The program's researchers produced official figures that support his claims.
  2. Sounds cool - I want one!

Not to worry, recently declassified copper polymerisation inhibitors work just as well. > Oh, and I can spell Vietnam too. Don't you know anything about MI5 surveillance? That isn't a typo, it's an ECHELON countermeasure - Vietnam and napalm in the same sentence: you'll have every spook in Christendom crawling up your exhaust port!
  4. Actually, it would be far easier to type: dir filename.ext /s filename.ext being the name of the file you are looking for. Or have I missed something?
  5. If your sound quality and volume are unsatisfactory, it is possible (probable) that your laptop's audio output circuit is faulty. Might be worth having it checked out before the warranty expires - it will only get worse over time.

  7. I've not mastered poaching in a spinning vortex of vinegary water - always end up with something that looks like a frilly jelly fish. I like the sound of the cling film method though, can't wait to try that.
  8. Breaking News: unidentified middle-aged woman admitted to hospital from Tiger's home (mother-in-law?).

Didn't know that, did he?
  10. Dairy cows are quite happy to eat grasses, hay, silage and other foliage plants but, on modern farms, their diet is supplemented with some grain to maximise milk yields.
  11. There is no doubt that, pound for pound, meat protein production puts far more stress on the environment than plant protein production. According to a consensus of articles Googled just now, green house gas production would fall if less meat were produced and people ate the grains now used to feed those animals.
  12. Could this be about, for example, how some middle-easterners signal "no" with an upward head movement that looks like "yes" to Europeans?
  13. I bought the product because I'm interested in General Mills. It's fairly big in the USA. I'm not impressed with its Wanchai Ferry kits, but its share price has done fairly well this year, in fact, it's just made a new all time high: Chart
  14. Acrylic, you say? Ahem. In that case, steam it in a rice cooker for 15 minutes then flatten it out with a rolling pin. Simples!
  15. brum Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No, I wasn't there Yes you were - just didn't recognise yourself without the tash!
  16. Silk tie - virtually impossible to iron back to pristine condition. Dry clean only. If that don't work, chuck it.
  17. I have flu so couldn't go to the drinks - abject boredom got the better of me, I'm afraid.

Choose your preferred 'flavourings' and I'll price them in to the equation, although I doubt they will add more than a penny to my pound. > Buying convenience is all it is. Buying convenience is one thing, being ripped-off like a mug is something else. It so happens that General Mills' Asian division manufactures the sachets and packaging in China and then its Swiss division assembles the product for the European market whereupon a division in Ireland licences local distribution to its UK division! The massive mark-up, unnecessary trans-continental shipping and convoluted chain of pass the parcel is worthy of a sophisticated tax scam or money laundering operation rather than a legitimate food distribution venture - but, hey, what do I know?
  19. Goodliz - some types of rice have a starchy coating and therefore benefit from an intermediate washing stage but Basmati is a polished, long grain rice with very little surface starch - otherwise my method above wouldn't work. I suspect your mother-in-law's method was intended for another type of rice, of which there are many.

It doesn't do any harm - most Pilau rice recipes start off by frying a little onion and garlic before adding the rice and water. > Hal, hope you > don't blow a fuse but is there such a thing as > perfect rice that's 'fluffy'? Is it not overdone > if it gets to that? By "fluffy" I mean that the grains are dry and do not stick together. The grains themselves are al dente, i.e. they should have a 'bite'.
  21. I wonder whether Obama would have still received the Peace Prize if the Nobel Committee had known that he would order 30,000 more troops into Afghanistan?
  22. Hi there BBW - hope all is well with you. Hope your come back is progressing well - right now we could use a good distraction! Take care.
  23. I think the most damning evidence against Knox was that she attempted to put a third party in the frame who was subsequently exonerated by the police - that type of evidence weighs heavily against someone in the dock.
  24. 1 part Basmati (or Patna) rice. 2 parts water (by volume). Salt to taste. Add a dash of Turmeric powder for yellow rice (optional). Bring to the boil in a covered saucepan and simmer on medium heat until the rice is slightly wet. Remove from heat and stand on insulated surface (i.e. a folded tea towel) to steam for approx. 15 minutes or until dry. While standing, use a fork to fluff the rice initially and occasionally thereafter. Result: perfect fluffy rice every time.
