  2. I would phone around the nurseries in your area but have you considered a childminder as your baby will only be 8 months old?

  5. Of course the poster can park where she likes but I thought she came across as quite self-righteous. dawn points out that "while parking is not permit only King's staff will continue to park in a convenient place". Convenient for her. Just a thought about the car vandalism. How do people in the street know she works for King's? That might be good for her, for now, (parking) but where would she park if it was permit parking only then? dawn probably doesn't realise that she (not her individually) is probably going to bring about parking permit only in Grove Park. Then it goes on to the next street, and so on, until we are all having to pay to park where we live.
  6. There used to be one at The Griffin sports club in Dulwich Village but not sure if still running. Phone 0208 693 2330 to make sure.
  7. I don't agree with notes/vandalism but you've also got to see it from the point of view of people who live in the street where you are parking surely? King's staff work very hard for the community so why don't King's provide free parking? My husband drives to Hammersmith some days if he's on an early shift and there's no buses/tubes. He has a workplace carpark. When he comes home it can be a nightmare to park and for other people in the road who have young children, heavy shopping and have to traipse a long way from their house, sometimes streets away, and yes we live a 10 minute walk from King's. I don't think anyone can question owning a car just because we live in London really.

  10. I've never had a problem with it either and been using it for around 10 years. Was there in the Easter hols to watch 'The Hunger Games'.
  11. Sue - I can't see how going to Peckham Cinema is a really depressing experience, especially if your watching a good film! I don't know how much the Ritzy is but if there's 5 or 6 of us going to the cinema, you have to budget. We've often been to Streatham or Surrey Quays but they're further afield and much more expensive.

  13. Yeah, looks like Southwark Council are going to concentrate all their funding on Burgess Park now, after neglecting it for years and cancelling a measly ?52K from Peckham Rye. Still, Southwark Council have kept our council tax the same, but are going to increase everything else from library charges to car park charges next week. Read in the South London Press this week that Rye Lane and the Peckhamplex Cinema are really struggling because there's nowhere to park. This isn't helped by the fact that Southwark are increasing the Cerise Rd car park charge from 80p to ?1 an hour as from next week. When the cinema has gone, it's gone!
  14. Looks like the weather will be sunshine and showers - good luck to all the runners!

  17. Sure there was something on here a while ago (months) about this. Southwark Council won't fund the Irish Festival on Peckham Rye anymore.

  21. Reading on the forum and it seems like lots of people have problems with moths in the house. As long as you have spiders around they will solve the problem? If you have moths in your carpets, curtains and (god forbid) bed linen then you have a big problem!

  23. Thanks for clarifying the word "peeps" Voyageur - when I googled it last night it came up as marshmallow candies sold in the USA. Asked my son this morning and he gave me the answer, looking at me as if I was mad. Then again my teenagers don't understand some of the words and phrases I come out with that I grew up with!
  24. Hi computedshortly - the photo you have pasted is great - the observatory on the left is now where Bessemer Grange Primary School is. The school is named after Sir Henry Bessemer, a great iron manufacturer many years ago and also has a ship named after him. On the right of the photo you can see a man walking. To the right of him is where the land is that Tom Disco is talking about.
