  1. Torres. Poor lad. Not an easy life. Very true.
  2. Anna likes all things spanish.
  3. My wife tells me our monthly direct debit for the combined gas/elec is rising to ?177 per month. What is going on? Heating is gas so harsh winter probably contributes but FGS this is ?1500 per year, Jeez. Any ideas for cheaper supplier/what on earth might be going on - is this ?177 in any way normal?
  4. Italy, Brazil, Germany. All losers. Will now start a thread on how to save money of gas and electricity.
  5. I know Keef - I just wanted to get a meaningless thread going. I don't want to search to make sure its an original question. I'd just hope people will run with it.

  9. i thought it was some sort of riddle for the curry 'in crowd'.

Eh - I don't believe they did bring it to the national press initally, but are responding to allow their side of the story to be understood.
  15. I think most people would agree that on a subject like this, its not such a clear cut matter that there is a right answer for every family and therefore it should be for the parents to decide. Certainly for under 10s to be allowed to cycle on the pavement would not inconveniece many people and would be a good interim step before children progress to the road. It would be good if that was the law. I worry much more about a young child on a bike following a parent on a bike on a busy road than I would a child on its own cycling on a pavement to school. Good luck in resolving this.
  16. I went down Sunday afternoon and personally thought it was poor. Possibly not the best time to go. Bought an ice cream - witnessed middle child having tantrum at being given wrong ice cream - that was as good as it got.
  17. How sad that she had to go through this humiliating experience. Thankfully procedures have been put in place to ensure this type of treatment cannot be repeated.
  18. Just a little joke as I like being told off by Rosie.
  19. This is a great thread. Not because of the issue, which has been done to death - but to see the big boys from the Lounge having a fight..... I'd agree that 5 is too young to cycle to school - but I'd be absolutley fine with an 8 year old and a 5 year old walking the same route to school. But not a 5 year old alone. The general point of over protective parenting drives me mad. The perception that a child that is not in your direct eyeline is in danger is a common feeling which smothers our children with protection and does not allow them to explore or enjoy their childhoods in the way they should.
  20. Ted won't see that Sean. You better PM him.
  21. I was blonde once - but I was only 5. Did not do me any favours with the ladies.
  22. I deduce Rosie has a headache and Hibbs does not. Or it could just be personality.
  23. I don't know Jimmy - you should not write off Uruguay - they may yet find a way to stay in the competition.
  24. I suggest that FIFA plant bugs in several strategic locations. One would be attached underneath the referee's collar so the viewers and commentators can listen in on his uncensored comments, observations and any arguments that occur between the pitch official and any unwitting players. A second bug would be placed in the changing rooms so the commentators and viewers at home can eavesdrop on any heated discourse. The coach would ideally be provided with a bamboo cane to bring home the frustration of the management. Providing the unseen audience with any yelps and screams brought about by the application of the birch on its high profile recipients. During halftime, or after an important World Cup match the supporters of the losing team and viewers at home would be invited to take part in a vote. So any poorly performing members of the team could be voted off the pitch. Mirroring the system employed by the equally frustrating Big Brother. Coaching staff and the management would naturally be excluded from any participation in the vote. But would instead be provided with technology in the dug-out that would enable them to send small - yet excruciatingly painful - electric shocks aimed at players they believe aren't pulling their weight.
