  1. Well, not so much have, as haven't, or rather, can't. Apparently it's genetic if you can't curl your tongue, but as far as I know the rest of my family can, while I can't. Oh, and not a physical thing you can see as such, but I have synaesthesia (more info here too, and I bet after reading the link, there will be at least one other person on the forum with it who'll say 'there's a name for it? I thought everyone did that!') Elizabeth
  2. I just watched the repeat and all I can say is...wow! Bill what a fantastic achievement. To be able to enjoy it knowing that you didn't compromise on what you wanted, and importantly, didn't compromise on your ethical commitment to a green building must make it all the sweeter. Would love to take a peek if you do an open house! Elizabeth
  3. One quick suggestion: you mention you've been onto the vets, but have you actually taken the cat in for them to run their microchip scanner over its back to see if it's chipped? If it's had the chip in for a while you may not be able to feel it under the skin with your fingers, but a quick zap with the scanner and you'll know for sure if there's one there. Elizabeth

The wildfow > l of the SE22 Oooh that would be great! Or an Andy Goldworthy type stone arch perhaps? Though would something too eye-catching mean I'm even *more* likely to be run over on the pedestrian crossings because drivers won't look in the direction they're going? (Yes I'm talking to YOU, silly man looking almost behind your car while travelling forwards yesterday, and YOU crazy woman who looked straight through me and caused me to yelp and leap out of the way as I crossed!)

  7. I'm veggie too and I had the veg antipasto at G&B on the weekend and it was lovely. The marinated grilled courgettes were really fabulous! Elizabeth

Just how 'liberal and > forward-thinking' are the WI these days? The EDWI did do the traditional cake stall at the fair, but we're planning to do lots of fun and less traditional events. Things that have been mentioned include wine tasting, car/bike maintenance, handy-round-the-house type stuff (how to rewire a plug etc), walks, theatre nights - all sort of things. Essentially the thoughts are that if a member is interested in something, and others would be up for it too, then we'll go for it. I also suspect there will probably quite a number of 'hang out, have a few drinks and chat' type evenings, which, as we're meeting regularly in a pub, will probably happen at least once a month once the main business/aim of the meeting is dispensed with. It seems most women are interested in joining to make new local friends and have some fun nights out. Elizabeth
  9. Re the I heart SE22 bags, yes they were more expensive than others, but they were a higher quality too. I paid ?4 for a Dulwich Festival bag at the fair, but it wasn't nearly as sturdy as the SE22 bags. However, I wanted one I could roll up small and keep in my handbag. I assumed the high cost of the SE22 bags was due to a small production run, higher quality materials, and that it's a profit-making enterprise. Hopefully the price will come down with higher quantities of production as I would like to have one of them as well for carrying heavier items.
  10. Ooooh if there was something like Mildred's locally I'd be there every day I reckon.
  11. Hi Rhian Our next meeting is Weds 6th June. Visit http://groups.google.co.uk/group/edwi to join and keep abreast of EDWI news. Elizabeth

  13. Hi everyone Just a quick note to let you know that we've now set up an EDWI group at Google Groups, so we can keep all the emails, files etc in one place. If you haven't yet received an invitation to join the group, please visit: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/edwi to join. Then all we need to do to email everyone is send an email to [email protected] You can also elect to receive each email as it arrives, receive one daily email with a digest of all that day's emails, or read the emails only on the web. If anyone needs any help, please get in touch. Elizabeth

  15. I once sang with a band called The Repeatles...no prizes for guessing the sort of stuff we covered. An ex of mine once had a band called Bourgeois Mongoose, now *that* is baaaaaad.

Fantastic! Well done for taking the initiative. It would be great to get the traders on board with something like this as others have suggested.
  17. Hi all New to the forum and will soon be new to ED as well (moving in May). I'd love to come Tuesday night if you can squeeze one more body in. As an ED newbie, a fun WI sounds like a great way to make local friends (and, importantly, jam/cakes/etc). Elizabeth
