  1. Yes, PGC - I'm excited. We'll win this test and with it the Ashes - and even if the Aussies come back to squeak a win in the final test we will have been the better side, winning more sessions and having loads of positives.
  2. Question is, if this is a new job for your bloke, will you know anyone else there? What happens if you don't like the event when you get there. You'll be somewhere strange, a long-haul flight away from your baby - ie no quick dash back if something goes awry. To be honest, if it was me, I wouldn't go.
  3. I too read the "Blokes Guide.." and, though it certainly had it's moments, found it was too laddish for me. Also read the Rough guide which was excellent - informative and funny. The book that had the most inpact on me was "Fatherhood" by Marcus Berkmann. Thorough and thoughtful - but perhaps the dry sense of humour a little too negative. Good luck and happy reading.
  4. This independent midwife, who is based in East Dulwich, hires them out. Verona Hall
  5. Keep wondering whether some of you checked the instruction manuals when you chose your spouses. You did realise that some models come without empathy. It's an added extra. Difficult to upgrade at later point. A lot of the smarter looking, high end range have low level specifications in the "domestic" arena. They may be living in the 21st century but they are defaulted to some 1950s outlook. Money back guarantee. Er, buyer beware!
  6. Bad luck to you snowboarder; If there is any solace to be found in numbers, well, yes, over here we are an ill household - our little one (3) has had a terrible cough-cold hybrid with accompanying drowsyness. Got the point where he didn't speak for two days and slept for nearly the entire day on Sat. This was so unlike him as he usually throws off illness superfast and is such a resiliant little soul that I ended up at the Seldoc route, (after hours service at Dulwich Hospital) on Sat eve with him just d=so that he could be seen by a medical bod. Next problem: administering antibiotics and painkillers to a determined child! Bribery?
  7. One missing snowman in ED, one missing *Bob* on the EDF.
  8. Counter to this, or perhaps to complement it, I saw some boobies drawn in the snow on the bonnet of a car in Upland road. That, or it was two bakewell tarts seen from above.
  9. Would DJKQ like a new Rabbit?
  10. C'mon Sean, you know they are only driving up and down the road to help clear it of ice to make it easier for the public services to get through!
  11. Ham on coke?
  12. I guess tigerpearl is Eva and is missing a comma.
  13. Rosie, with your " What can I do, short of defenestration?" I have a new word to post on the Favourite Word thread. This solution has been offered before in cases like this; print out this thread and leave on his desk.
  14. C,mon Arse..nil
  15. MP your "that now I'm old and closer to leaving this mortal coil..." quote made me smile. Old!
  16. And all this hassle to replace just 42" of pipe. God be Jesus.
  17. My TV List for 2010; 1. Mongrels 2. half of one bit of Late Review I managed to catch one Friday 3. X-Factor Series, Jesus, you people have time: Post on Forum and watch television. (Unless, of course, you do it both at the same time)
  18. Great to hear other's stories. Still seems amazing that we get ourselves into these positions without "thinking it through", and aren't we supposed to be an intelligent life form? Always recall the time when my missus was pregnant with no.2 and I went on red alert wondering, how the bloomers are we going to do childcare with two? Had many hectic , stressful months before that was sorted. Same with the question you ask, Ruth. Only we thought about that one a little more in time and so, despite no1 being a CS we had a planned Water birth at home for no.2 - That's the looking after no.1 sorted on that question. He was around as Mrs Citizen went into labour and then I got to put him to bed, promising that, in the morning, he'd have a little sibling. No.2 was born around 5.30am and it will always be a lasting memory for me that No.1 woke at around 5.45 and I was able to carry him downstaris and instroduce him to the baby so soon after the little brother was born. Ahh!
  19. Love to catch this film. Any ideas on where to see it?
  20. Don't like any ABBA song. detest them. Sure, I sing along to them, dance when they are played at parties and smile a lot, but that just amplifies my dislike.
  21. Test Match Special; England, Australia, Ashes, Cricket, Records and all that malarky. Keep up with acronym city.
  22. I called it last week for two to go this - wrong. Still, Mary will go tonight. She has gone as far as she can; the other four are all much more versatile than she. Thought Rebecca shaded it last night with Cher coming back as a strong and unique act. Still think Matt will win. This isn't because he is the best act but because of the profile of the voters.
  23. Can't help thinking that with the "I like biscuits" badge, Biscuits would be a great username!
  24. We usually get Sainsbury's on a Tues evening. I walked home from work this Tuesday and saw a brave Sainbury's delivery driver edging up Sydenham Hill in the snow - by the time I got home they phoned to say all their deliveries were cancelled. Walked to the Sainsbury's local the following morning and lugged back half a week's groceries on my back.
  25. Goodrich school is closed today.
