  1. Whu on earth did your friend do that?
  2. Ok thanks but what about all the other road closures?
  3. Who gave the council a mandate to close any roads?

  6. I saw it because it was good to go back to the cinema. There was a film out years ago called Tron, which was Disney and had the protagonists riding motor bikes inside a computer on the printed circuit boards trying to kill each other. Telnet was better but not much. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tron
  7. And bullshit physics. Their physics advisor must have been on acid.
  8. How did they get in?
  9. Thanks to everyone who joined in a very pleasant meeting. Our next Zoom meeting is on 23rd September at 8.00pm. Our next book is"An Orchestra of Minorities" by Chicgozia Obioma https://www.theguardian.com/books/2019/jan/15/an-orchestra-of-minorities-chigozie-obioma-review Some time in the future I intend moving back to the Clockhouse but with the addition of Zoom to enable three members to join in, one in Canada and another in Norfolk and a couple locally. It should work quite well. Till next time,
  10. Thanks to those who joined in last Wednesday's Zoom meeting and commiserations to those who couldn't. Our next meeting will be on August 19th on zoom at 8.00pm. Our next book is The Cut Out Girl by Bart van Es: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36978239-the-cut-out-girl Also as pointed out by Sheila Albert Camus The Plague is being dramatised and broadcast this Sunday at 3.00pm on Radio four. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000l7kf?fbclid=IwAR3WSWpCFSalvFOjrQlBmnsoBeF4ImIeLl012pBY918lPOQ9Zg61Sp9FzNs Also this month some of us are going to read Hiroshima by John Hersey who mentored Marie Colvin. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/jan/05/hiroshima-by-john-hersey-survivors-stories-carry-weight-of-history Thanks again to Sahar for organising the Zoom link. All the best to you.
  11. Just a reminder! If you want to join but dont have the link drop me a message.
  12. Book group, Hope you are enjoying the book. Colvin was quite a reporter. Early on she was mentored by John Hersey and he helped her develop her style of reporting. He wrote a book Hiroshima which I think we should read, it?s short and powerful, 166 pages so perhaps we could do it along with next months book? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-37131894 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b07pfdvw You need to sign in to BBC iplayer for that one but well worth it. A more tenuous connection to Colvin: When I was in Beirut I met an artist who recreated crystal from dust. During the civil war(which Colvin reported from) there was a ?green? line between West & East Beirut . Vartan found a shelled building which housed a photographer?s studio in the green line and collected 60 kg of dust, dissolved them in water and grew crystals from the dust. https://marfaprojects.com/artists/vartan-avakian/ So hope to see you all on the 22nd.
  13. Try the Ivyhouse or the Herne Tavern.
  14. Our next Zoom meeting will be on 22nd July at 8.00pm
  15. Hello every one, Thanks for taking part in a very good Zoom meeting. Our next book is ?In Extremis? by Lindsey Hilsum. I haven?t a date yet but will post one on Monday. https://www.bookbrowse.com/reviews/index.cfm/book_number/3842/in-extremis All the best and once again thanks to Sahar for organising the Zoom meeting which works very well and Anita from Canada was able to join.
  16. Laytex gloves in Dulwich DIY went from ?6.99 to ?12.99
  17. Maybe not as much as I thought.
  18. This is a link to a long article about the murder by Israeli police of Eyad Hallaq in Jerusalem. I don't understand why there is no out-cry about it. By the way the IDF train American police in "control" techniques. https://jfjfp.com/hes-disabled-the-caregiver-screamed-im-with-her-eyad-cried-the-cop-opened-fire-anyway/ There is more on the JFJFP website: https://mailchi.mp/c97b90639c9b/reminder-of-agm-20-january-8709509?e=9ebda826d3
  19. Probably like Deptford High St was in the 80's. Hope not.
  20. How do you know? where is your evidence? I am sick of people making statements based on nothing but ignorance.
