Looks to me like the council can spend the money raised on quite a few transport related things. If they don't get the money from a CPZ presumably it has to come out of the general budget raised from our council tax? H&F Make about a ?23m a year surplus out of parking controls for example: https://www.lbhf.gov.uk/sites/default/files/section_attachments/lbhf_annual_parking_report_-_v1.0.pdf ?9.6m goes on concessionary fares, if they didn't get the money from the CPZ where would it come from? Where would the ?10.9m money for highways maintenance etc come from if they didn't have a CPZ? If Southwark are going to introduce a CPZ surely they could then use the money raised to pay for concessionary fares & highway maintenance which is funded how at the moment? If the spending on highway maintenance etc is coming from our general council tax then surely Southwark could take the budget freed up and reduce all our council tax? Effectively make the CPZ free and possibly even saving us all money. In that case sounds good to me.
  2. Revenue raising excercise, no surprise: https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/southwark-council-answers-claims-spent-officer-salaries-uk-authority/ Money needs come from somewhere. That will be us the residents. Wondering if people even receive the letter given the state of the postal service.
  3. Best bet is just not to use any company that deliver via royal mail where you could have to collect a package, or if you have to get it delivered to a work address. Usually there is an alternative. That is what I plan to do.
  4. My god it just gets worse. Which end of crystal palace rosd and when was this? Hope they're ok.
  5. Closing so many police stations and reducing police numbers one of the most short sighted decisions in recent times. That along with PC directed policing priorities, and all the BS and bureaucracy the police have to deal with. Can only hope future government reverse the madness and that any money put in to it doesn't just go to massive salaries for the people at the top. More frontline police needed aimed at dealing with the crime that actually has an effect on the daily lives of most of the population.
  6. Yes it started on Lordship lane, I saw them when coming out of Hanush and walked straight in to the situation. They chased him and pushed him off just past the Library. Guy was ok I think, called in to the police, he went off with the police when they arrived, probably to try and track them down. The youths went off down Woodwarde road with his bike after pushing him. A shop owner also came along and mentioned they might have taken something from his shop on Lordship lane? first, not sure which one though.
  7. Just saw a guy chased on his bike and pushed off, bike stolen! On the corner of Lordship Lane and Evelyna road. Also 3 black youths. In broad daylight with people everywhere. Crazy. Lived in London since 93 and never seen anything like it. Lawless.
  8. Also hearing very loud beeping near the corner of Goodrich and Barry road? It's also 3 very loud beeps in succession and then a gap and repeat. Was going at 0600 this morning and back again for the last hour. Very annoying.
  9. I was in there last week for lunch and it was great. I hope they do well. Great staff and food.
  10. I think I saw you looking at Blackbird bakery for it. I work around Herne Hill, will let colleagues know in case anyone sees it.
  11. This rat spotted in PR yesterday around the pond. it's rather large 10"at least.
  12. Great news. Franks cafe, the cinema etc are great things to have. Anyone know about the development plans for the Herne?
  13. Codfellas for me. Really good quality and the owner is always in there and is a really nice guy. I need to try Rosie's again. Fairly sure the fish was frozen when it first opened. Not sure if it still is.
  14. One of them was blue with an orange brake at the back. It has a distinctive black and silver batman sticker on the silver steering column. Also quite warn and with a small crack in the plastic front left iirc.
  15. Seconding Dr Cliffe, She really helped me through some tough times.
  16. I use hisar or Sams on bellenden regularly for Lunch.K&W always closed mid week? Both very good. Large Shish in sams is ?8, Similar to hisar which is 9.95 shish and chips takeaway. The meat is better in Hisar and I personally prefer them letting me make it myself at home. Salad options in sams slightly better. The guys is Sams are very friendly though and they remember all the regs orders. Both an 8 or 9 /10 for me.
  17. Literally just come back from the Herne Tavern garden with kids to see this! There isnt anything else like it in the area. Very hopeful it will be rejected.
