  6. Sorry to bring Northern Ireland into it but Thatcher brought in a shoot to kill policy in northern ireland which promoted institutionalised killing. It was the subject of a public enquiry and when John stalker concluded yes there was a shoot to kill policy, he got dumped pdq. Blair did his best and more then most to solve northern irelands problems.
  7. Guess what. I have a bet on Rors this weekend. He's doing pretty good.
  8. Lady is actually a title. Have people forgotten that. It's supposed to be a good thing.

  14. I use facebook on my phone. I dont see spam or adverts, or maybe I subconsciously filter them out, I will have to look more closely.
  15. The point was made in response to the outgoing chief whip being from Rugby and the incoming one being from Eton, and how the PM was getting on in his quest for privilege for all. Alan Johnston defended the PM surprisingly. Society sometimes makes assumptions on people based upon their school background, which was in most people's case, decided for them, by their parents. I agree some children would be given the choice but at age 10 I'm not sure I would give my child such a big decision.
  16. That's a conversation killer.... funny though :)

  18. Hugs - I think he was ultimatley banned for something that actually made everyone feel a bit sick, so he had to go. The point is that when you have someone who is close to the egde, the objectors win every time, there is no option to show support, so I second Asset's suggestion.
  19. Alan Johnson made this point on this week tonight. I'd not really thought of it like that before.
  20. Asset. I suggested something like this a long time ago. BBW was controversial and whilst a lot of people loved his edgy comedy, there was no way to show if you liked it but of course he was controversial so the "report this post" option was available for the people who didn't like him but nothing was available for those who did. As a result he got lots of reports and got banned, there were no likes. I'm sure the likes would have outnumbered the reports so I suggested it then. I know SJ would approve.

  22. Hands off RD!
  23. I don't think anyone is doubting there is a huge gap in class. To be honest Celtic struggled to get a tackle in, never mind keep the ball. It's the gap in class that confirms it as a good defensive performance, not retracts from it.
  24. The error in the OP's question (if I may be so bold as to point this out) is to include the word bigot, which I pointed out above is a state of mind: "Bigotry is the state of mind of a bigot, defined by Merriam-Webster as "a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices;" That's probably why most people's points are ignoring the word bigot and concentrating on comparing toff and pleb, each of which refer to people's background and not state of mind.
