  1. That is what they want essentially is it not? The post loses money I think, so they make the service abysmal and that encourages us to not use it?
  2. Chipotle is going where Hisar was..: https://www.dcl.co.uk/news/chipotle-secures-site-on-lordship-lane-east-dulwich/
  3. That would be well timed! Logically if they had to dig up LL to any extent surely it should be done over the summer? Unless that's impossible for some reason without doing TR first.
  4. That might be true but you're allowed to genuinely unload in a cpz area and if they bothered to appeal they'd likely win. How could a council make it so no one could get any kind of delivery without the delivery can getting a ticket?
  5. It was around the corner before in the main part of Herne Hill before they redid those units. It's another sign of the times unfortunately.
  6. The problem is the council are running short of revenue and the solution is to put in paid parking in the areas that don't have it already? It's as simple as that, isn't it ? Anyone got the council budget and actual numbers, for the current financial year, or where can we see it?
  7. For ULEZ complaint vehicles it's a £225 hit for every vehicle annually for the permit, £300 for non compliant. Just what everyone needs with the cost of living crisis and incipient recession. That's £225/300 that can't be spent elsewhere obviously... My guess is the council probably either have to make huge cuts or run out of cash if they can't get this parking money in. Their expenses will have increased like every entity and the fines from the LTN and school street traps (expect the new ones on Adys road etc) will have dried up largely now.
  8. Is it possible to get access to the money generated from the various parking and other schemes from the council somehow ?
  9. It's obviously a cash grab. LTN fine money drying up probably? No reason for controlled parking in my part of ED. Can see see Southwarks budget publicly somewhere and where all the money is going?
  10. Is other thread? Same thing that's been going on since the local delivery office that was on Silvester, got turned in to posh flats and an empty space on other other side.
  11. Pretty sure there's going to be a big reduction in traffic starting from now ish. Guess the local councils, TFL and the Mayor are going to get what they want. Maybe not in the way they intended it...
  12. Maybe they could put in accident blackspot signage ? It is isn't it? Might make people think.
  13. Like with the post service. All the local police infrastructure closed down in the last 20 years. (Now there are too many schools as well.) It's what happens when only fair weather is planned for. We'll never get a reliable post service without a local delivery office and crime won't be controlled properly without a local base for the police. As the cost of living issues increase expect more crime...
  14. I've seen the cat and crow battle going on around Goodrich last year. Cats were hiding under cars as they swooped down. Bizarre.
  15. The end of a reliable service in E Dulwich was when they sold the local delivery office off and turned it in to flats. Peak times and with the bank holidays, problems. They don't want people to use the post and having things takes weeks to be delivered helps achieve that I guess.
  16. Public land storage for the public to park their cars? Why do they have the right to charge people for parking? Unless there's some reason to restrict it, like people using the train station gumming the local streets up. Sure they're legally allowed to because the government says they can... It's public land that has essentially been requisitioned for the benefit of the council. Costs are increasing for the council (and everyone else). £100 extra on parking means a £100 less to spend on other things for the residents. It's certainly going to be interesting how things play out economically over the next 12 months... Good luck to everyone.
  17. Haven't had post recently. Got some today, but it's not even for my street, the number is right but it's for an address on the other side of ED... Anyone else ?
  18. It's good something is opening, rather than it being empty for years. As it seems the old LLoyds further up could well be...
  19. All the staff changed since Covid I think and it became quite expensive. It's a sign of the times along with Poundland opening. It's a very hard time to almost any kind of business.
  20. Good for them, will have to check it out. Can't imagine they're creating extra demand for bread though?, presumably the customers come from the other bakeries in the area.
  21. Presumably the rat running will just move to Gowlett during the school street hours?
  22. Is this why multiple police vans on crystal palace road today,? They certainly haven't picked the right weather for a protest, that is for sure!
  23. There is nothing released at the Cinema that I've wanted to see in recent times. For me it's similar for Netflix as well, little of interest.
  24. Semas and Sea Master are both pretty good imo and reasonably close to the Library end of ED. If I want a coffee it's rise and bloom or all the way in to the D park cafe though. To me it's bizarre so many coffee places at the Goose Green end.
