  1. The cup winners cup was the third string European competition behind the UEFA Cup but MU/Fergie were once very pleased to be in it and win it. As regards tv, the Europa is one of the few opportunities for those with terrestrial tv to see a live European game of football, so don't knock it.
  2. It certainly has it's faults. But as a tv fan it's sometimes nice to watch a game on a thursday evening esp in the latter stages. Thursday used to be a footballing void.

I understood that but sounded and still sounds rather defeatist, even if packaged as one step back for two forward. Would have been a ridiculous suggestion even a couple of months ago. And I recall MUs cup winners cup win being a catalyst for Fergie success so demeaning the Europa League by implying that you are too good for it sounds a bit pompous.

Something not quite right there and I suspect rd is lowering his own expectations, publically. Either that or he's drunk and morose.
  6. Parents can gift the house and rent it back at market value rent while still living in it until death but suggest it needs professional advice for it to work.
  7. Noone knows where Rangers is these days. The company changes every week.

Manchester United first on google - you could look at that a few different ways RD.

I have to say I thought he'd be gone. It looks like Sullivan/Gold are spineless (irrespective of cost to get rid of him).
  11. BFS - no morning after sacking it seems.

  13. IHT, Mr Ben, a horrible tax to pay and an unwelcome burden on the bereaved. Double sympathy.
  14. I had in mind that Scottish buyers did their own survey before making the offer. That may have been the case once. But agree if the seller does it as part of the sales pack that makes sense.
  15. I wish I was on the QT. Sounds much more cool than being up front.

What did you choose MrB ?
  17. I suspect that's not a compliment.

Sydney Bridge Suicide incident has made a hero of Matt Prior. Not sure about Broad. Prior said to Broad, lets go over and help this guy, but Broad refused to walk.
  20. Hmmm. Sunderland. Not good. Pressure on DM mounts.
  21. I'd say its just rumour mongering - I'd imagine his position would be reviewed at the end of the season at earliest.

  23. Read Colm Toibin's "The Testament of Mary" after Christmas which was Booker Prize nominated. I naively didn't know what it was about until about 30 pages in. ( Hadn't read any literary spoilers :) ) But it was very good.
  24. I wouldn't swap the Scottish system for ours. Buyers have to pay for a survey on a house they may never get. They may have to do this often. Every sale if effectively an auction - highest bid wins and no visibility on what other buyers are possibly offering. I think that's how it works anyway.

I think they were still working on this up until December - but not sure of what they are doing - they seem to have removed the floors top to bottom so it looks like a full refurb job and not going to be available for some time.
