  1. I would have thought it would be the chickenpox vaccine affecting her in some way i.e. if she had this 2 days before symptoms started. Or it could be something to do with mixing cow's milk with formula? I've never heard of this so if you've just finished doing this and gone back to formula, could this be why? 14 month olds are so unpredictable with their poos/digestive systems.
  2. In answer to your question Silverfox, the ED community WILL be put out by the demise of this hall. Just because you've "never set foot in it" does that make a difference? Did you ever set foot in the Dulwich Club which existed until it was closed down? This was a thriving social club for the ED community and beyond until it was closed down. It was hidden behind what is now some cul-de-sac private buildings next door to the toy shop (soup dragon)? which has the shoe recycling bag outside. Opposite the hardware store. My family, friends and people living outside of ED all came to this hall every week and just for social occasions during the early 70's and beyond. This was up until around 10-12 years ago when it closed down. I can still remember the shiny ballroom light hanging going round as people danced.
  3. James Barber - the first sentence of your posting at 8.58am today didn't really make sense - what were you trying to say? By the way, I went to a social evening event at the hall a few weeks ago and was told it would be one of the last for 5 years. Before this I'd only been to the jumble sales and my Mum to the line dancing so it seemed a shame.
  4. abilou - Hornimans, Surrey Docks Farm or just the local park on a Friday morning?
  5. Couldn't your health visitor or doctor refer you to a Speech and Language Therapist in Southwark?
  6. Any kind of sets of keys, small books, happyland people figures from ELC hold their attention. Other than that, hope he sleeps a lot throughout! Good luck.
  7. Didn't know 'maternity nurses' existed really until now - wouldn't they just be a live-in nanny on hand to help with feeding/sleeping? How did our grandmothers/great-grandmothers cope after the birth of their 6th, 7th, 8th child? And without all the mod cons we are used to today.
  8. Hi busymum - Casino Avenue is literally 10 minutes walking distance from the DV school so it's not that far. Dulwich Hamlet state it as 12 minutes walking distance from Casino Ave so the DV school is just before the Hamlet. Saying that, I know somebody that didn't get her child into DV School last year on Casino, so I suppose they can take more kids this year.
  9. James Barber - "their you go Tiger Ranks" Their should be there.
  10. Googled Marmora rd and it's probably because you have a golf course, brenchley gardens and camberwell old and new cemetaries on your doorstep. It's the foxes habitat.
  11. Does your friend tell her son that it's not nice behaviour, and then get him to apologise to other child? If he is articulate and intelligent, saying "sorry" helps.
  12. Yes, they have navy skirts.
  13. Depends on their age but All Fired Up, The Transport Museum, Hornimans, Battersea Zoo but other than that the local park/adventure playground?
  14. Your daughter is settled at her childminders 3 days a week. Why move her now when she isn't yet 2? I would decline the nursery place if you're not 100% sure and re-think again in 6-8 months time. Your daughter will learn just as much with you and her childminder during this time.
  15. Would agree with jollybaby. Your cat will know they will have to use it in the end!
  16. Seen a few actors/actresses in Sainsburys, DKH, over the past few years. Spotted one at the check-out on Friday and I just can't place her - she has short blonde hair and is in a detective kind of series I'm sure. Since found out her name is Clare Holman.
  17. There's a Stay & Play session at the Crawford Children's Centre, Crawford Road, SE5 between 10.30am - 2.00pm. Phone number is 0207 274 8543 to check if suitable for 10 month old.
  18. There is another Stay & Play at Bessemer Grange next Thursday 18th (10.30am - 1.30pm) According to the timetable I have this is the last Stay & Play session at BG. After that Thursdays are the Childminder drop-ins.
  19. I always wrote numbers in shoes, wellies too and hoped for the best. It worked a couple of times.
  20. It wasn't all smug sugary-sweet early shows, there was some Rolling Stones etc. We all go through phases and the punk era wasn't one of mine even though friends of mine went through it! I was more into Lovers Rock.
  21. All of the above and The Very Hungry Caterpillar and My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes have been favs with 18+ months and all the various Ladybird books like Things That Go and On the Farm and People We Meet but the list is endless really.
  22. A lot of the songs are naff now I suppose, but I love watching it to see the hairstyles/fashion and dancing!
  23. Three Degrees on now - when will i see you again. Remember a few years ago my sisters and myself performing this at a karoeke (wrong spelling)! Now Hot Chocolate - I believe in Miracles. Been watching Suzi Quatro, Rod Stewart, The Osmonds and Crazy Horses - remember coming home from school at lunchtime and playing this on my records with my sisters. Didn't know that George McCrae who sang Rock Your Baby was in the U.S. Navy but his first love was music. He'd performed since he was young and had one last go with Rock Your Baby which became a worldwide hit.
  24. I would just use the bags and leave them by the side of brown bin. Wouldn't put then in green bin - the refuse collectors wouldn't be too happy.
  25. Childminders do need to have written policies - safeguarding/child protection is one of the compulsory ones. Copies of policies etc. have to be given to parents to read, then sign, then they receive a photocopy. Ofsted do have to see copies of all these.
