  1. Anyone have any pointers of what make/model to buy. I want something reasonably straight forward, ie the less functions/ flashy gadgets the better. Have a budget up to ?450 but don't have to use all those funds if unnecessary. Thanks.
  2. Sh*te Quids, I didn't realise it was a competition
  3. Stoke Aldermoor council estate in Coventry. 4 o'clock in the morning.
  4. "....but have never caved in." Surely you mean have never cashed in.
  5. It's not as good as last year, yet - because Matt was so bloody good singing all those girl songs and Cher was the breathe of fresh air that kept it alive as a competition all the way to the latter stages. Cher made it interesting last year. Marcus to win....if Gary Barlow starts giving him the right Motowny/Soul songs.
  6. A game of two halves if ever there was one. Glad that Rooney took news of his father's arrest so well.
  7. The evident lasciviousness of the blanket coverage leaves a nasty taste. The BBC leading with it, I ask you.
  8. OK this has now got complicated: Was going to have Ash's "1977" as a great debut - but there was apparently one before it. So I was then going to have Ash's "Free All Angels" as a brilliant third album. but because of that obscure first, that makes "Free.." a fourth album. Doh
  9. Mockers - I was going to cite Parachutes (been playing it along with Bjork) but thought I might feel your wrath or disdain!
  10. Good call but, it has dated badly - it would now be called "Back in the Job Centre Plus"
  11. Been listening to Bjork's "Debut" again recently - got to be one of my favourite first albums. What's yours? Venus Like a Boy
  12. A Rastafarian cycling through Ruskin Park - he has a can of Red Stripe in the bottle cage.
  13. MikeCG lurched into view http://jackandviv.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/troll-bank-gr1.jpg
  14. The first time she won, in 2001, was for "Songs from the City..." It's still my favourite of hers (not that I've heard them all)
  15. Congrats to PJ Harvey for winning. I haven't got a copy of her latest album so I am listening to "White Chalk" in her honour.
  16. "sheer evil and corruption which resembles something that people who lived in Nazi Germany might have experienced." What, like systematic executions and gas chambers. Blimey
  17. I would agree with a two tier system if it meant that all the most under-priveleged, under-valued and marginalised kids went to the Etons and Harrows and Dulwich Colleges with all their expertise, resources and small classes and everyone who had a happy, stable home life with supportive families and social networks went to reasonable state schools.
  18. 9.5 million views! I doubt they all got through the entire two and a half hours
  19. Great post OP. Nice to hear such a thoughtful response.
  20. According to BBC London there is some trouble in Rye Lane this afternoon.
  21. Has anyone seen "Sirens"?
  22. I don't know about Ms Diaz, but until that rain yesterday I was too bloody hot
  23. Surely, all kids should pay - and adults should be free. I mean, we would be attending simply as their carers, it's not as if we'd actually be enjoying the entertainment. (Rastamouse and the Easy Crew excepted!)
