Oh dear
-
Sounds like aa good plan, best of luck

You assured me it wasn't a wind up, so I took you at your word. Should I not have done? I'm only summarising in that post what you have said - I'm not having a go at you, so I'm not sure why you're being defensive. It doesn't matter what I think, if the summary you've given is acccurate then you've put yourself in hot water. When you asked us our opinion, you were anonymnous and the alleged offender couldn't be identified or suffer as a result. The challenge was talking to other people in the office about this who you've already said you don't trust (you said you think she's talking on the mobile remember?). In legal terms this is now slander unless you can substantiate it.

I think you're getting yourself in trouble here Medic. You have uncertain evidence that hasn't been presented to an authority, nor has the alleged offender been given a chance to explain the situation. The allegations could cost the alleged offender not only this job, but his entire career. This makes them REALLY heavy duty. You've assumed that he's a thief, and you're gossipping about it around the office. Not only that, but you appear to have shared it with someone (the office gossip) who cannot be seen to be trusted, and obviously loves office strife. I'd be getting increasingly concerned now not that I'm might lose my job, but that the alleged offender might feel he has legal recourse.

That's a pretty lame attempt at defense Micklewright. Antisocial - how do you explain that one? Rather than trying to persuade people of the rights and wrongs of Foie Gras production, you're targeting restarauters to take away the people's choice. This is antisocial - if you want to persuade people then engage them, don't try and force them. How have I ever made myself out to be a hero? When you started comparing yourself with campaigners against the slave trade. I guess ill be a martyr next if Ms Curtain gets her way, can you make it veggies gravy? A martyr? Do you see the irony of the claim and your previous 'hero' statement? Who do you think you are, the Messiah? See delusions of grandeur above. Out of interests which eateries would you like to see veggies banned from? I don't wish to seee veggies prevented from doing anything, it's you who wants to control people not me. This is a common and unsurprising tactic that reflects your other underhand behaviour. You're projecting offensive claims to create conflict and division. More importantly I've got no problem with vegetarians at all - I have a problem with people who try and force other people to conform to their point of view through deviousness and manipulation. At the moment, that only appears to be you Micklewright.

I see your point, and I'm not trying to confuse issues - but I think it's all relevant. I don't doubt the accuracy of your statements - I'm just saying that it seems silly. Communication is as much about tone as it is about word selection, this is what I meant by journalists recording 'not very acccurately' when taking notes. Similarly a memory is a 'record' of justice taking place, and this is what I meant in referring to the public gallery. I assume that in normal circumstances the majority of the population would be allowed in the public gallery in the majority of cases? This means that the only restriction on the amount of people in the public gallery is the physical restrictions of space? Hence this all seems totally inconsistent - by having a public gallery everyone is 'allowed' to know the proceedings of a case (including tone) - so the prevention of recording devices seems totally arbitrary.
-
It's a peculiar law - what's the justification? With a public gallery and the right to take notes, it seems that you are allowed to 'record' what takes place, just not very acccurately. Most strange.
-
Ah, sorry I couldn't work out what it was you wanted :-) You want to trace Eva Frangou?
-
I agree Otta. I think nearly everyone on this thread has done just that! I can't find anyone who has justified it, although I've seen a few who have rightfully questioned the honesty and ubiquity of the reports (Foie Gras outside France doesn't tend to be made this way), and the motivation and behaviour of the campaigners. Frankly I find grating righteous manipulative vegetarians to be more offensive than foie gras, and they are simply lucky that I respect their rights too much to attempt to get them banned from eating establishments. Like most extremists trying to curtail the activities of other people, they can only do this because other people don't curtail their own activities. They should think about this.
-
Clarify? I think you're on a wind up Medic. You started the thread, ignored it, and then escalated the premise. Wind up.

Ethical living at Quid's house... *Put everyone else in boxes* *Squeal 'Don't put me in a box!!'* *Tick hypocrite box*

I totally agree Otta, but that's not the way public services work. The tax burden is generally knocking around the peak that the community will accept - so then it's a question of how much gets spent on what - welfare, education, health etc. etc. If we assume that healthcare is a fixed budget, then mental health expenditure is a question of triage surely? What spending should be cut in order to find more for mental health, and what's the cost/benefit calculation compared with other healthcare services?
-
I don't think you're either TM, I think you arbitrarily and unilaterally tried to prevent other people accessing products that you disapprove of. I think if someone did that to you, you'd be outraged. You didn't seek to engage your audience or seek social agreement, you acted completely acccording to your own interests. You see yourself as a hero, and I think there is little that can be done to persuade you that actually your behaviour is narcissistic, antisocial, egotistical, and abuses the trust that others put in you. I prefer megalomaniac to terrorist or guerilla.

Where are mental health services done well?

I have a toothpaste tube of Vegemite in the fridge - been there 3 or 4 years now, hoping it will improve with age. To be fair, like a Bogan pub hopper in the Walkabout, Vegemite would probably attract interest in a low quality context.

A loss and a draw would stop England making the world number 1 slot - maxxi's is a really risky strategy....

I think the XO looks rather splendid. The only drawback is that regular Marmite is ?6.60 a jar here - making XO nearer ?10.00. A bit of a push even for a staunch capitalist like me :(
-
HP Guinness fiasco? Marmite squeezy bottles? I can't leave you feckers to look after ANYTHING, can I?
-
Marmite scandal? Where? I might not have seen it here? We're still trading the '86 vintage. If this is serious I may have to do something about it.

ha ha ha! :)) Maxxi, you'll be over the moon to discover that the good people at Oxo have answered your concerns!! As follows: Dear Mr [Huguenot], Thank you for your recent comments regarding our newly designed Oxo Cube range. As a Company, we are committed to providing our customers with quality products of the highest standards. We take great care to ensure that our products are released for sale in first class condition and we enforce strict quality controls which are in operation at all times. We can advise you that the heat sealed foil wrapping machines we use date from the 1950s and we have found that the cubes were becoming too tightly packed, making them hard and difficult to crumble at times. The trays used to shape the cubes have been adjusted slightly to make them X-shaped which allow more air into the cube and make them easier to crumble. Please be assured that the cubes are the correct weight as stated on the packaging. These newly shaped cubes are a recent addition to our range and we are closely mo nitoring any feedback that we receive. Details of your comments have been passed onto our Marketing Department. We value feedback from our consumers and all comments that we receive are taken very seriously and reviewed as part of our management complaint review. This ensures that issues are highlighted and the appropriate action is taken. We really appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention and we would like to apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused you. Regards Natalie [.....], Consumer Relations Advisor
