  2. Cant wait to see the home nations in action. Argentina could be a tricky one for England to start with. Cmon Ireland. I think this is the year. Beat Australia in the group and again in the final.

  7. Success is sometimes what people achieve through fear of failure. This keeps them motivated. Its not necessarily what they really wanted from life, but a career cycle swallows them up. I have always been envious of those who choose their own path and are happy with their vocation, irrespective of whether they are promoted or well paid. These people appear to have the level of success that they want. Successful people are sometimes the most insecure of people, spending their lives playing the game and batting away any competition. As someone already pointed out, the most "successful" people often pursue success to the detroment of their personal relationships. These people are generally selfish and put their personal career achievements above everything else.
  8. "England will face France"....then face watching the rest of the tournament on tv.
  9. 95p a pint when I was 18 / ish.
  10. I knew that would get a reaction. Was not actually inside Strawberry Moons as such, but that little pedestrianised area of Heddon Street is good for an evening beer. The Living Room next door is nice, but they seem less flexible about letting you stand outside, hence we got our drinks from strawberry moons. Went home before it got messy.
  11. ?4.70 for a pint of Stella at Strawberry Moons in town last night. At first we thought it was very cheap, at 3 pints for under a tenner - but we realised it was happy hour. The receipt showed ?4.70 before discount. I quickly got my round in before happy hour ended. Can anyone beat ?4.70 ? ?5 a pint is only round the corner.
  12. He refers to himself as "absent" but no reason given. That must be the honourable way to do things. I'm sure if he ever wins a bet, we will hear from him. (And I don't mean a hedge, I mean a proper win bet....)
  13. Cmon Celtic..... :)
  14. The Red Devil..... He is compulsive now man. Cant take any more, man.
  15. Its a big birthday. She has been a cheap date for the last 15 years, so she is due something half decent. :) Thanks for all the input so far - very helpful. I can pass this on to her as my own knowledge, she will be oh so impressed.
  16. detectives with bullet proof jackets pulled up outside and don't think they were there for a haircut.
  17. I may buy one of these for my wife as a birthday present shortly. I have a dislike for all things Apple, but if its best I'll buy whats best. The main requirement is that she can watch BBC iplayer on it and therefore...is it true you cannot do this on the ipad because it does not have Flash? Can anyone confirm this? If so it is a non starter. Otherwise the man at Dixon tells me the Samsung is lighter, has Flash and HD, plus can interact with your "internet ready TV" but the ipad has more reactive touchscreen. Can anyone add any reason to buy the ipad2 over the samsung? Thanks.

  19. This should be good fun. I think I'm looking forward to it more than the last footie world cup to be honest. Of course Ireland are in it which is a bonus :)) but so are all the home nations, which gives everyone an interest in it. So all English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish.......enjoy.
