Play pen or baby chair higher than floor level
snowboarder replied to bumpy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Goodness - or this - high chair - come - babyseat and seriously expensive! (And kind of huge/medical looking?!) -
OK so think need to relax and go with flow and let sleep and naps settle for a couple of weeks then assess. Sure my stress is not helping! Thanks all. xx

Grr. Right - just gone for nap 2 with minimum fuss at 2.30. So yep maybe 3.5 hrs spacing is good. But I really don't want him to have too big a sleep now (he won't, but still!!) Totally can't believe I am stressing like this with an 11 month old but new sleep regime has thrown naps and approach to naps completely!! I feel like I'm starting over!
-
Oh it's all been a total disaster again today! Woke at 6.15 (not bad). He's all energetic initially as sleeping better at night (sort of) so a bit drunk on sleep. Tried to put down for a morning nap at 9 - no joy 35 mins screaming. Abandoned, got him up. Obv tired. Tried again at 10.20 - he went to sleep after 5 mins grumbling but now awake again 30 mins later and cross cross. I am getting ridiculously stressed about it and do not know how to sort. Buggy napping was great, stress free and worked like clockwork but never slept for long and have just decided he HAS to learn to get to sleep on own in cot, to help improve nights if nothing else. He has VERY rarely slept for 30 mins plus in cot during day, and have never managed to resettle him by any method. Roll on age 3/4 where naps are no more.

So alie do you actually wake him up? The problem is getting the second (or any, actually) nap to be of a decent length. So 2 x 30 min naps today. Super.

I'm not very good a reading the tired 'cues' - or I think I am then cross cross cross at being put in cot. As I say though we are on new regime so it has all been change.....and hopefully cot rage will lessen!

pebbles Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > SB - when he slept in his pram, if you were to > keep moving would he stay asleep for longer than > 50 mins? \ Sometimes yes, mostly no!! Just need to let things settle I suppose, but tricky when need to get on with life too!

No no, am interested too as babysb always seems to be tired and hungry at the same time - hence neither sleeps well nor eats well.....!

Basically I would LOVE to have a chunky post lunch nap. Tried this today and had to bolt home at 11 as he was so sleepy, had to carry him to avoid sleep in buggy (broke back practically) and then he crashed before lunch and only had 50 mins sleep. Yesterday the 2/3/4 schedule which I think is more acheivable due to short napping tendancy came a cropper when he refused second nap. Suppose just need to settle into a pattern but grrr!

Sorry - I know there have been discussions on this before, but as part of big attempt to get babySB to sleep better I'm looking at a nap overhaul too. So the 2/3 rubbish half hour naps in the buggy are OUT. Cot sleeping is in. He's 11 months old - and I think I should be looking at 1/2 daytime naps. I tried 2 yesterday and it went badly wrong, and I ended up with a baby who slept from 9-9.30am, and then not again till he went to bed at 7 as had to abort the afternoon nap due to hysterics!! Today tried for one nap but again only 50 mins, albeit in the middle of the day, but had to physically stop him falling asleep in the buggy. Some advice please on what other babies of similar age do and when would be fab. All so tricky and would be good if we could fit in our usual morning activities too!! Sorry to bang on about sleeping again...!!

Should you use a harness on a high chair?
snowboarder replied to skip's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I always use the harness on our ikea chair too - it's just a waist harness though. I do find on some high chairs the 5 point harness is totally restrictive - kind of pins them back into a recline position which is messy and doesn't seem v safe re choking etc. Never used a tripp trapp....but obv safety is key. -
Is anyone watching "One Born Every Minute" on C4
snowboarder replied to The Nappy Lady's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Does feel a bit like that though SW. Am desperate to have 'natural' birth (at home please!) next time round - specially after watching this prog! Just feel like have totally missed out on a massive rite of passage by not going through labour etc. (I know Joy did - talking personally) -
Breast Milk STINKS...............apparently

Magpie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Doesn't it seem a bit odd to breastfeed in a > changing room of a charity shop? You know, I thought that at first - but actually thinking about it what a great idea - much more discreet than me in cafe nero...And I have often trekked round with increasingly hungry baby looking for somewhere 'suitable' to feed. Never occurred to me. And the mind man should not have been looking in a changing room, should he? -
Has anyone got a babyhawk oh snap carrier?
snowboarder replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There's a camo version I quite like! Am allowed new sling if operation zzzzz goes well. My reward to myself and babySB! -
Weight gain during pregnancy - gained too much?
snowboarder replied to newcomer's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It's when your bump gets enormous it's time to worry (well, maybe not worry, but take some action). Baby snowboarder had at growth spurt sometime between 33-36 weeks. But that's something your midwife will monitor.... -

Molly - Seems higher on the back It looks pretty (! there are SO many different fabric options!) Just another brand really. Supposed to be good for bigger babies! -

snowboarder replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oo good to hear you both like them - just to clarify though - do you have the mai tai babyhawk or the oh snap which has the waist buckle like the ergo? I have a secret deal with myself....if all goes well will have one soon! -
Do have to say BLW must be easier with second/subsequent children as you are already making baby friendly meals at baby friendly times...I reckon it's as time consuming as puree for number 1. Eg I'm going to try and make some fish 'fingers' for him tonight. Just for him. And he will throw them on the floor! Our meals just don't seem to be suitable (not 'finger food-y' enough) and we always have our main meal in the evening. It does seem v hard to get any quantity and variety of food down them this way. Mostly finger food seems to simply be ammunition to be thrown around the kitchen. Give me strength - I WISH he would eat puree!! trinity - to my horror I absent mindedly found myself doing what you say but the other way round!! To be tidy I just finished off a half sucked piece of pasta yesterday. Must sort self out!

Breast Milk STINKS...............apparently

Indiana Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I suppose you could call it a flashfeed - bit like > those flashmobs that sometimes spring up in > places... LOVE it. Or we could just all randomly wander in over the next week or so, casually breastfeeding as we browse around the shop.... We need a webcam set up.... -
Breast Milk STINKS...............apparently
snowboarder replied to FatherJack's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Whilst yep this mans reaction was totally out of order (how ODD he thought breast milk smells) - I don't think it would ever occur to me to b/f in a changing room in a charity shop...cafes/parks/pubs/even a loo etc yes - and there are loads of b/feeding friendly places on lordship lane. I do think I might have quickly asked if it was ok to use the changing room first - so avoiding the aerosol behavior. Just a comment - not trying to support him in any way! I suppose I was pretty lucky it was summer when I was doing most of my b/f on the move so any park bench would do - and these days the little one can certainly wait. Sounds like the mum was pretty cool though. Am happy to go down there tomorrow and breastfeed right out in the open of the shop.... standing up maybe? Molly you too? -
Banana not allowed in our house unless baby covered in full body/arm cover bib. Actually this rule goes for all food atm!
-
another vote for ikea antelop with insert. Although babySB is sturdy and 11 months we still use the insert - helps with avoiding him smearing stuff all over his clothes as he is totally wedged in!

Wish they did a toddler cinema session with creche..... Whipper snappers was one of the most terrifying experiences I've ever had...totally bewildering...
