  1. Get these - http://www.ellashouse.com/liners-boosters-wipes.php Snazzy and no need to worry about grey-ing!
  2. We were at the 1 o'clock club this week and assured that is open every afternoon now...
  3. hello - do you know approx how much milk she actually has? I'm totally not qualified to advocate this as but as a test could you see if she eats more if you cut back on the milk a bit? Whilst I know that milk should be the main source of nutrition until they're 1 - well - worth a try? If babySB has had a particularly lovely long night of b/feeding he's quite naturally not very interested in his breakfast... All about getting a balance I suppose. We've def cut back on milk in the day lately.
  4. Hey smiler/littleEDfamily/largeginandtonic/hh - thanks for reassurance! It would seem I have not helped the already challenging sleep situation by taking the little horror to Australia for 3 weeks and confusing him with random holiday schedule (interestingly he napped well on the go!). Am on verge of getting help (prob not gina though!)....as I said...desperate times!! xx
  5. Debate is good - but everyone seems to be either gina/baby whisperer/etc follower and happy, or bit all over the place and happy....am I the only one who both tries to have a routine but also has a baby who does not sleep/eat well?!? Worst of both worlds!! It's as much what you do as the personality of your baby I tell myself. Not that this helps loads but still! (oh yeah and the b/feeding to sleep. desperate times.)
  6. I seem to have bought loads of various nursing tops from jojo's and pretty pregnant (aptly named 'boob' range!)- but I hate them all - specially the jojo ones which have very oddly located slits for you to b'feed through.....so yep like pickle I usually still opt for stretchy strappy vest (m and s) under normal top. Makes you feel more normal and I think hides more than nursing tops, actually....
  7. hello - I don't think your colleagues need to be nice about you taking time off - you're legally entitled to paid time off for ante natal care which apparently 'may include relaxation or parent craft classes as well as medical examinations' http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/Moneyandworkentitlements/WorkAndFamilies/Pregnancyandmaternityrights/DG_10026556 The JAGS class is great, btw.
  8. I think there was a long thread about this a while back. Summary I think was no you don't need a car seat to get out of hospital (subtext - kings prob not notice you leaving anyway!) you only need a car seat if a baby is travelling in a private car, and whilst I'm unsure of the legalities I have certainly been in a black cab with the baby in the pram.
  9. You know - we have always had the same bedtime routine, fed regularly and naps at fairly set times. But sleep and naps are still disastrous. I think its this feeling that we have/are 'failing' despite following gina style guidance that is upsetting - and the inference that if you do follow said guidance it really will work...
  10. For those who asked...baby SB is a grand 9 months now. He's driving me mad today. so 2 more questions! baby jet lag - we got back from Australia on saturday and sleep is still all over the place (ha more so than usual) - those veteran travellers amongst us got any tips? He is crashing around 3.30pm for what I think is his afternoon nap but he seems to think it's bed time - I woke him after an hour yesterday (unthinkable length of nap for him!) and he screamed until I put him to bed. But was pretty much awake from 2am. ARGH it wasn't this bad on the way out.... Sore thumb - he sucks his poor thumb so much it is all cracked and bleeding - but if I put anything on it he cries as he can't suck it.........
  11. Yep - cab for sure. Actually I don't think I'd do public transport to heathrow even without a baby..... Caution though - Addison Lee's baby seat is rubbish. Am sure you can get better/cheaper elsewhere.
  12. I can't remember HOW I managed!! I think I mostly breastfed making sure the tv remote control and phone were close by, and wandered around the house with bubs in a sling (however maybe it was this that has lead to all later independence and sleeping problems!?!). Happily the weather was warmer but getting out was essential (and is even now). In terms of places to go - the nct bumps and babes sessions in Dulwich village and Goose Green are great for really little ones as they're mostly about tea and biscuits being made for you rather than activities for the babies. I did (and still do) make sure I have a shower before my husband leaves, and my minimal housework (washing and occasional hoovering) is all part of entertaining babySB! Good luck!!
