  1. I really like my Uniqlo ones but probably haven't worn them enough to wreck them. I love Falke tights so will have to try the leggings.
  2. I started a thread on this a few weeks ago. I have a Bjorn active, Ergo and Moby. The good things about the Bjorn is that it's really easy to put on and take off- must be why you see so many. Agree with other though not very comfy once baby is bigger or for long trips. The others I've got take some practice to use but i've had a few successful trips now with Ergo with newborn insert (thanks Ruth!). Only problem is my 4 week 10lb boy is almost too big for it with the insert and not steady enough without. It's really comfy though and my little girl who's almost 3 goes in it too. Would really love to master the Moby though but can never get it tight enough. Think I might have to join you at the next sling meet!

  4. Hello again, thanks for all the fab advice. Just wondering if anyone has managed to breastfeed in a stretchy wrap sling e.g. a moby? Baby boy feeds a lot- v different from skinny big sis. Would be great to be able to feed him and put dinner on- or is this unrealistic!? Also this is going to sound really cheeky but it would fantastic if someone could meet me briefly and show me how to do it! Have looked at you tube but i'm a bit hopeless at doing things like that unless shown in person!
  5. I like the sound of the Beko too...but very similar to Ergo??
  6. Seems like i need to try harder with the Moby- which i think is the same as the hugabub? Baby likes being cradled rather than held upright so maybe need to try that sort of hold. Have got instructions so will look. Belle the only hold i can do is an upright one so can show you how. I find it hard to do Moby tight enough and baby can get head out- need to practise clearly!
  7. Hello sling experts! I have a toddler and a 2 week old and my OH goes back to work next week- eek! I think a sling will be essential in the next few months for both inside and out! The problem is I have a few but they don't seem to be working...Have got a Lascal carrier. Basically a Bjorn which baby seems to like but I find a bit uncomfortable to wear tho easy to get on. Also have Moby wrap which I like but baby doesn't although I can only do it in the standard upright wrap. Plus I'm finding it tricky to get on without it dragging on the ground/baby screaming. I've got an Ergo but no newborn insert. Is it worth buying the insert? Should I keep trying the Moby? Or is there a sling suitable for newborns that's easy to get on and comfortable to wear?! Thanks..
  8. Well you know all about E! Same thing with the pasta- the only thing she'll have on it is philedelphia and sweetcorn. She'll eat sausages, scrambled eggs, yoghurt, bread and butter, smoked salmon, fruit and breakfast cereal- that's it! Not even fish fingers which used to be a hit. No tips really but daddy's on paternity leave so doing meal times. He's taking the if you don't eat some of that there's nothing else all evening approach with some success. She's eaten more this week including some pasta with tomato sauce. I've avoided being that strict as i don't want her to go to bed hungry. I keep thinking at some point she'll have to eat potatoes, rice, veg, meat etc but it's a long phase! Just hope her little brother doesn't follow in her footsteps!
  9. Ellie78 I had a homebirth last wk and ended up being transferred to Kings where we spent 2 nights. I was dreading it, all I wanted to do was curl up in my own bed. However the staff were fantastic and the ward was fine (as hospita wards go). I was incredibly lucky to have my own room though as it wasn't very busy.
  10. Congrats Srawbs! My little one is 8 days old and wont contemplate sleeping in the basket at night (will sleep in it for a bit during the day although this only started happening a few days ago). My daughter was like this too. We are co sleeping in the way F describes. It's the only way of getting any sleep and it's not forever (older child was going into basket at 7ish from about 8 weeks and co sleeping from 1st wake). Re the feeding I'm no expert but I would just keep putting him on the boob as much as possible and trying to keep him awake while there. My (quite big) boy was attatched to me all the time until the milk came in and not quite so much now thank goodness. Hope this helps x
  11. I had the cameleon and really loved it. Fab to push, comfy for baby and fine on public transport. For a travel system it's narrow. Suited me as i walk loads. We left itin the hallway. Wouldn't recommend if you need to fold it up every day or take in the car a lot. I think the Bee looks great but depends whether you plan on taking it out of London. Happy shopping! As someone mentioned earlier it's the most used piece of baby kit!
  12. I loved reading 'There's going to be a Baby' and E really enjoyed it even though I'm not sure if she got the concept. Agree with BB though the mum is very glam in her heels and dresses! 'There's a House inside my Mummy' is great on pregnancy but then stops just after the birth. We have the Usborne book mentioned and 'Topsy and Tim and the New Baby' which also features breastfeeding. Happy to lend soon (ish!?). E also likes looking through the ELC and Jo Jo Maman catalogue and talking about all the baby things.
  13. Anyone with recent experience want to add anything?? Was 40 weeks on Mon and want to avoid induction/hospital birth...
  14. Hee hee my OH said similar when I said I wanted a tummy tub (aka baby bucket) for no.2. I'm still working on him re the Tripp Trapp newborn seat!
  15. I love MoMo's song but E likes Stuffy's...might be something to do with the fact it features soft play! Groovy Moves popular all round.
  16. My daughter actually started napping better from about 1 but this didn't seem to make much difference to night time sleep neither does the amount she eats/runs around. Think you might be onto something Saffron!
  17. My daughter is 3 in Feb and doesn't sleep through the night very often. Mostly it's just a quick wake up but she wont settle until my OH goes and sleeps next to her (I'm too pregnant to sleep on her floor!). Not ideal but would rather not leave her shouting as she's still in a cot and wears a grobag. I know she can climb out and am worried if she tried in the sleeping bag she'd hurt herself. Planning on moving her into a bed soon but dreading it! Not what you wanted to hear probably. At 1 her sleep was quite bad too, I put it down to teeth and my return to work. I was still breastfeeding her twice a night as she seemed hungry. Have to say when we dropped the night feeds (about 15 months) she started sleeping through (well until 5)but the 2 things may not be related. I started cuddling instead of feeding which worked quite well, although it meant she spent half the night in our bed...can't believe I'm about to do all this again!
  18. Would second the wooden blocks with trolley. M 2.5 year old still plays with it sometimes. Another hit was one of those wheely bugs. I was dubious but E used it loads, initially pushing it along and then riding on it, again still does now. Other than than that Galt pop up toy, puzzles, books were well received.
  19. Am I the only one whose toddler's hair is covered in food/paint/playdough/milk etc at the end of each day and therefore needs it washing?? It is quite long though...Baths every night for us- scared to disrupt the routine! Quite a nice way to end the day (if they enjoy it) we wash E's hair with a watering can which seems to make it fun.

I agree. There's nowhere to buy 2nd hand maternity clothes, they don't even come up on the EDF much and then they just tend to be the odd item. I have bought some new stuff but at 37 weeks I'm too big for most of it. Hoping I don't go overdue as only have about 3 things that fit at the mo!

  22. Has anyone experienced nausea right at the end of pregnancy? I'm 36 (and a half!) wks and for the past few days have felt sick all the time. No heartburn so don't think gaviscon would help. I really suffered with morning sickness until about 17 wks and didn't think it would come back this late! Makes looking after a toddler even harder at this stage! Any tips? Stories? Thanks!

  24. 12-18 month Zara trousers fit my skinny 2.5yr old...but she is on the small side too. Mostly put her in Gap leggings now for ease of using the potty. Petit bateau was a good fit and Green Baby seem to be made for long skinny children so you may have some luck there.
  25. Urgh we had this problem too. In the end she started not minding the hair slides (probably realised it was getting tricky to see without them). But at 2.5 still refuses pony tails, bunches etc! Sorry not much help...
