  1. Hi Curlykaren thanks for your message, thats 3 of us now, so will organise something else for the weekend of 19th/20th, which is the nearest park to you and which is your favorite one?
  2. Hi If you are a single parent in east dulwich and surrounding area and would like to meet up with others I am starting a group who will meet on Saturdays or Sundays in different park venues throughout the summer. Mums and dads are welcome and children of any age. My little boy is 8 months old now and I am keen to meet others in similar circumstances for company and support for both him and myself Please let me know if you are interested and any good venues and I will make arrangements for our meetups according to what people would like to do I suggest that the first meetup will be Sunday 6th June and that we meet at The Horniman museum at 2 o'clock, the slope next to the cafe is a nice spot and I will make sure I get there early so people are not on their own.
  3. I don't think you are being over cautious at all. My friend mixed together a small amount of lavender oil with olive oil for me which was nice in the bath. Now my baby gets small dry skin patches on his feet and wrists and I use olive oil on him, at recommendation of the doctor and it works very quickly.
  4. Nicnocs I had exactly the same thing and ended up going back on a fortnightly basis for scans to check the cervix. I too had the progesterone and was asked to take part in the trial but declined as I think the situation is stressful enough without taking part in a trial. I was asked to go back for fortnightly cervix scans. At 28 weeks I was told that it had shortened even more and I was given steroid injections in case the baby was born premature. At 32 weeks I was given a normal scan and discovered the baby was nearly 7 lbs so an early birth would not have mattered at this stage. He was eventually born 1 day early at 9lbs 9ozs with regular scans in the last few weeks to ensure that he didn't get too big! Anyway, every pregnancy is different so you have to make a decision based on good advice. Throughout this I saw Ms Penna a fantastic consultant at Kings who guided me and kept me calm. I would see a consultant to discuss and make sure you make the right decision. All the best with your pregnancy
  5. thank you all for your advice, just so you know it is formula milk as i dont have breast milk unfortunately.
  6. well said littleedfamily everybody has the right to choose
  7. thank you saila for your advice, it is good to get reassurance. You are right the supermarket nappies are as good as the others and half the price. I have an asda near work so will stock up.
  8. Hi My 6 vmonth old has had a cold and cough this week which developed to the squits on Thursday. I took him to the hospital and they advised it is just a virus which he probably caught at nursery as this is his first week. The doctor advised to forget food and just give him water and milk. Today he is really happy and back to his old self but sleeping a lot and filled about 10n nappies, they did say it would get worse, I am just wondering if anybody has any advice. My aunty, who has brought up lots of children thinks that milk is not good for diarrhoea, however as he is only 6 vmonths old he has only just started solids and i think he needs the milk to keep him going Is anybody else experiencing this and got any good advice?
  9. I can;t advise you where to go but I can advise you that considering it early is good because by the time I started looking at them at around 30 weeks it was too late. I had really bad morning sickness from week 8 onwards so just didn't have the energy to consider anything, so yes get in early if you can. I was advised that there are drop in sessions at Peckham pulse in case of need.
  10. I live very close to the one at forest hill, take a look at the Ofsted reports and if it is the same company I think you will make an instant decision not to use them. Unfortunately, ?215 per week is very cheap for round here.
  11. I used the GRACO travel cot as one option and a very thick large wool rug with a padded play mat as another.
  12. Hi bumpy my 6 month old had all of the injections at once and at the times they are recommended to have them, aside from his 4 month jabs which he had 2 weeks late as he had a pretty nasty cold. I avoided taking him out the day of the jabs and the day after because he was more tired and clingy than usual, apart from that no side effects.
  13. Yes it is true, do it now. I have ended up taking mine to canary wharf nursery and have my name down for 2 other nurseries, one is Asquith in Peckham, which I have seen highly recommended on the forum. They advised that they have a long waiting list for people who are unsure of what they want but a shorter one for people who know when they want the care. By the way they are having an open day on 13th March so you can have a look. The other one is rubadub in Forest Hill, highly recommended by mothers I have met at baby clinic and on mumsnet, over 200 on waiting list. You won't know what you want to do until you have your baby, but there is no harm getting your name down and if you don't need the stress of phoning round, which I didn't when I was pregnant, ask a friend or partner to do it for you. Don't worry about it too much is the key because you always find a way when the little one arrives.
  14. My little one started nursery this week and he is already into their routine, which I am going to copy this weekend. I had not managed to do this myself, and he definitely would not sleep during the day in the cot, but they have done it no problem. They are following Melbourne Groover's advice above with an early nap about 9 to 9.30 and then a couple of hours straight after an early lunch so 12.30 ish. The nursery does have a very full routine though which I think is quite hard to follow when you have things to do during the day and may be a factor. This means they are pretty shattered when they get home as well, zonking out at 7.30 now and sleeping until 6, he hasn't got any time for me anymore!
  15. snowboarder is right, a big bump can mean increased amniotic fluid and/or large baby which needed monitoring for me, have sent you a pm.
  16. Phone Kings and ask to see a consultant, and tell them it is extremely uncomfortable and that you are worried, you do not want to see a nurse or a midwife, demand to see the consultant. It is the only way to get a proper diagnosis and I did it a few times as had a few problems, they always saw me straightaway when I insisted . GPs are so uninformed about pregnancy issues in my experience.
  17. Annabel Karmels book "Feeding your baby and Toddler" is really good with great advice and recipes. There is one for sale on the family classifieds for a tenner
  18. I found week 11 to 18 hideous and then it all stopped and felt fantastic. As much sleep as possible was the best solution for me so I took thurs and Friday off every week until I felt better. I took sick leave from work most weeks and a couple of days holiday. I told HR the situation and they allowed me to take sick leave. Interestingly pregnancy sick leave was not classed as sick leave in my company, I do not know if this is their policy or if it is law. I was told by the midwife that you feel ill because the baby is taking the nutrients from your body so that can only be a good sign for the baby, pants for you though. Good luck and I hope you feel fantastic soon, hopefully at week 18 you will be a new woman.
