  4. Ten years ago Tottenham Hotspur decided to release 14-year-old Gary Hooper as a schoolboy and now it looks like we could be back in the race for his signature. Hooper?s contract negotiations are at deadlock with Celtic and according to reports today Spurs could be set to offer ?10million for the 24-year-old. The Metro claim that Andre Villas-Boas has already had positive reports from scouts which he sent north of the border to cast an eye over the former Scunthorpe player. Norwich have already had a ?5million bid snubbed by Celtic, with Liverpool and QPR also said to be monitoring the situation. The striker has scored 55 goals in 81 games for the Scottish side but we all know that the Premier League is a completely different animal. Would Hooper be able to become the prolific forward which we crave? Hooper reportedly told the Scottish Sun newspaper: ?I was released by Spurs when I was 14, I had been with them for seven years. I went on a 20-minute trial ? just 20 minutes of one game and they said no. ?How they can judge you on 20 minutes I?ll never know. ?The rejection from Tottenham has motivated me a lot. I want to prove to them I can play at the highest level. ?The disappointment of being released by Spurs has never left me ? and ever since I?ve been trying my hardest to show what I can do. Spurs didn?t believe in me and I think I?ve proved them wrong by joining Celtic.?
  5. That advice might be a bit late now. But its the thought that counts.
  6. Jah > To take four points from Man Utd during the season is good form. If only everyone else could do that, they would be mid table. :)

  17. "The Union Flag is sometimes known as the Union Jack after its creator, James I of England, James VI of Scots. Jack comes from the Latin for James, Jacobus. James became King of Scots at one year old when his mother Mary Queen of Scots was deposed by rebel Scottish Lords. James patiently waited another thirty-five years until his aunt, Elizabeth I of England died and he succeeded to the throne of England. James wanted to unite his two kingdoms but the Parliaments of the two sovereign nations opposed it vigorously. James persistently asked his Parliaments to bring about a plan for union but they continually came up with objections. Meanwhile, James did what he could to effect a unification. Firstly, he declared himself ?King of Great Britain?, a term he created for his new kingdom. James also minted a new coin, which could be used in either England or Scotland. He named it the ?Unite?. It was worth five shillings in Sterling and three pounds in Scots. (The Scottish currency had been greatly devalued during James reign in Scotland). Most importantly, James created the new flag overlaying the English cross of St George on the Scottish cross of St Andrew to form a new National Flag. He rejected other designs suggested by his advisors on the grounds that they were not ?united?. The Union Flag was augmented in 1801 when Ireland became part of The United Kingdom." Looks like it was originally created in 1606 when James was king of both England and Scotland and then with Ireland added in 1801 it became the Union Flag we know today. No mention of Wales, and the flag of St Patrick is no longer relevant with most of Ireland no longer being in the Union. http://www.wardsbookofdays.com/12april.htm
  18. Is this a serious post? It's south east London. A church is the least of your worries. Friern Road is relatively quiet. Occasional late night speeding cars using Friern as a cut through can be noisy, or mopeds droning around. But generally its a quiet enough road. If you are worried about a church then l do wonder where you lived before?
  19. Ever since you mentioned in public that "Mick isn't very good at the score predictions", you seem to have lost the knack.
