Indeed. I went in straight after the game to get some bits and pieces which I would have got from elsewhere if I hadn't been at the game. And this was boomshake's first post. 'Nuff said. -
DHFC noise disturbance, evening match
BrandNewGuy replied to beagle1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Ah, but the game ended before all children need to start their regulation 12 hours of sleep, which, if it fails to materialise even just once or twice a month, will doom them to idiocy and send our country's economy right down the drain. -
As an "Uncut" and "Mojo" subscriber, I'm probably as guilty of music nostalgia as anyone, but I try to bear in mind that in the 60s in particular, pop music was regarded as utterly ephemeral (with the exception of Dylan and his 'poetic' ilk). If you'd told 60s bands and singers that people would be listening to, writing about and discussing their songs fifty years later, they'd have laughed at you.

Sounds excellent and I'm a big fan of The Peckham Peculiar. Good luck! -

Maggie May was good (though co-written with Martin Quittenton), but The Killing Of Georgie was ghastly schmaltz.

Have you thought what it means to re-use a grave?

Although going out on the first working day back after the break is seriously hard core ;-)

Given what might have happened to the Half Moon, I think it might be better that it's with a chain with some clout rather than a smaller pubco that could be 'picked off' by residents' noise complaints etc. Fullers don't have the best pubs around - though they're not bad - but then again the Half Moon was never the best pub around apart from its music offering.
-
Update on Facebook from Save The Half Moon: "LATEST NEWS: We've had confirmation today from both Helen Hayes MP and Dulwich Society that The Dulwich Estate has confirmed that they have signed a lease on the Half Moon with pub operator Fuller Smith & Turner Plc (Fullers). According to Dulwich Society, 'It is hoped that the pub will re-open in the late summer of 2016'. We will obviously continue to seek to stress the importance both of live music and of working with the local community as Fullers develop their plans. I will update everyone later this week on developments. The Distillers in Hammersmith is one example of a Fullers pub that hosts live music and open mic nights. Thanks again to everyone for your ongoing support. Happy to hear your views." A guarded welcome for that. Fullers are good at exploiting the food angle in big pubs and I see no reason why music can't be part of the mix, as it is at The Distillers in Hammersmith.

TV programmes ending with "Next time..." Aaaargh! Either they're spoilers and therefore utterly unwelcome or they're not and therefore pointless. Next time can wait until next time, OK? -

Indeed - passive aggressive accusations of 'bullying' are tiresome. > This thread has shown this original resident and the other two than have contacted me > that they're not being listened to reasonably. So what did they ask the club to do? And what would you call a reasonable response? Telling 1,000 people at a football match to keep quiet because half a dozen children's sleep could be being disturbed by an hour or so twice a month? Completely bonkers. -

Intermittent noise until 9.40pm twice a month is not unreasonable. And I have nothing to do with the club, so don't include my responses in you 'us v them' attitude. -

As others have stated, it's an access and gate issue, not non-platform capacity. -

Madness! Won't anyone think of the children! What about the poor children who go to bed before 8.40? Or 7.40? Or what about people on nights who want to sleep at 10am? There have been nine evening games at Champion Hill since the beginning of the season. That's twice a month. I suggest the councillor politely asks his constituents to live with it. -
Agreed. Takeaway fish n chips is an acquired taste. They should be eaten straight out of the fryer, even if it burns your mouth. FWIW We liked Sea Cow a lot and will miss it. As Penguin68 suggested, it's difficult for any business to offer good value food with rents like these. I wonder what might happen to a few of our curry houses in the next year or so once they're hit with these rises.

And a crowd of 1,713. Just two years ago, the Boxing Day crowd was 558.

Count us in for the 14th. Mirash was a lot of fun, but the food was good rather than great. Bit too oily for my taste, though you're always taking your life into your hands with a tarka dhal... -

Based on what? Of course you can't make climate change responsible for any single weather event on climate change, any more than you can blame smoking for any single case of lung cancer. -
