We have as many Indian restaurants as we do because they fulfil a demand. Lots of people use them. Rather like estate agents shops in Putney, nail bars in Packham and brothels in Streatham.

Never been convinced about that 'green' pavement cleaning machine, The poor chap pushing it looks rather apologetic as it makes a few half-hearted sweeps around the station. It clearly doesn't clean properly and doesn't reach into corners or along walls.

But if they admit that there aren't enough signs, it'll be easy to appeal against tickets. Nice bit of sly revenue raising, though.

Well, let's keep proper monitoring of all road users, rather than ask a few children and conclude that ?200K+ was well spent. As with Melbourne Grove, anecdotal doesn't trump all other sorts of evidence.

I think this thread has had all the debate we need - I've learned that the police say there is not a significant speeding issue nor any recent increase in traffic on Melbourne Grove, and that Southwark's engineers do not recommend a barrier. I sympathise with Melbourneresident, but this is a forum, where lively debate is essential. To come here, speak your piece and then leave is not in the spirit of a forum. It's grandstanding.

Yes, that's what I thought when I looked at the junction earlier. Apart from the build-outs and, I suspect, changes in the traffic light phasing, none of the nonsense with cycle gates etc have appeared, and despite what Matt Hill wrote above, I doubt whether these will fully materialise. So I wonder how this squares up with the ?200K lavished on the whole project? Maybe Boris and TFL should do a full audit, but of course there's an embarrassing underspend in the pro-cycling budget, so I doubt they give a monkey's. Absolute disgrace. Oh, and there will be chaos when the schools are back.

Agreed re InDesign. It's not cheap, but it will do everything you want easily. If you need to manipulate images or graphics, there are plenty of free/cheap packages out there that will fit the bill, unless you're going for really high-end print.
