I once had a cooked breakfast, which it was, but there is nothing worse in the world than a cold fried egg on a stinking hangover. Well there might be, but I've yet to experience it. I guess that's about the service rather than the skills. I confess I'm most put off by the plastic tables, especially when the bill starts to grow. They give an erstaz, slap-dash quality to the place that makes it feel like a glorified canteen rather than haute cuisine (or hot food as Alan P would have it). I wish they'd do something to break up that huge back room so it's a bit easier on the eye!

Ah, thanks DM! You'd love the venue too, it's La Preghiera in Umbria. We thought about Tuscany, but it's so, you know, last year. ;-) The honeymoon's in South Africa - we're going on Safari and then for a few glamour days on the Cape. Singapore's going to be home. The attraction of the lady boys was incredibly strong!

I do like these arguments 'when my mother..' etc. etc. There's absolutely nothing that the current generation can do to right the wrongs of the past, but that doesn't mean that we're guilty of the same crime. To inappropriately drag up these issues (by way of accusation) as part of the debate is about revenge, not resolution. Likewise the point about pensions. Why the differential existed is only of fractional importance when compared with the far more grown-up and challenging question 'is this relevant to modern society, and how can we structure ourselves for the future'?. As for the 'men created it and you're a man'... well I hope never to hear such bigotted offensive cr@p again in my lifetime. You should be ashamed. Attitudes like that created the holocaust. It's a mental disease. -
Great call beth! Just checked out some of the stuff we get through the door, and they aren't legit!
-
BTW Beth, I'm terrified at the thought that there is a committee out there who decides what is or isn't legitimate sexuality? Who are these people? Who gave them the right to decide? Where do I find their edicts? What is the penalty for non-compliance? Are you to be our local representative? ;-) Only kidding! *quakes in boots and looks nervously over shoulder...*

Oh crikey! Poor old Dom! For the record everything I've read of Dom's posts support both tolerance and diversity. Bizarrely it does seem to be those who have intolerant, divisive or separatist views that rail against this poor chap the most. I take it that's because the one thing that Dom doesn't tolerate is intolerance and narrow-mindedness. [beat that for a logic hole] Incidentally please don't take this as support of dogging, which I find to be quite unreasonable behaviour. I consider it this since the nature of the thrill is the risk of being caught, and this in itself is only a 'risk' if the discoverer had the potential to be offended. Being caught remains entertaining only because the dogger doesn't consider him/herself at risk due to the offence they've caused the passerby, which is reliant on the compliance of passerby with unaggresive social conditioning. Hence the dogger is deliberately causing offence with no chance of come-back. So, if you can work that one through.... dogging is the equivalent of punching people in wheelchairs. Neither perverted nor filthy, but pretty disappointing.

So Muttley reckons it isn't genuine, and rattipuffs reckons it is? Ratty - you work in this field, can you give us any idea about who the real ones are, and how we identify them? I do have enough tea towels to clothe an elephant now.

:)) too late snorks, I saw it!! ;-) Youth drama workshop was also a smashing way to start cracking on to cute girls and drinking martini rosso at the age of 15.

Chuckling out loud I think, which would make it more of a chortle...

Photography enthusiasts. Wednesday 4th April, Clerkenwell

Mockers uses a 30D, but I'm sure he could tell you all about that! A good new entry level DSLR is the new Canon 400D (all reasonable bells and whistles are included in the full kit). I use it's pre-precursor the 300D which takes great photos still! 'Which' recommends you buy the 350D which is ?150 cheaper and they feel it's better all round. Those are the ones to compare directly with the a100 The 30D's twice the price, and likely to be superceded by 40D later in the year so prices might drop (and I'll get one then!) I'm not personally familiar with the Sony a100, but Which is pretty firm that it's behind the Canon and the Nikon D50 If you like the idea of buying from a shop (so you can return if there are any problems), Jessops can usually be persuaded to come pretty close to a price match with prices you can find online if you take the print out in. I normally get my stuff online and best price / reliability rules. Amazon's pretty good. -
Lol :)) Used to tread the boards myself, in the day... resting is the sport of kings. Have no fear, MadWorld74, we are as one. *toes the floor, elegantly points at tree, skips, turns aaaaand flounces off stage right*

ooooh, that one's got swanky windows :) -
Good heavens Domitianus, was that a copy and paste job then? I always thought the words were your own ;-) I guess I'm media, but I've left plenty of examples on this site of that smack of polarised, politically incorrect, proto-fascist tendencies with a discinclination to redistribute the wealth...

Hmmph. I'm not paying for two of those! ...give an inch they take a mile... ?20 pledged: we need twelve more at a tenner each :)) -
The self-serve tillsaren't a teckie issue it seems - as when I go in there if the queues become excessive (ie longer than 8 per till) they do open them. I reckon it's technology / user interaction that's the problem - otherwise known as a good excuse to shoplift!!

High-density housing in East Dulwich?
Huguenot replied to timtim's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Good man Richard, I must say that if those blocks at the top of Oakhurst Grove opposite Goose Green are a good example of four stories then I'm well pleased. I thought that was a great development in line with the local area. Unlike the affordable housing opposite the Texaco garage, which was particularly untalented! -
*dances through with candy stripe trousers, floral waistcoat and straw boater* *two-tone shoes flash through a tap-dance number worthy of gene kelly* *attempts final flourish, trips on shoelace, staggers to recover but catches toe behind opposing ankle* *one stagger... two stagger... and in the pool*
