  1. There has been an improvement in terms of soot related to wood and coal burning, but a rise in particulates and noxious gas associated with vehicles. Data has been poorly collected and consultations across boroughs have ignored guidelines. It is a matter of life or death and I personally as an asthmatic do not find anything amusing or funny about this subject.
  2. The thing is that it isn?t a joking matter, people are being lied to about how LTNs improve air quality across the borough and people die as a result of an increase in particulates and NO2 levels. So tied, and dedicated to these lies that they cannot see or hear the truth.... even when a clean air campaigner such as Rosamund is highlighting the facts.
  3. Could Southwark Council be accused of structural discrimination... I think so.
  4. Can?t sign in to sign the petition, although I can sign into mySouthwark... so if that is happening to me there may be many who want to sign...who can?t.
  5. They are actually lying about failure to deliver. Package not delivered due to ?unaccessible driveway? ... I don?t have a driveway!
  6. The Dutch estate parking at the back is always half empty and the on street parking has reduced since the parking fee, one of the street parking on one side of the road could easily be removed and the pavement widened to be a pedestrian/ cycle ?lane?, this lane could also go down Calton and Townley and the LTN at the top of Calton removed. The half used Dutch Estate parking could easily take some overflow from EDG resedential cars. Encouraging cycling in this area is more helpful than diverting even more traffic on EDG as the LTNs currently do.
  7. The underground rivers of South London - diverted and constrained, along with too much hard landscaping. Dulwich Park was also redesigned as a flood plain to protect Dulwich Village property.
  8. No, I just try and vote for a government that will give them a pay rise, decent working conditions and appropriate PPE.
  9. Cyclists currently use the pavement as well as the middle of the rd when the traffic is at a standstill on EDG during school rush (non lockdown) so it?s needed.
  10. Would love a cycle lane on EDG
  11. Maybe have it as a EDG residents association base and build a nice big nursery on Townley Road?
  12. Serena is absolutely right, that junction is dangerous, but Southwark messed up the positioning of the pedestrian crossing just up from that junction and the Townley Rd/EDG junction caused an uplift in idling and polluting traffic as soon as it was put in. They need a new planner.
  13. This is something Southwark Council needs to be congratulated for..... more trees please 🌳
  14. You still have to drive down EDG to get to the LTNs, so the traffic will increase on EDG.
  15. Go out to buy essentials ... otherwise stay at home. We are all bored of it, we all want to have fun, we all want to eat nice tasty pork buns, but the selfish and thoughtless actions of some people will cost lives. Yes, this Government is useless and yes the message has been confused and mixed, but we all know what we should be doing. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/jan/10/london-hospital-trust-cancels-urgent-cancer-surgery-covid-barts?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  16. This Government has defunded mental health services over the past 10 years. There has been an extreme shortage of acute and emergency ?beds? for children and adults in London for years. I have been campaigning for these services to be increased so young people in London are not transferred 100 of miles for an emergency bed, but....the current issue is there will be NO emergency beds for anyone ...acute or chronic in 14 days time. So yes, I do worry about mental health issues, I worry about my burnt out colleagues at King?s, GSTT, Barts, Georges, Imperial...I worry about my friends with risk factors who haven?t seen anyone for a year. But it is about access to care. Don?t break a leg, don?t have a stroke and don?t get diagnosed with cancer.......
  17. There is no baseline data, but also the dangerous particulates that are caused by vehicles (including electric cars) have never been measured by Southwark council. These particulates have now been implicated by research healthcare scientists, as causal factors for cancers, heart disease and developmental lung disorders due to inflammatory processes. So I plan to move from EDG as soon as I can, as Southwark appears to not give a flying shit about the health of residents living outside of the nice, cosy LTNs.
  18. I chatted on line with my partner Trust Education leads last week...all working in Cardiology, we ?joked? that we were going to be careful when cooking, running, cycling etc.why? Because if you break a leg, cut your hand or are in an RTA, treatment or surgery will be delayed, even as an emergency to save a limb as there are NO recovery ITU beds available in London... and if you have children...be warned, paediatric ITUs are now Covid wards. So please stay home, wear a mask and DO NOT SOCIALISE outside of your household group.
  19. Dear James, Has the pollution and traffic increase of the new mega-nursery on East Dulwich Grove been assessed? How will the increased risk to health from NO2 and particulates caused by increased traffic be mitigated and will any compensation be provided to residents of EDG for the increase in pollution and noise be given.
  20. Great ...more traffic on EDG! Every one deserves clean air. Even those of us not living in a LTN.
  21. My colleagues in the NHS are at breaking point. My best friend was called on NYEve to call around his team to ask for volunteers for the intensive care unit .... to help prone patients and act as assistants to the ITU team as they were so short handed. I?m so glad that people had access to a nice pork bun! Seriously 😑 I don?t blame the guys selling food on the stall...it must be hard if that is their only income. The Government should pay people to stay at home, if you can?t pay your rent or mortgage you can end up homeless...which won?t help the NHS as it increases morbidity and pressure on health services. But.....Southwark need to work within the crap parameters that this incompetent Government have given us. I think making masks mandatory if people want to run stalls and shop in the market is a good compromise.
  22. Dreadful traffic on East Dulwich Grove right now, standing traffic from LL up to the lights, horrid for cyclists, horrid for anyone walking, horrid and dangerous to residents, must be due to road works, Christmas tree sale, it being Friday...um....
  23. My reality is across 35 years of living in the same street and flat. There was a noticeable difference in traffic on EDG after the LTNs. All I am asking is for Southwark to monitor the air quality on this road and other roads that now have more traffic, which regularly idles during the school run. It is not about being disgruntled about car access to roads as I walk or use public transport, it about not subjecting vulnerable residents to elevated and illegal pollution. The hypocrisy of people who own more than one car, who live in a LTN, but call someone like me to be pro-car and not caring about the environment is astounding. Rosamund Kissi-Debrah, who?s daughter Ella died of asthma is an activist and campaigner for cleaner air for Londoners - she believes that LTNs push traffic onto resedential roads with higher density housing and all the issues that accompany such housing. Southwark needs to start measuring and monitoring car exhaust pollution..no excuses.
