  1. There are plenty of minicab drivers who park nearby though and wait for call-outs on the street. You can usually tell where they've been as there's a collection of take-away rubbish scattered round the pavement/gutter. If they're not based in an office then it's possible that they have no access to a toilet and have to make do with a bottle..? Speculation of course. The thing that disturbs me the most is that somebody is *deliberately* leaving the bottles out in plain view, they *want* them to be seen or they'd dump them in a corner or better still pour the contents down the drain and recycle the bottle. It's just plain weird, gross and a bit creepy too!
  2. If you look at the pics above you will note that the contents of the bottle do not match the labels. Even if it did, how would you know where it was bought?
  3. we had a nightmare over Christmas and the new year - our recycling bins weren't collected at all and we had to store excess in our house and even resort to using our neighbours' blue bin as their is no-one there using it. Really fed up with the whole thing, feels like a lottery when it comes to it being emptied and hardly encourages people to recycle?!
  4. Yeah, hence the first reply I got back... Hadn't seen it though!
  5. Funnily enough I just went to get my eyes checked last week after not having them done for quite a few years. I had my eyesight corrected by Ultralase... who I think were the first of their kind in the UK. I had it done at the Hammersmith location by a doctor Vinod Gupta... awesome guy! Only regret was not doing it sooner. Oh and I had them done in September 2004 and they are still better than 20/20 - woo hoo! Ultralase also have introduced a Lifetime Care Guarantee which is very interesting... basically, if my eyesight deteriorates I can have the procedure done again for free. I'm hoping that never happens and I've no reason to believe it will given how stable my sight has been since the operation. One of the best things I have ever done!
  6. Ahh, it seems a topic has already been raised for this!
  7. Oh! I see... well at least I'm not the only one who finds it all quite disturbing!!
  8. Hi there I feel a bit weird starting a thread about such an odd topic but it's one that has been perplexing me for quite some time now! Somebody is leaving bottles of an orange liquid at the top of Worlingham Road where it meets Crawthew Road. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yS4vnd3qoDc/Twx2WiamzjI/AAAAAAAACtI/OTPjOHmkRi8/s320/IMG-20111222-01213.jpg Until recently there were loads on the BT box and more in an old recycling box: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5mkG9RPn2KU/Twx2WRj_yXI/AAAAAAAACs8/ZWX061ehIoQ/s320/IMG-20111222-01214.jpg Somebody cleared them all away a couple of weeks ago but more have come back since. Although I try not to speculate too much as to what it could be in those bottles... cider making gone wrong... an abundance of orange squash...? I can't help but wonder what and why? I really hope it's something relatively innocuous... nobody could be that dehydrated surely?! My son guessed at workmen without a loo - I hope to God he's wrong! Can anyone shed light on this bizarre occurrence?
  9. I'm on 3, it's generally very good in ED but really patchy in the Village can't beat the all-you-can eat data and minutes deals though, it's what made me leave O2 who I'd been with for over 10 years!
  10. I might be wrong but I think Waitrose does deliver to ED now. They couldn't in the past due to the money tied up with Ocado which meant they had the inner M25 monopoly but I think they've released their hold a little... give it a go :-)

Annabel, apologies for not replying to this, you must have been posting while I responded to another question! If James Barber does indeed know of a suitable site I'd be only to happy to pass the details on. Like I said before I don't work in property, but I do work at Head Office and know who to contact as when I moved to ED about 18 months ago I sent an email expressing my disbelief that there wasn't a Waitrose in either ED or Herne Hill where I'd just moved from! I found it strange that Sainsbury's appeared to have the monopoly in the SE areas I knew. I was told it was partly due to lack of space in available locations, and also a lack of larger stores. HH and ED are both very affluent areas that Waitrose would love to move into but, because of that fact, other supermarkets don't want to leave the area! Can't blame them really :-)
  12. They're still just not big enough, Waitrose stores need a lot of sq feet, even the convenience format ones. That's what I've been told. I don't work in Property though, I don't make the decisions.
  13. I work for John Lewis and I can safely say that when space allows for a Waitrose we'll be straight in. Unfortunately there just isn't any right now! We've had our eye on both Herne Hill and ED for many years and recognise there is definitely a market and demand, it's just that we need a decent amount of space and any store that has it doesn't want to part with it! It's a shame as I'd love to claim my 15% discount, but then I really rate the local businesses we have like LocalGreens, William Rose butchers and GG Sparkes mobile butcher at the Saturday Northcross Rd Market. However, it would be great to buy the food I get at Sainsbury's from Waitrose instead ;-)
  14. most people I know have had some sort of this horrible sickness I have mercifully been spared the worst but my boyfriend's been really bunged up and foggy with a headache... my son's also had the headache (although no other symptoms) for a while now everyone on the train sounded like they had it too - must be the season to be snotty! tra la la la laaaa la la la lar ;-) wishing everyone a speedy recovery!
  15. Merry Christmas to all (whether you're SE22, SE21, SE23, SE15 or SE5 ;-) ) Oh and best wishes for the New Year also (although I know it's a little early!) Tara x
  16. what a shame that Jenny's thread has been hijacked in such a manner seriously, if you don't like cats then fine, don't post on a thread/threads concerning them with the intent to cause upset, it's not funny... it's not even childish, it's just really sad and pathetic
  17. You lot are utterly charming
  18. Funnily enough I just ordered a pair of YakTrax today! not sure where the most local outdoor shop would be from here, are there any in Camberwell/Brixton? There's a Blacks in Victoria. High Street Kensington has about 3 outdoor shops back on the same row from what I remember. Covent garden probably best though :-)
  19. yeah... actually I had a rethink yesterday morning as I turned onto east dulwich road and hobbled along using my crutch to get the bus... I was so close and I'm sure the bus driver saw me but he just closed the doors - despite a kind lady trying to get him to leave them open! it happens all too often... plus had an awful experience on there a week or so back with a woman giving me grief because my rucksack banged into her... I tried to explain that I couldn't help my bag because I was holding onto a crutch in one hand and hanging onto the bar with another trying not to fall over or twist my newly operated on ankle! All the while people (not elderly, disabled, pregnant etc) sat in the priority seats just staring at me making no effort to get up... maybe it's just bad luck but I never have a problem getting offered a seat on any other routes!
  20. OMG!! Haha!
  21. Cool! Did it do the trick?

Lilolil, she already uses a feliway diffuser (see original post) so was just asking if anyone had any experience using Bach's rescue remedy with animals Tara
  23. I'd vote the number 37 is worse!!
  24. You should try visiting Worlingham Road ;-) half the street starts at number 30 and runs up sequentially (no side for odds, side for evens)... the other side runs back the other way and there is no house number 24!! very odd
  25. why don't you post this on the local businesses thread... will be interested to see any reponses you might get (for selfish reasons I'm afraid!)
