SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I do hope no wasteful, une-eco-friendly plastic > products are used... Actually, my new venture just commissioned an environmental study on plastic and rubber accessories. It turns out they contribute less to global warming than their man-powered organic equivalents while providing deeper and longer lasting consumer satisfaction. That goes for the battery operated ones, too. -
That soft white cheese with bits of shrimp in it - eaten straight out of the squeezy tube. And Delibes' The Flower Duet from Lakm?. And Jay Ungar's Ashokan Farewell.

monica: My new service can set you up with a very tasty shagpile for a small fee. I'll waive the fee if I can watch. -
Mark Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There is a module available but the admin involved > in monitoring discussions and splitting threads We cross-posted. Just editing this to say that the systems I'm referring to carry out the sub-threading automatically - there's no need for manual splitting (although that is often available as a separate facility). > and the subsequent confusion it can cause would > not be worth implementing. The whole idea is to clear up confusion - well, from the forum user's point of view. I'm sure implementing such a system on the admin side isn't a cakewalk. > Keeping it simple works on this forum. Fair enough. I've been spoilt by nearly twenty years with sub-threaded news readers on Usenet newsgroups. I guess this format, arcane as it seems to me, is simple enough for everyone and does the job well enough.

From the Drawing Room: Re: NHS staff - 50% higher rate of sickies That thread in particular has become very muddled as several different strands of the argument are now running in parallel requiring a lot of concentration to keep up with the different voices. The problem arises because this forum displays messages in chronological order. The solution is software that creates sub-threads as a debate bifurcates. I don't know whether sub-threading is available as an option or a plug in - I doubt it, but it might be worth a mention here in case anyone else has any thoughts or views. If this has been the subject of a previous discussion ? I apologise.

NHS staff - 50% higher rate of sickies

???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ... what a jumble of arguments and a mess this > thread is. ... there are several strands going on ... This is where multi-threaded software would offer a great advantage: it groups sub-threads together as a debate bifurcates. It requires far more discipline and concentration to keep up with all the different voices when messages are displayed one after the other as they are on this forum. I'm not complaining - just saying: a solution exists. -

Tried markers: apart from tasting awful, they kept getting licked off. When I did reverie inductions I gave subjects an audio tape, and later, a DVD of their sessions. Assuming you are serious about these lessons, have you thought about providing a DVD? (Did I mention I've got a good digicam with long zoom and close up lenses?) We could make a killing selling copies on the web, too! -

The outside chance is that this is a three-wave down cycle, which would mean that we are not even half way to the bottom yet. The down turn in the US, whose cycle seems to be running ahead of us, is already experiencing a second wind. A fall in the value of the pound (and dollar) may be inevitable if inflation is seen as an acceptable debt repayment policy. In which case double-digit inflation/interest rates are likely to drive the third down wave. In any event, past recessions are all but worthless as guides to the current situation: this is not a regular bear market - we are in the aftermath of previously untested rescue measures cobbled together following the collapse of a global asset super-bubble. Those measures could still fail or even precipitate unintended consequences that are worse than the original problem. Forecasting is no better than guesswork at the moment because we don?t have a functional model of this economy. We didn?t even have one for the pre-crisis economy; otherwise we could have prevented its collapse.
