  1. Spotted...inspector on EDG.
  2. They haven?t considered disability or poverty in their assessment, just middle class cycling lobby groups, from wealthier areas and I speak as a middle-class cycle owner (need to cycle more, but EDG just scares me!), who has driven a car about twice in the last 10 years.
  3. I love walking, cycling, running. I love trees and clean air. I love working with students, teaching cardio respiratory health. I don?t like my road becoming the dustbin of other people?s cars. If everyone in an LTN was banned from driving down EDG I?m sure they would soon think about a more effective, less divisive and rational plan to reduce pollution across the WHOLE borough.
  4. Rivers of London books on audible, narrated by the amazing Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.
  5. EDG could easily have a widened pavement and cycle lane, so also could the junction, it is just very badly planned, if the island moves over a bit of course a cycle lane works. We are not against less traffic and cycle lanes we are for less traffic and good planning. Southwark planning is useless and causes more pollution.
  6. She was great and has had a Labour Councillor wishing her a ?place in hell?. A cult!
  7. They are so tied to LTNs that it is like a cult.. no reasoned argument or proof of increased pollution will change their group-think. I imagine if people started dying or pollution related respiratory conditions it would be a case of ?bedding in? ?traffic causes traffic? or the latest sent to me on Twitter ?nonsense?.
  8. We need to do this
  9. Wow, what a mess! The electoral college is an insane way for a democracy to work..... still we don?t have PR, so it?s a bit messy here too really..
  10. It?s almost as though Southwark Councillors in areas where there are LTNs have a private vanity project rather than a global view of the area. There is very little evidence that LTNs improve pollution across the borough, in fact idling traffic creates more. Unfortunately they really have made up their minds and are unable to listen to any one else. ?Wait until it?s bedded in? , ?it?s because there are roadworks? Only solution is a campaign and the courts. Sue Southwark for making certain roads toxic to residents and endangering health.
  11. Another morning of idling traffic, pollution and misery on EDG...children, joggers, cyclists and residents all enjoying the fumes, pollution, noise and the misery courtesy of Southwark Council.
  12. During half term the traffic was less awful, schools back and it?s just terrible out there. A good balanced article in the Observer mentions Rosamund. She campaigns for clean air for ALL. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2020/nov/01/car-free-neighbourhoods-the-unlikely-new-frontline-in-the-culture-wars?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  13. Well..... EDG this morning...an utter disaster. Idling traffic from LL all the way up. If you are waiting for the 42 or 37 bus...live in hope. All pumping out fumes as they sit in traffic and children walk past to school.
  14. Well I do understand science, because I am a scientist, a specialist in cardio respiratory health. Hence I support anything that reduces asthma in children, especially children from poorer homes living on polluted roads in London. Rosamund is against LTNs for this exact reason https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/mother-of-a-nine-year-old-ella-who-died-from-fatal-asthma-attack-hopes-inquest-will-save-future-lives/. Her daughter died of asthma and she lived on a polluted road. Anyway .... Back to cycling - I think in London separate cycle lanes are the only scheme that will make me feel really safe. There are just too many bad car drivers out there. Do you remember in the first lockdown, less cars, but people were speeding and there was some terrible driving. Sometimes even when just walking the driving scares me, when I cycle I?m scared all the time!
  15. Calton road, no schools, houses 2-3 million, lower than the national average of BAME residents. A car park for the wealthy. I imagine those Chelsea Tractors, Mercs, BMWs drive down EDG...
  16. East Dulwich Grove, schools, high density housing, higher percentage of BAME residents than the national average
  17. Thanks for voicing my concerns, it is unbelievable that a Labour Council is putting in schemes that benefit the wealthy streets with fewer schools to the detriment of the poorest streets with the most schools.
  18. LTNs don?t work, I see that during the school run and cyclists are on the pavement down EDG, also the pavements are a disgrace. The polluted road also means walking is unpleasant. Protected cycle lanes, secure cycle parking and wider pavements are the answer. When I go in to the Uni, I walk and then get a train and walk again, but if there was safe cycle lanes I would cycle all the way. If EDG and LL had protected cycle lanes and secure cycle parking, I think far more people would cycle. All that the LTN does is put me off cycling along my own road. I know of one cyclist who has left her cycling group as she was getting harassed and bullied for being against her local LTN. In reality many people against LTNs are in fact pro-cycling and want less cars on ALL roads.
  19. Oh he is lovely...glad he is home now 🐶
  20. Tier 2 is so confusing.... in terms of virology and modes of infection it makes very little sense to me. I like the EDT and the Nuns Head.

  22. Serena if you stand as a councillor in ED covering EDG I will vote for you....
