  1. Like with the post service. All the local police infrastructure closed down in the last 20 years. (Now there are too many schools as well.) It's what happens when only fair weather is planned for. We'll never get a reliable post service without a local delivery office and crime won't be controlled properly without a local base for the police. As the cost of living issues increase expect more crime...
  2. I've seen the cat and crow battle going on around Goodrich last year. Cats were hiding under cars as they swooped down. Bizarre.
  3. The end of a reliable service in E Dulwich was when they sold the local delivery office off and turned it in to flats. Peak times and with the bank holidays, problems. They don't want people to use the post and having things takes weeks to be delivered helps achieve that I guess.
  4. Public land storage for the public to park their cars? Why do they have the right to charge people for parking? Unless there's some reason to restrict it, like people using the train station gumming the local streets up. Sure they're legally allowed to because the government says they can... It's public land that has essentially been requisitioned for the benefit of the council. Costs are increasing for the council (and everyone else). £100 extra on parking means a £100 less to spend on other things for the residents. It's certainly going to be interesting how things play out economically over the next 12 months... Good luck to everyone.
  5. Haven't had post recently. Got some today, but it's not even for my street, the number is right but it's for an address on the other side of ED... Anyone else ?
  6. It's good something is opening, rather than it being empty for years. As it seems the old LLoyds further up could well be...
  7. All the staff changed since Covid I think and it became quite expensive. It's a sign of the times along with Poundland opening. It's a very hard time to almost any kind of business.
  8. Good for them, will have to check it out. Can't imagine they're creating extra demand for bread though?, presumably the customers come from the other bakeries in the area.
  9. Presumably the rat running will just move to Gowlett during the school street hours?
  10. Is this why multiple police vans on crystal palace road today,? They certainly haven't picked the right weather for a protest, that is for sure!
  11. There is nothing released at the Cinema that I've wanted to see in recent times. For me it's similar for Netflix as well, little of interest.
  12. Semas and Sea Master are both pretty good imo and reasonably close to the Library end of ED. If I want a coffee it's rise and bloom or all the way in to the D park cafe though. To me it's bizarre so many coffee places at the Goose Green end.
  13. Yet there is only one coffee shop in the small Sainsbury's end of Lordship Lane and that mainly does food and other things. Yet there is going to be another Chippy, despite there being Sema's, Emily's Place and Sea Master already pretty close by. Baffling stuff.
  14. Both main parties have closed police stations over the last 25 years: A police station has closed every week since Labour came to power in 1997, Government figures reveal. 1 MAR 2021 Why half of the UK’s police stations have closed in past decade.. Our police station is now a school, though it also seems there are too many schools now and not enough pupils for them! It's a similar story to what's happened to the local sorting office. The country has been run in to the ground by politicians who only think about the short term. I'm not seeing any party who are prepared to admit the problems and rebuild all essential infrastructure that has gone. Though as things get worse economically, crime is going to follow and ultimately things probably get bad enough so something is done about it.
  15. Post finally came today. Wondering if they're reading this thread ?
  16. Waiting for magazines on Goodrich... It seemingly got better for a week or two but back to rubbish again now...
  17. The market will sort it out. This site is huge and no doubt the rent and rates are equally so. Probably the only viable business for such a site, at current rents, is something like a Poundland Local. It's probably very much a sign of the times.
  18. Will have to try the new Chippy. There's already Semas and Sea Master not far from me. Anyone know if Rise and Bloom is staying now they've opened Shoreditch? Not clear if it's another branch or a move?
  19. They're definitely starting to catch up. Magazines from Mid December delivered finally today.
  20. Personally I would prioritise fixing that it takes a month to get a first class letter delivered to SE22, if you're lucky! There's no base for the police in the area so crime is rampant, will probably get worse if the economy deteriorates. Vehicle thefts, stabbing in Peckham Rye, it's all here on the forum. Basic services people have taken for granted for 100 years, no longer exist in SE22 in 2023.
  21. It seems probable the Peckham sorting office is too small for both areas and too far from ED... Also seems probable then that SE22 post will be broken until infrastructure is built to replace what was sold off, could take a while..? Hard for us to say exactly, only people that work for RM will know. Oh well, at least some people made a killing out of selling the property off...
  22. If there was any logic in the world it would be turned in to the new local sorting and delivery office..! We also need a police station / police space at least. Essentially need to undo the infrastructure vandalism of the last 10 years and rebuild what we had before... Progress is great I guess, we've gone backwards...
  23. Yes it's been <2T for a couple of years now. Not sure if they'll ever repair it to be <3.5T ever. Some cars are actually heavier than 2T, not sure if there is margin or if they get done too.
  24. Yes parking there would seem to be a bit ridiculous. It blocks the view coming out of the junction and is quite dangerous. There's no Parking controls on the bit behind the restriction on Oakhurst grove and the road behind I think so why not part their and walk the extra 10 or so meters?
  25. Not when there isn't any competition. If we actually want post delivered can we choose someone else other than Royal Mail to deliver it? If we can, sign me up!!! My guess is these issues will go on indefinitely, or at least until the destroyed infaststructure is replaced... Not likely anytime soon... Unless someone turns the Grove tavern in to a sorting office!
