  1. My twins are 3 and 2 months.. and still need to nap. We try to limit to an hour else they stay up till 8 or 8.30pm. Trouble is, it's very very hard to STOP them falling asleep and if we go in the car (or even sit quietly in front of the TV) late afternoon they tend to just conk out. Actually I think most children don't rend to drop their nap until they are around the 3y mark, at least in my experience
  2. but edhistory, your previous post was arguing that southwark council should use a GIS system, now we have established that it does, you seem to have started arguing the opposite. You also seem to have an issue with LAs using the school main gate as the pont of measure, but I am not sure you are aware of the Admissions Code - "2.37 Distance between home and school is a clear and objective oversubscription criterion and is often used as a tie breaker in oversubscription criteria. It has the benefit of ensuring that children will not have a disproportionately long journey if access to their nearest school is not possible. Admission authorities must explain clearly how distance from home to the school will be measured including the points at the school and the child?s home from which distance is to be measured (for example, the main school gate, the front door to the home, how flats will be treated). "

  5. No Susan That map shows notional circles around each school On reality there is no fixed catchment and the circle round each school will vary year on year and between schools
  6. I think from reports over the last few years there is definitely N issue for those around the gardens/ border of p rye park (which makes sense, having no school on one side) You need to remove the catholic schools though - afaik they never take non Catholics

  13. I think when choosing a nursery the first decision is are you looking for a "playgroup but mum doesn't stay" sort of thing.. probably term time only, short days, aimed at toddlers... or part time sessions at a full daycare 52w solution The latter is likely to be much more expensive and a bit OTT if you are fundamentally a SAHM or have other childcare in place. The list of nurseries that fit the two bills are probably quite different.
  14. I have worn underwired bras once the early days of engorgement have passed. Be careful though as wearing a bra when my twins must have been 18m plus, a feeding bra, even, I didn't adjust it properly and it was cutting in to me and sore. When I looked I had a litle sore lump. This ended up becoming a really nasty abcess that had me on antibiotics for 6 weeks and required draining surgically several times - I narrowly avoided hospital admission. So i think any bra is fine as long as you take care it's not tight so it cuts into your breast at all ... easier once your breasts have settled, but I think some women are more prone to engorgement/mastitis etc even when their babies are older.

  16. The first thing to say is that probably if you saw the gp and asked for some blood tests to make sure she isn't unwell or anaemic s/he would hopefully be sympathetic - and it's done without too much trauma by dedicated staff in paediatric outpatients I saw the gP when child no 1 was pale and listless and kept getting styes I felt much better once I was reassured Second thing is how long has this been going on ... Is it a growth spurt? And the third thing is that my daughter who is just three is also totally exhausted and wKing very early And having meltdown tNtrums She seems to be in trNsition from toddler to little girl somehow, rather Ahead of her twin brother
