Big impacts with proposed > school entrances, building routes, phasing. Yeah...well...be careful what you wish for! It's a big patch of valuable real estate. KO a school (which are generally awesome to live next to) and you could end up with a much worse development.
  3. I wish I had read this these before I went! On the plus side, the wait staff were very friendly and tolerant of our child who was I admit being slightly annoying. On the minus side, they only had Peroni beer (there are only two on the menu!), they got our order wrong and it took them half an hour to prepare our food, and only after hassling. Also, our order was eggs on toast (1 slice for almost 8 quid iirc!) and a burger - so nothing very complicated at a time when the were only a couple of people drinking tea. The snooty comment about not allowing punters to add hot water to their tea because the chef had already calibrated the right dose was a bit odd too! The decor seems to be tipping from shabby chic to just shabby... Overall it seems like a wasted opportunity which is a shame because they were very nice.
  4. This is a great idea and very generous. I'll be along! You might also want to post this in the Brixton or London sections of the Urban 75 forum. Apologies if that is obvious!

  6. I got a really nice Zara shirt in perfect condition for peanuts in there recently.
  7. Well said mate Now if you can just PM me your address I'll be around tomorrow morning to practice my latest musical tribute to London outside your bedroom window. It's called "WorldCityLife" and features me on bagpipes, 25 steel drummers, a Tuvan throat singer and a pair of duelling didgeridoos. You're gonna love it!
  8. A lot of outraged people who apparently don't own coffee shops, don't say anything to coffee shop workers and don't say anything to the people outraging them...
  9. I notice that PPS's account "doesn't exist or has been deactivated".
  10. Is the GAA hurling? The Castle is showing some games (and was showing the Ireland-Georgia match tonight).

I'd imagine they're travellers, the cops have decided it's a civil matter and none of their business (and tbf that's usually accurate at law), and somewhere a landlord is trying to get a court order to regain possession of the land.
  12. They were around earlier in the week too. Interestingly (!) they seem to have clamped one old shed for having no tax, then come back, removed the DVLA clamp, and allowed the council to stick one of its "abandoned car, will be removed in 14 days" stickers on it
  13. Ratty: do you have any links on that? I'm supposed to be doing something in electricity in a similar vein soon. Cheers
  14. The one in the Village next to the stocks was a Jet service station. Petrol stations closed because the margins on fuel retail are minimal - ISTR it was about 1p per litre at some point. And consumers are so price-obsessed - I can't think of any other commodity about which people care about price right down to a tenth of a penny! The petrol stations that survive now do so are really just convenience stores - the petrol is just a way to get people through the doors.
