  1. There's nothing you can do about it as it's their way of communicating, especially in the mating season.
  2. Good point but I think you'll find 4am is the prime time for foxes making a lot of noise (everywhere).
  3. Just what I thought when I saw Junad's first posting!
  4. Now I know they're not just watching for fish in my local park! Wouldn't have known a heron could eat a rat or a pidgeon.
  5. I would go for the Dulwich Tandoori - their Sunday buffet is always spot on.
  6. Would agree with Nappy Lady in that these spells never last long. But I wouldn't keep comparing every day/night in degrees e.g 35 degrees. When my three teenagers were babies I just removed their clothing when it got really hot. Sometimes they just had their nappy on.
  7. Wish they had vouchers when I was 14. Would have had a field day in Woolworths, WH Smith or Dolcis. Got most of my clothes from East Street market so no voucher situation there!
  8. That's terrible! Hope she's ok. Thanks for making everyone aware of this but it is frightening really to think that this person is laying in wait for someone. Another hour and it could have been a school age child. Hope they catch this person.
  9. If she has not a temperature in herself then I would not worry (it's hard I know) but other than that carry on with the fans. If you're still worried phone NHS Direct but it looks like we're all in for a sticky night.
  10. She is not an employee, but self-employed and as such pays her own tax, national insurance etc.
  11. Two fans trained on the cot seems a bit extreme (could this be disturbing her). If you're in a house then the air rises during the day anyway, making it a bit hotter upstairs (that's what I find anyway). Does your toddler usually cry at bedtime? If not, then the heat is probably what's going on. Do you have some ventilation like a small window?
  12. Good idea Fuschia - I get all my giftcards for every shop from Sainsburys! Handstands, you don't sound way past the age of a 14 year old if you've got two wee ones. I must be ancient then, yes I am according to my 3 teenagers! Just my thought, but I don't think the Stella B voucher would be a good idea. While I was shopping in Croydon with my two girls, I had to get something in Debenhams (Red Herring). They had a good look and was interested in some of the stuff. I didn't feel too bad after that. My brother-in-law brought mine some Debenhams vouchers and they went down a bit iffy at first but soon got spent.
  13. Hanstands, it would also depend on how much you usually give as a voucher. A ?10/?20 Topshop voucher wouldn't go far but the 14 year old could always top it up with their own money. I went into Topshop with my 13 year old a couple of weeks ago in Croydon. She'd saved up some pocket money and is always going on about Topshop. I knew they were expensive from my older daughter (who doesn't care where she shops)but couldn't believe some of the prices they were asking for stuff that is exactly the same, but half price in other shops! Even a basic t-shirt is ?15. I steered her away from the little crop tops, see-through stuff, and she tried on a pair of skinny jeans - price was about ?35. Was glad when she said she didn't like them on.
  14. You would have to check with the school first before you apply, but most state nurseries insist that your child attends for the 5 half days and I think it would be frowned upon if you only sent them for 3 out of 5. Not only that but your child would be missing out on what goes on, on the days he/she wasn't there. Also the teacher would feel that she/he was not getting to know the child enough. My three children all went to the local state school nursery for a morning/afternoon session at 3 and a half/nearly 4 and they loved it. I personally feel it's a great way to introduce them to reception class otherwise going from 3 half days to 5 full days could be too much for some children.
  15. I think you would have to use the 5 half days or lose the place. I've never known it to be otherwise but I would check with the school first before you take up the place, if that's your intention.
  16. I went on the annual open day and tour of Nunhead Cemetery a few years ago. They have lots of bats living in the trees there.
  17. School
  18. I wouldn't have thought King's would have made diamorphine available during labour. Couldn't you ask your midwife (if she's based at King's)?
