evidence of snow! Had to point to our snow covered car to prove to the peolpe we were visiting what it's like in SE London. Just as we left to return home it started snowing again.
  6. We built a snowman on Dawson's Heights yesterday on the way home from Goodrich School. On the way back in this morning noticed snowman had collapsed. attemps to re-build on way back this afternoon failed because the snow waas no longer the "right kind of snow". Lots of youngsters sledging on the hill.
  7. X-Factor stirs the Forum massive! There are generalisations aplenty being thrown around here. Comparisons between X-factor contestants and established recording artists, whilst understandable, are a little unwise. It is only a talent show after all. I mean I went and saw my little boy perform in a school play and thought he was wonderful. Bought a tear to my eye, quite rightly - but I'm not comparing him to any great actor. the reason Matt was so good singing "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" was because it was emotional within the dramatic narrative of the show. He'd had a wobbly performance the previous week so the audience at home and in the studio were primed for a great one from him. They got it. But it worked specifically in the melodrama of the evening.
  8. DJ, you can always wear them under your thermals..
  9. I don't think BB meant that real thing - he meant the real 'man' thing as opposed to self-gratification...
  10. The Pump House in Battersea Park looks pretty good. Pump House
  11. Right result tonight. Katie ran out of her 9 lives (if you get me); The Wagner train ran out of steam. Next week Cher and Mary will go to leave Matt, Rebecca and OneD to fight it out. Matt will win.
  12. Great news! This was always a gem of a thread. Hope it is Station Manager Corner - The Return..
  13. Yep. Aiden gone, Wagner still there...come on.
  14. Wouldn't it be simpler to go back to the BBC version of the Forum rather than the ITV version?
  15. This amazing photo is apparently the largest in the world. LONDON
  16. Ratty covered in mud! Nice image - my 5 year old played "skirting-with-bog" for ages last time we were there. Got away with it for a long time until he finally run out of luck and slipped. mud all over brand new sweat-top. In the summer this area lost much of it's grass - and now it's a mud-bath. The late completion date probably has something to do with it. The grass wasn't established enough before it was opened to the dance of a million little footfalls.
  17. I'm with Felt-tip, mine usually get so tatty and battered that they end up in the bin. Wash them? Never have.
  18. Could it be that Cameron and Osborne gave Wills the nudge - the Royal Wedding will kick start all those private sector jobs...
  19. Question M2TBs: where the hell do the SA get the cash for what must be an expensive endeavour?
  20. Amazing weekend - and the tasble is very tight. Top three losing from time to time keeps it interesting.
  21. Sounded great. Carnell was even driven to facebook a comment about it. I was at a school jumble sale - so rather than watch the match I was being buffeted about like a winger in a ruck. Stil, try to catch the highlights tonight.
  22. We did a three minute 27 seconds silence - 1 minute as the Last Post was played, one for quiet thought and 1 minute and 27 seconds for Reveille. Oh and then we were silent as a stanza from the poem "For the Fallen" by Laurence Binyon was read out. Beautifully observed as well.
  23. My Mrs is a midwife and lactation consultant. see her website for contact details. verona hall
  24. The Wedding Singer - Cheese wins out.
  25. Sean, sadly I can't make it. Annoying since I had cleared the 5th, ie the usual first Friday, only to find the 12th was a no no. Would have loved to be there. Have a great time and can you get a glass on Pino for Georgia. I'll stand you a pint another time.
