  1. Just because I am not a royal sycophant doesn’t make me a kill joy.
  2. Dear book group, Thanks to everyone who joined in a very good meeting last night and a very big welcome to Stacy, Our next book is The Trees by Percival Everett. It's based on the murder of Emmett Till, a true story. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/56269278-the-trees?fbclid=IwAR10LLuH8RneRNF0lhBtd1GDCERzmZiir0rPVJOgKcC3cURJmGtI6USDXBE There is a very powerful film about it simply called “Till”. I recommend it. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2023/jan/04/till-review-a-powerful-portrait-of-courage-in-the-face-of-barbaric-racism The next meeting will be on 22nd March again on zoom. At 7.00pm. I am thinking of going back to live meetings in the Clockhouse please let me know your thoughts on that. We could alternate between zoom and live meetings, it may be possible to have zoom in the Clockhouse Zoom has the benefit that people abroad can join last night we had France and Ukraine adding a voice. Sometime soon I will attempt to show In Bruges in the Clockhouse. I have some sad news but I’ll take more time composing something and send next week. Thunderbirds are international! Chick.

(this is the correct time) I have asked to be invited again in April or May so will let you know. Chick From: Nicola Holloway <[email protected]> Sent: 31 January 2023 15:36 To: Nicola Holloway <[email protected]> Subject: Thank you Thank you for joining us for our recording with Cal Flyn and your excellent questions. I hope you enjoyed the experience, and the programme on Sunday. I have left in as many questions as I could. Our next recordings are on 16/02 with Nadifa Mohamed (The Fortune Men) and on 15/03 with Tan Twan Eng (The Garden of Evening Mists). These are both evening recordings in the Council Chamber at BBC Broadcasting House. All the details are on the website; do drop me a line if you would like to come to either. It’s a big space so there is room for plus-ones. I’m @nicolaholloway7 on Twitter if you’d like to follow me – I always tweet about upcoming recordings. And we put the details on our webpages as soon as authors are confirmed. Please don’t wait to be invited and please do tell your friends. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006s5sf With very best wishes Nicola
