Waddabout the Terry Venables version? Try holding a candle to that.

I should add that Shaky is most depressed about the amount of times people confuse him with me.
-
Massive fan of Shaky. I don't believe he was one person though. Does this bloke look like an insightful social commentator to you...?
-
1981+25= ;-)

"Coming from a mixed English / Bangaldeshi family that have been in this country since the 1930's" "you British people did nothing" You can't see the problem with that brummie? Without a hint of irony I would suggest that the problem that you describe is probably created by people who refer to people from the UK as "you British people" I'd like to think you're on the team, you clearly don't. If you want to stop these problems, get on the team mate.

Whilst I agree generally with the sentiment, this particular comment undermined the whole point... "They think that women are a soft touch, and we can just take the blame for the deficit". This is just rubbish. There needs to be a lot of growing up to do regarding political governance, and the first place to start would be recognising that the only money going into the system is the taxation of private workers (not public workers, they're just recycling). 40% of government expenditure is either borrowing, or paying interest on previous borrowing. If the public sector is suffering from reduced income, it's not because anyone is targeting women or black people.

Exactly, and even 25 years later it's still invading my psyche with its shitness. I should have gotten over it. I haven't. That's how shit it was.
-
Doesn't mean she wasn't rubbish. I can't imagine a book where I could have cared less about the characters.
-
I have a problem with weird. I also can't say pusillanimity. Try it. It was used to describe Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy. Whilst I don't hold with teaching Victorian chicklit to teenagers in general, that book was a particular shitter that should never have graced our existence. Everyone in it was rubbish.

No, I don't think it will happen either, I'm just mortally offended that he thinks he should. It's not arrogant, it's borderline sociopathic. There are, of course, good reasons for banning Parmesan if you're a veggie. It uses rennet in its manufacture. I think this is a sound argument, and I would respond to it and do a taste test. Thomas Mickelwright actually thinks that its cool and clever to avoid this debate, and just to prevent us from having the choice. He thinks he's a hero.

Unnecessary heating of the atmosphere (aka patio heaters)
Huguenot replied to malumbu's topic in The Lounge
As with driving a car, it doesn't need to be rational. Sometimes I just smoke to assert my right to. I don't care if it costs me seven minutes, or years in an iron lung. People who complain that smoking outside a pub makes them PHYSICALLY SICK have overcooked the omelette. I smoke out of spite. I understand the smoky house thing. I don't even smoke inside my own house. I'm the only resident. Ridiculous, but it is pongy, and I don't like the smell. It doesn't make me PHYSICALLY SICK though. It is a drug, so I guess there are pharmaceutical arguments. Mainly I just enjoy it. -
Should The Notting Hill Carnival be Extended for the month of August?
Huguenot replied to Ridgley's topic in The Lounge
Hmmm. Tarot saw me in the Bishop the other day. I got caught out for being a Pakistani. -
Umm... "so I can help but think..." 'I could care less...' And a thousand others? I don't want anyone to take it personally - it's just an observation.
-
Only coz he's already stated that's his agenda Frankie. "The quicker we understand what in Dulwich isn?t vegan, the quicker we can make it vegan!" That's what he said. Thomas Micklewright has an agenda here. He has no intention of listening to anyone, or persuading anyone. He wants to 'make' people conform. Did you know he has a campaign running to stop Parmesan Cheese in ED retaurants? Bizarre? I sound like I'm escalating, but I'm not. I'm just quoting what he's already said. I'm not having a tantrum. ;-)

Slightly restructred question, what is an authentic sauce, and why? What's the origin of BBQ sauces? Is there a momma who owns them?
-
"Now if he were trying to impose a ban on all meat products being bought/ consumed in SE22 then perhaps your comments would be more suited. " So why don't you ask him? ;-)
-
What I want to konw is, where do you go for the least authentic sauces?
-
"so I can help but think..." This is one of those wierd Americanisms yes? It doesn't make sense. The long version is "I cannot help myself from thinking.." in the sense that you can't prevent yourself. 'I can help...' means that you CAN prevent yourself, so it's just silly. It's like 'I could care less...' about something. Well, if you could care less about something, then you're actually saying it's important. The reasonable version is 'I could NOT care less..', meaning it's trivial. It's just lazy thinking, and lazy language. Yanks eh?

"Mills faxed eight pages of instructions to the hotel on what she should and cannot eat. She was insistent that Beatrice?s strict vegan diet should be adhered to" Yep. I know this. It's crazy sh*t, but I also know a lot of people like this. Probably 1 in 5 women. Probably... *scraches head*.... no.... erm.... No, no blokes at all. Just women then. ;-)

I'm a bullet headed Nazi, and you're on my list. Just as an aside, short sleeve shirts seem to be an unreasonable prioritisation of functionality over form. They may well be practical for coach drivers (beep beep beep) but should never be seen on anyone with self respect. Conversely buttoning your shirt to the neck is an unruly habit that imposes unreasonable restrictions. Don't do it. Unironed shirts are a bete noire. If you don't have two minutes to iron your shirt, don't bother going out. Kettles are for pansies. I shout at my coffee to make it hot. I do have cords, but they're too hot in Singers. xx I am, of course, a complete softie. I'm not saying that to temper my opinions. I'm just a softie. That's why I generally don't get too much grief, because those that know me are aware that I'm the first person to get beneath them if they fell. I'm proud of that ;-) -
Unnecessary heating of the atmosphere (aka patio heaters)

I think Nette is in the gang that sees smokers making them PHYSICALLY SICK. There are of course many irritants in daily life, but I strongly suspect that outside smokers are pretty low on the list of things that are going to shorten anyone's life. Much higher on the list of people who attack outside smokers unnecessaily should be bad attitude. It's going to kill you. -
*sighs* Jezza, it's not about whether or not the restaraunt complies, it's about whether some jumped up teddy bear juggler thinks he has the right to pursue this agenda. Whether he's successful or not is by the bye. Thomas genuinely thinks he has the right to make other people conform to his ridiculous perspective. The thing for me, and the most important thing, is that other people think this argument is about Foie Gras. It's not. It's about a petty extremist, who in his own words, wants to 'make' people conform to his outlook. *Bob*'s irritation (whether he admits it or not) is based on the fact that he doesn't understand why this is important to me. Neither does Ted Max, and neither does Jah Lush. You're probably scratching your own head. The fact is that some intellectually challenged arse brain is aiming to take away your choices. There's no more important fight.

Question about stars (the ones in the sky)
Huguenot replied to Thomas Micklewright's topic in The Lounge
It's called Star Walk - 5 Stars Astronomy Guide. It's a work of exceptional genius. I may just have to get myself an iPhone for this. Beautiful. -

Really cool. We can't see the ISS down here, but we do get the Hubble Telescope, and loads of space junk that the Chinese have chucked up there over the last two decades. Messy buggers. -
I'm sorry about your lack of libido, take up some exercise?
