  1. It's Ok, though it can make you feel very prickly and irritable. And milk supply may dry up/taste change so the baby rejects it
  2. Batgirl, i did read somewhere in southwark gumph, scrutiny report or admisions book, but cant recall excatly where, sory

I thought this was a planned increase I saw in the southwark info... i am guessing they will have two small classes or some sort of mixed age thing going on? The limit on 30 in an infant class is a statutory limit

We walk from Nunhead to Goose Green - it > takes 20 mins and is a lovely walk past Peckham > Rye and then Goose Green Common. Must be about a mile then? I think those who have been offered a school more than 2 miles away (40 mins walk for an adult?) don't see that as local.

  6. i think a lot of people are not reading propwrly and have realised that the disgruntlsd parents have not been allocated a school close to ed at all. these parents wush they HAD been offered GG but that's not the case at all. there does seem to be a black hole down the side of p rye pk where families are too far from any ed school to get a look in
  7. Helen Dunmore Ingo series is great (we listened to it in 2008 when son no 1 was 5 but I think it's really aimed at 9+) They have the CD at the library
  8. THis is GREAT http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/products/matt+haig/the+runaway+troll/6312830/
  9. Yes, we like Just William. Narnia...

Only thing is, PRD, if they HAD applied in time, they would still be ahead of you in the queue!

Mrs Lotte, I think on the contrary, there are a large number of children just outside the ED ward (in P Rye ward, eg the Gardens area) who have no local school been offered. James Barber has been posting very much about hs constituents, rather than the fuller picture of the problem that affects the broader SE22 area. And re the late applications, most of those will be families who have moved into the area, would be my guess, and if they live closer to a given school than someoen else on the waiting list, yes they do get priority...
  12. Arent gumboots relocating temporarily anyway because of their major building works?
  13. Have been for quite a while
  14. Another useful thing can just be threads on here. Much easier to get out to a group if you have the mobile no of someone you can meet up with, esp if it's your first time and you are worried about all the juggling ... I still only venture out alone with my twins if I can meet some other mums, as otherwise it's impossible for me to get to the loo, get myself a drink, food etc and I worry a bit about how I'd manage if one of them cracked their head open... plus it's more fun. It's lonely being out on your own with your child/ren and all the other mums seem to have buddies.
  15. Even those of us who don't get much time without our existing broods might be able to help out a bit via email etc or grabbing time for a cuppa when we can. I think having a September (or sept/oct) group with a couple of mums attached to help out, and getting together before the births, then repeating for nov might work well...
  16. We use a company whose name I can't remember who are usually pretty good though once or twice we have had to use our own seat, and they have kept it in the boot and tirned up to ferry us home on the return journey!
  17. My cat was sure we had bought the moses basket and lined it with sheepskin just for her and used to hop un whenever it was vacant.

  19. Alec, wen o read to our children too. Mr F reads to child no 1 at bedtime every night (aged 7) and it is a habit we don't wnat to drop, I think it contributes to his love of books.
  20. They do. In the absence of NCT tea groups, it should also be possibele for a group of mothers with babies born around the same time, to get themselves together for moral support too.
  21. I had a huge u-shaped 5 feet long one and it saw me through the twins
  22. Any spare eyes will be appreciated as my two (even though they swivel very well these days!) don't go far when it comes to two determined 25m olds..
  23. Are they accepting names on the Gum Boots waiting list atm? When I tried for mine, there was a wait to even get to wait.... I gave up in the end!!
  24. WE had a big bag of buckets and spades but they are rather spread around the house, garden, beds etc... ikea plastic cups make a good substitute mind you.
  25. Is the name of the alarm company on the alarm? call them?
