The police are underfunded, undermanned have some seemingly crazy priorities and simply don't bother with theft and even assault anymore in my experience. All the police stations in south London closed down except for Brixton. Unless you present them with cast iron evidence they won't even bother investigating. Just epitomises what has happened to the UK generally over the last 20-30 years. Better hope things don't go downhill economically or it's going to quickly become quite a significant problem.

I would try approaching in a friendly matter to see what their justification is. My neighbours did this with their bins, though clearly one of them had movement issues. They've had a disabled bay put in eventually. That is the correct way for them to deal with it. No one has the right to reserve a space with a bin, if they won't engage to talk with you about why the would reasonably need it. Just Park in it regardless.

Townley road is only restricted at the specified times coming from Lordship to Lane just near the junction with East dulwich grove, the bus "gate" is now at the streetview location below. I see cars lining up there during the restrictions every single day coming the other way. It's a trap or more like a "scam" by Southwark to generate tickets. If you aren't familiar with the signs or are following a GPS you'll likely be easy prey for ?65. You would think a bus gate, should actually have a gate to stop vehicles going through at the prescribed restricted times and only allow the bus? The same goes for the similar restriction in Dulwich Village, which generated 22k fines in only 3 months according to FOI request posted in other thread.

You have uber, deliveroo + all the other new start ups. Is it going to be like 2000, where lots of companies started with VC and then 99% of them went bust a year later?

Lambeth are just as bad, some of the parts of streatham are now like a maze where if you make a wrong turn it's ?65 fine coming your way. Surely the freedom should be means tested, even if just on an honour based system? A lot of people would be honest enough to not get it as they don't really need it, leaving funds for those who actually do.

Such fines should only be usable to reduce the council tax of residents. Then we would see what is actually needed.... The problem is the legislation, which allows usage only to use the fines for the transport part of council budget. Of course, without the fines, that money would have to come from council tax... Total stupidity... The roads are public property yet councils are allowed to ransom us for driving on them. Go figure.

It's outdoor space is pretty big. Can honestly say never seen more than about 20 people absolute max in the garden, guess the gap between outdoor and indoor being open might change that. That's the main reason I used to go there sometimes. Never a queue, beer is ok and M&B food is passable if you stick to simple things.

Didn't even know there was a stsbles and riding school! Did see a dog harassing horses in the park a couple of weeks ago so that explains it. You would think the risk of spreading Covid-19 via outdoor riding lessons must be pretty much zero?

Why would they close for a refurb in the middle of lockdown when demand for supermarkets is at its highest? Wouldn't it make more sense to do in a few months?

Why are they closing? Surely they are making money in current conditions? Do we really think they will reopen. If not, can only think it's because lots of people have left London for the moment.

Looks like they're only suing for 2012-2018 so whilst it could cost Uber money, it wouldn't effect how they operate now. Case will probably drag on for years in any case. Public transport in London will recover previous levels when fear of Covid disperses, could be up to 5 years or even longer. Long term I think we see much less traffic in London because depopulation has started to gather pace accelerated by the pandemic. We'll also see the ghost town that is much of the center continue as tourism and business travel will remain depressed for many years as well. Once Covid fear subsides in however many years, we'll be left with less traffic and much higher crime due to all the economic problems. Similar to the 70s and 80s.
