  1. Claims against policies, surely... Also, not every burglary of an insured property will result in a claim because some claim values won't exceed the excess. So possibly SE21 is more likely to be insured and moe likely to have expensive things stolen

Penguin68 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > http://www.standard.co.uk/news/box-junction-cut-do > wn-to-size-6984361.html You realise that that article doesn't substantiate anything about your claim that councils create restrictions to raise revenue, right? And that all you've done is make the same claim over and over again without any proof?
  4. I know this is Peckham not East Dulwich but there is a fair chance many of you EDers work, trade, live, shop or travel through Peckham...so you might be interested in an upcoming meeting about Peckham's future: ~~~ 9+ 6 Peckham Vision Early notice of a public community meeting for EVERYONE who lives or works or trades in Peckham: WEDNESDAY 27th JANUARY 2016 3pm drop-in to discuss Peckham planning issues 7pm - 9pm public community meeting @ CLF Art Cafe, Bussey Building, 133 Rye Lane * What is your vision for Peckham? * What do you want Peckham to become? * What do you think of what is happening now? This is an important opportunity for local people to say what they think to influence what is happening to Peckham. The New Southwark Plan policy team from the Council will be present to hear about your personal visions for Peckham. Please put this date in your diary and pass the information through all your local networks. Make your own Facebook event page using the info from this post. If you have any contacts with young people, of any background or heritage, who have views about Peckham encourage them to come. This is a great opportunity for them to say what they feel about what is happening to Peckham. If you are part of networks of local people of any background who have views about Peckham but who don't normally come to planning meetings, tell them about this as well, and encourage them to come! PURPOSE OF THE MEETING The Council is consulting the public on their New Southwark Plan (NSP) which is the key planning policy document used in planning decisions for the next 15 to 20 years. Part of the document will be a vision statement for some neighbourhoods. Peckham is one of these. At this stage they want to hear from local people about what they want in the vision statement for their neighbourhood. We are arranging the community event on 27th January to give a wide variety of local people a chance to say what they want for Peckham. If you or anyone you know have views about some of the burning issues about Peckham's future, this is the meeting to come to, to give your views, and influence what happens. ABOUT THE NEW SOUTHWARK PLAN Other parts of the New Southwark Plan document, about planning policies, are also out for consultation, and comments have to be made by 12th February. The draft document for the consultation is here: http://goo.gl/2hifdf. The plan covers a large number of policies. You do not have to read the New Southwark Plan or give comments on it to come to the meeting on 27 January! But if you do want to read it, we have produced a guidance note for some further information on this, how to find your way around the document, and some information on policy issues of current concern in Peckham. You can see that here: http://goo.gl/9sszYb You can get further guidance on these matters, get some of your queries answered, and discuss your ideas about how this Plan affects Peckham, at Peckham Vision's shop in Holdron's Arcade, 135a Rye Lane and open 2-4pm on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons, as well as from 3pm at CLF in the Bussey, 133 Rye Lane before the community meeting on 27th January. You can also email [email protected] with your queries and your suggestions Www.peckhamvision.org https://m.facebook.com/PeckhamVision/photos/p.1045201152169414/1045201152169414/?type=3&theater
  5. I love when a story has a happy ending!
  6. Go on then, OP, what profit does the CPZ make?
  7. Why should there be a consultation? You'd need a lot of tickets issued every day to make a profit on a camera like that. They cost a bomb to install and operate.

  9. Not to pile on, but there is also a large "no right or left turn" sign by Kinssle Rd, and all the green lights in the traffic lights are green straight on arrows.

  11. I see from the freshly-delivered London News (the Lib Dem megaleaflet) that the Lib Dems are calling for football clubs to pay for police attendance at games. Do police attend DHFC? And if so, how much will that cost the club?
  12. Come on - it's literally opposite the Barclays, it neighbours the Co-Op and it's a few steps down from the recently upgraded post office, all of which have free ATMs.
  13. Can't believe there's been so much discussion of Whitby without any mention of its status as a Mecca for goths! Didn't any of you spend your teenage years wearing black, drinking cider and ostentatiously reading HP Lovecraft?
  14. Gutted for renovation or gutted by a mob of pitchfork-wielding foodies?

On one hand I'm impressed that you have such confidence in the mighty mighty Hamlet's footballing prowess that you think them being promoted and having a 500% increase in attendance is a realistic proposition. On the other hand: there is no unreasonable behaviour by the club. If by some miracle the club became much more popular, the. I'd suggest the council looks at what happens at Fulham, Chelsea, (Old) Arsenal and Crystal Palace - they're all much bigger clubs whose grounds are located in residential areas. What kind of modernisation of the PA are you talking about? No one has suggested the PA is defective or obsolete and that causes unnecessary noise. The complaints are about brief announcements at the end of home nighttime games during the season. TBH this whole discussion is laughable. Go and whine to Southwark residents who live on the Wally Road or Elephant & Castle or on estate where one dickhead plays music incredibly loud all the time and they'll tell you what real antisocial noise is!
  18. I noticed late time I was there that the menu says their baked stuff comes with "French butter and Christine someone's jam", but what I got was a patty of Irish butter from Brake Bros (or some other catering company) and a little jar of Bonne Maman. All the same to me but if you're going to make a point of saying it's x then you really ought not to give y...

People seemed to be voting with their feet there...also, Ken's and Olley's aren't far away, and there's Semas Fish Bar that is busy, good, friendly and has always cooked the fish fresh. Also the one on North Cross Road which is okay. But I'm sure the market will tell us... For my taste, LL could lose a couple of the ropey Indians, two of the kebab houses, the fried chicken place and the unimpressive Chinese place and bloody Cafe Nero but obviously (and happily) not everyone agrees with me.

It's simply not realistic. 2) you should be happy to live next to a football ground. There's time-limited noise once or twice a week during the season. The other 6 days and 21 hours of the week nothing's happening and no-one can build anything there. I've lived above a Chinese restaurant, opposite a bar and a McDonalds, and on a busy shopping street. Now they were noisy from the sounds of people coming and going but no-one would have suggested that catering, public transport or shops should all close at 7.30pm. If people moan about the football, I'm sure some dodgy developer can be persuaded to build a retail park and some cheapo flats on top of it if the right councillors can be persuaded (PS Southwark popped up recently in Private Eye's Rotten Boroughs column). Then you can look forward to being woken at 4am by deliveries to TK Maxx and the smell of Subway. 3) your "shouldn't be allowed to move up the leagues" comment is loopy. You're in a hole. Stop digging.
  21. Yeah, I agree. Some people on here get themselves into a right froth about there not being a tube but public transport doesn't begin and end with tubes. There are overland stations all over the place, good cycle links and a ton of bus options. Moving the final bus stop of one of those routes 150m north isn't the end of the world.
