  1. Coolio thanks! I love it that the family room is up so early!
  2. Bit last minute but does anyone know if you can buy helium balloons anywhere locally for a certain someone's first birthday party....it's this afternoon and he's spent the last couple of days oooh-ing at the co-op balloons!
  3. I had an elective c section at Kings this time last year - all fine and quite relaxed jolly affair. I know there are horror stories re the post natal ward - it was not an enjoyable experience for me but that is not because anything bad or neglectful happened, it was because I hated being in hospital rather than home. My recovery was really quick but I was well beforehand. Just be prepared - take pillows, food, drink with you. It may well be v hot (it was when I was there) so vests and jogging bottoms best attire! Be prepared (or get your husband) to be a bit bossy and pushy if you feel you're not getting any attention or a bit lost - they are just so busy. Good luck!
  4. Yeah - he just gets totally obsessed with getting the bowl off the tray and he's really strong, so usually manages it! For some reason he's ok in the morning with shreddies in stick on bowl but not with anyhting else, so I drip provide!
  5. I don't let my 11.5 month old have enough food at once to stuff in! One piece of pasta (etc) at a time or else the lot goes on the floor it seems!! (particularly the bowl) We BLW under sufferance tbh - he won't let me spoon feed him. Randomly he will let me pop food into his mouth if I too am using my fingers...baked beans are a joy....
  6. We should def try whippersnappers at the albrighton cabin too as it's fun and high energy - problem of early start (10am!!) and lack of immediate lunch venue though.... Once we get these naps sorted....!
  7. Reren if you continue to have a low risk pregnancy and your midwives are happy I would ignore everyone! My planned homebirth did not happen, I didn't really experience the labour ward (c section - one extreme to another!) but the 4 nights spent on the post natal ward is not an experience I EVER want to repeat (don't mean to sound too alarming - nothing really bad happened, I just hated it). To be tucked up in your own bed with your new baby....it must be SO much better!!
  8. Morning nap underway and lunch packed so we should be there. I'll try to get up there a bit early and loiter outside the ramp entrance bit - I have short darkish hair and hmm I think I'll take my blue maclaren buggy which will have a chubby 11.5month old glaring out, probably sucking his thumb....
  9. umm...see here
  10. helena handbasket Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oh how I love that optimism, I myself once had > it. Me too, haha!!! I'm coming round to the French idea that our children should not rule the family however...We recently had a nanny come to help us with baby snowboarders sleep - she was french - and made no bones about the fact she thought British babies ran the entire household, to their own detriment. BabySB did (does?!?) apparently. This, she said, has to change... Well. BabySB has other ideas...we'll see!! We're mid battle currently....
  11. No no it means he will get up at 6.30 which is excellent!!! But then he wonder why you want him to nap an hour earlier than usual and will not want to go to bed at what he believes is 6pm (actually 7). Yes Polly - for the first time ever I hated the extra hour in the Autumn... In the vain hope of extending morning sleep I have bought one of those stick on black out blinds, but baby screams at me every time I try to put it up, and the rubbish little suction pads won't work....
  12. Oh lord it is next week isn't it?!? Otherwise am late....
  13. Any tips? We are trying to stick to strict nap and bed times (limited success but hey!) but think this weekend could throw us completely!
  14. We're still good for library/cafe...unless have screaming tantrum over morning nap again.... Edit to say it's cool if others fancy Horniman etc though.....but we will prob leave you to it!! I'm not sure babySB is savvy enough for the sandpit...when we were at the beach over christmas he tried to eat the sand...
  15. Just physically show her - baby snowboarder and I spent a happy morning up and down stairs recently - he bombed up and I made him slide down on his tummy saying go down backwards.....And then when he tried to nosedive down the one step into the kitchen, I just said backwards, remember, and he turned round...I was SO impressed!! We do have gates too though....
  16. I know it's really sad and superficial of me, but I want one of these. I'm bored of clumping up to either of the parks to go to a cafe that really doesn't seem to mind if we throw our entire meal on the floor....and a play space...fab...
  17. It's fab there. Used to be my post work local. And if you go during the day you can go to the terra plana sale shop and remember that you used to covet shoes, not buggys. The same people own Village East...
  18. The Garrison on Bermondsey Street is nice but a bit of a walk....Or Roast in Borough Market? Do they do brunch? Is lovely there...
  19. I think we have gone from team to pretty divided. MrSB happily admits he could not do my job....but actually I think he would be better at it as is SO less emotional than me! However am now making him crawl round the kitchen with baby as payment for my bad week.
  20. Oh GOD if extreme stubbornness and persistence resembling that of a puppy are an indicator of trouble to come (well has been trouble since pre birth but hey)....I'm rapidly thinking I really need to become tough mummy now in order to cope with the years ahead. But it seems I'm not very good at it. BabySB has always been super alert but I'm only now beginning to see how determined he really is....help....
  21. I'm totally lost - we don't do cbeebies yet! My tv slummy-ness confined to a terrifying addiction to watching Neighbours and Home and Away after supper. It's kind of become part of the bedtime routine....and strangely makes babySB lick the telly....
  22. Re link between swimming and sleep...I can only say don't get your hopes up too much.....!
  23. Just take the last dirty nappy he did with you - that's what I did once and it threw the doctor a bit but seemed to be ok!
  24. Me too. I sometimes think it's crazy - I share more of my baby/parenting issues (and other dramas!) with an internet forum than I do with my 'real' friends...(hmm but maybe should share less??!?). Family room has pretty much helped me through my first year of motherhood!! Bet you're all looking forward to babysnowboarder: the toddler years!!! Coming soon.... xx