  13. We can meet! The hilarious thing about the eating traumas is baby sb by no means looks malnourished!! It must be the all night milk bar he indulges in.....
  14. Ok. So I've established over the last year that babies are a confusing breed. Don't seem to follow all the normal rules. I have some questions....I need answers and maybe other questions will crop up along the way.... 1. What is WITH the throwing food (and toys I suppose, but it's the food that bothers me) off the highchair tray? Baby SB seems too young to really think it's a game and he does it sometimes very seriously, sometimes very off hand - like - get this out of my face, mummy. I'm finding it v irritating (tired!) especially as spoon feeding is apparently not acceptable now, therefore most of meal on the floor. 2. Why so inconsistent? You think they like something, then they hate it, then like again.... 3. And my real biggie....why oh why won't they sleep? 4. Despite above..why am I unable to leave bsb, harden up and get tough on sleeping/b/feeding horrors, sort out all the other issues, and head off back to work and recover former self?!?
  15. Ah..a rather belated happy new year everyone! I am hoping for a better 2010 - 2009 didn't work out the way I was hoping! I have all the usual resolutions...and need things to look forward to. BUT - I'm not happy about this weather! We are back from a lovely trip over christmas and it's all a bit of a shock! Not a good start to the year..
  16. JAGS monday night used to be available as pay as you go - last year - not sure now....
  17. hello - we just flew to Oz last week (here in the sunshine - la la!!) and think it depends on your baby. 8.5 month baby snowboarder is rubbish sleeper (and only just fit in the bassinet with Singapore airlines!!) and he only slept on the first leg, not at all on the second! Wish we had used something - calpol etc. - but think I could have poss managed on my own (but used to no sleep) apart from going to the loo! Will you have help when you arrive? Yep - snacks, snacks, toys. Good luck! x
  18. Yep we may drop in. Surely you will miss our little traumas?!? What effect do you reckon baby jet lag will have on sleep??!?
  19. Not me either am afraid - won't be back from travels - next time...if survive !! x
  20. I know it probably seems silly to worry...but you know, first baby, don't know any better etc - and the thought of this flight!! Took him to the doctors and seems no obvious reasons - maybe viral - which can make them slightly milk intolerant - hence the nappies. Sure he will be fine - had a mouthful of croissant and 5 pieces of gnocchi for lunch!
  21. Could be teeth - there are none as yet (apparently I was 13 months before they arrived so was not thinking imminent!!). Deep breath then and keep offering mini buffet style meals (could prob feed half the babies in ED with the amount of things have offered and thrown out this week). Thanks xx v stressed about PACKING too!!
  22. Baby snowboarder has a new wheeze. He is pretty much refusing all food other than a bit of fruit puree and milk. Toast if feeling generous, and the odd random thing like a cocktail sausage! Been going on for nearly a week now. So I'm stressed - he was getting on SO well with food and eating loads. Probably linked - he has had super smelly explosive nappies (look like runny chicken korma!) but only 2/3 a day. Mostly I'm worried as we're going on a 24 hr plane journey tomorrow, and then away for 3 weeks - how to manage food-wise?? What you think - just a phase? Funny tummy and not worry? Go to doctors (probably pointless....). Arghh!!
  23. Am obsessed with time. What time woke. What time went to sleep. Exact time of nap. How many and time of night time wakes. Am cross when husband looks at me vaguely and says '...umm...not sure...maybe 20 mins..?' I NEED to know! Why????
  24. Don't bother with handbag any more. Just use change bag for wallet and lipsalve. Don't need anything else. And I have to wipe the floor on my hands and knees three times a day. Classy. Must get a mop....
  25. giggle...I like the swordbrella... Actually I've just thought I'd also like a new macbook air. complete with adobe CS4. please. (yeah RIGHT!)
