  1. Salad and raw veg are prob my favourite foods .., so it's not a chore for me to eat them constantly It does seem to have rubbed off fairly well I have one who is mostly a cucumber sort of guy, but fruitwise they all eat pretty much everything And you know, child no 1 who refused raw carrots for years, just started taking them just recently -YES!

  3. When she asks, I would say There is no longer advice to withhold milk But if she's not interested I would take my cue from her X
  4. Dpf if that is true, it really is disgraceful There are so many additional responsibilities that fall to an academy in terms of hr, finance etc ... Let alOne the effects of casting loose from the family of schools and the lea services... It won't be governors who have to pick up all those pieces And a real cost/benefit analysis of grant gained versus free services lost, clearly hasn't been done It's very sad to see a school which should be at thd centre of our community ready to tSke the money and run - the additional funds offered (for now) come from the pockets of other local schools, in effect
  5. Benefit of s side by side is no arguments!

  15. Something worth introducing early on Most meals we have crudit?s, I now serve in two divided melamine party trays Looks nice They cZn choose what they want I put in veg I like such as celery and radishes that they don't like but at least they see me eating Include chopped apple, grape, watermelon if you like I usually serve an adult salad with leaves, nuts, feta etc with dressing and add veg chunks to my portion This system has got them All trying new stuff because it looks so bright and nice, but there is no stress sbout them clearing a veg portion from their plate Research benefits to watching an adult eat the food, serving with a familiar dip (hummous, Philly) or sweet food (fruit) Might be a benefit to trying it with Ketchup (!) or ketchup/Mayo or a dip say of mango chutney and yoghurt
  16. Oh no Bye bye community school
  17. I pored over the info about coeliac disease because I have it in my family and came to the conclusion that the Swedish study (big increase in the disease when introduction of gluten was delayed) wS about the protective effect of introducing gluten while still being bf rather than having started on other milks first (or I think that's what it said, I didn't tSke notes) so went for 7m or so for later children after delaying to nearly a year for child 1 The timing of these foods really is a minefield if you are An allergic family I wouldn't wish on anybody the cows milk allergy Nd eczem I had as a baby (I wAs prem and on an old fashioned formula) but all we can do is the best we can with the available evidence At least then we know we did our best!
