  2. Regardless of whether they pressured the referee to give the yellow, it was a clear as day yellow. Always amazes me when a crowd (any crowd, including ours) applauds a player off who has through stupidity got his team reduced to ten men..
  3. City 4-0 up after 20 minutes.. we do need a goal difference boost!
  4. Not eaten there no, we're the almost Forest Hill part of ED. As stated the bit of Lordship Lane near The Plough is dragging itself up with new butcher and picture framer, FH station is now London Overground (OK not ED), they built a big modern looking new school on Peckham Rye, Thresher's shut down... etc. And people whinged a lot.
  5. The Doctor's calling card (from Remembrance of the Daleks) In the first episode, Barbara addresses the Doctor as "Doctor Foreman", as this is the surname the Doctor's granddaughter Susan goes by, and the junkyard in which they find him bears the sign "I.M. Foreman". When addressed by Ian with this name in the next episode, the Doctor responds, "Eh? Doctor who? What's he talking about?" Later, when he realises that "Foreman" is not the Doctor's name, Ian asks Barbara, "Who is he? Doctor who?" (In an ultimately-unused idea from documents written at the series' inception, Barbara and Ian would have subsequently referred to the Doctor as 'Dr. Who', given their not knowing his real given name.) etc etc from Wikpedia. Not sure if we know his real name, but I just enjoyed Tom Baker on the Ark in space on Watch. Top Quality.

  7. How's Bill's for breakfast? Has he come out yet? Are his wife's friends asking "How can you say you didn't know???!!" Don't tell me about Masterchef by the way, we're just in the last week. Andre went out tonight.
  8. ruffing it?
  9. It looks great and every time I see it I'm disappointed they haven't fitted any propellers yet... Flats are a bit dear though.
  10. When you're younger you can eat what you like, drink what you like and still climb into your 26 inch waist trousers and zip them closed. Then you reach that age, 24 / 25, your muscles give up they wave a little white flag and then without any warning at all, you're suddenly a fat bastard.
  11. I'm watching it tomorrow.. Not sure about Ruiz, it's almost as though he doesn't seem up for it. All properly prepared I'm sure but it's not often you see a fighter missing an opportunity to say he'll win. Like you I fear it will be boring but.... you never know.
  12. There's a Polish shop near The Plough with some fantastic vodkas. This week I'm on a Lithuanian offering.
  13. I think there's loads of getting offended on behalf of others which is wrong, the kind of example I'm thinking of is when it's reported that people are being asked not to wear crosses for instance as it may offend those of other faiths. The other people haven't objected, and when asked tend to say that they respect others showing their faith and have no problem with it. I think that's wrong, yes. Sorry for Off topic admin.

    Is this it?

CERN and the LHC? Webcams here - > http://www.cyriak.co.uk/lhc/lhc-webcams.html to check.
  15. Would you believe Andrew Eldritch of The Sisters Of Mercy? The song is Some Kind Of Stranger from the album First and Last and Always. I can go on about their lyrics but generally they're all thought about, a lot relate to the Wasteland, a whole site here http://1959.tsom.org/index.html
  16. All of my words are secondhand and Useless in the face of this Rationale and rhyme and reason Pale beside a single kiss Not an all time great, but resonates.

With a copy of the paper you leave for the other patrons. Behind the panel, on the cistern.
  18. I'm not offended. Is this one of the occasions where we're getting offended on behalf of other people? (Possibly off topic, sorry admin)
  19. Catching a stranger's eye, of any description, smiling at them, and they smile back rather than think you're a nutter.

Lets hope we get a ref from a proper > footballing nation in the next leg. He did? Admittedly it was a soft penalty and especially sending off for Arsenal but what else did he do that was so bad? Not seen Wenger's interview yet but I wonder if - a) He admits they were beaten by a better team b) He finds something else to blame
  21. Is the disabled bog exclusively for the disabled or is it a question of priority? I routinely use the disabled on a Virgin train rather than walk through another 3 carriages - am I doing wrong SimonM?
  22. My train is the most important, wherever I live. I get on at Forest Hill sometimes and East Dulwich occasionally and FH seems busier to me so I can see the sense. Mind you, I used to get Tulse Hill and when I lived there that was the most important.... iyswim.
  23. Cathyg1947 March 14, 01:48PM How did they get planning permission for this monstrosity? Friern Road School wasn't brilliant but at least it fitted in to the skyline. It's absolutely hideous. - I think it looks great - Posted by: BB100 Today, 10:36PM The children get four hours a week of P.E. which is double most schools. They go to SouthBank for sports and atheletics and Peckham Pulse every fortnight for swimming. They will use the velodrome in the summer for cycling. The new school will have an indoor sports hall and a dance studio and there is outdoor space. Every term they have a whole day of sports and they spend a day sailing. They have a sports day and an interHarris sports day. They have football tournaments at the weekend. If your child doesn't like sport or the outdoors I suggest don't send him there. - Sounds fantastic. - I don't know where most of the posters here went to school but my secondary schools had small playgrounds and decent grounds. At dinner time we played footie with a tennis ball on the tarmac, and the grounds ended up being irrelevant. So as far as I can see as long as there's a bit of tarmac for dinner and somewhere to go for games lessons then all's good. Also I tend to think the clause for extra bodies in a year is a bit like the one in virtually any work contract that says from time to time you may be asked to work extra; it's a get out. In a few years no doubt there'll be someone grateful it's there as it allows younger brother to attend the same school as his brother, even though it's one over the numbers.
  24. Errr, OK. Not sure about that but I think I follow. Switzerland though?
  25. People taking the day's newspaper away from the executive (aka 'disabled') toilet at work.
