  1. Not sure about Sutton being "most normal" town. I grew up there and always thought it was just dull. With barely restrained sexual frustration bubbling into violence. Much like the Daily Mail.

Although I am mixed-race, I look (and > mostly identify as) white and I'm an immigrant. > And where I live there are quite a few immigrant > Poles. I wasn't really asking - more just wondering what the Telegraph had used for their stats. And also pointing out that "who do immigrants vote for?" is much more complex than "not UKIP".

I had wondered that but the numbers of actual migrants is still so small as to not affect voting patterns that highly I would have thought. Also, I wonder what "immigrant" is qualified as. For instance, Peckham might be home to a majority non-white population but they might not be counted as immigrants if they are second or third generation.
  4. Fear of the unknown too? Whereas those areas who live among high levels of immigrants realise there's nothing to worry about? That and people in Norfolk and Lincolnshire are inbred half-wits.
  5. You don't think Fury could take him? He's big. Bigger than Wlad. That never happens so will make Wlad think twice to start with and have to adapt his style. Second, Fury can jab well and work behind it. He's got stamina. He hits hard and I'm never sure about Wlad's jaw, it's just that most fighters can't get near it.
  6. Interesting UKIP/Immigration graphic
  7. On a different tack, what fights are people looking forward to in 2015? Or what fights would people like to see in 2015? Matthew Macklin vs Golovkin in Feb will be a cracker but sadly I judt don't think there is anyone to beat Golovkin at the moment. He's like a Russian tank. I wonder if he'll look to move up a division if he wins this one. Is there anyone left for him at middleweight? Will Froch get a final fight in Vegas before he retires? At Welterweight there is a surfeit of talent - PBF, Pac-man, Bradley, Khan, Brook, Marquez and I'm hoping Keith Thurman begins to make some headway - he looks talented and hits really hard. Fights between all of these are guaranteed humdingers. Up with the big fellas I think we might see Tyson Fury in against Wlad and I think an upset might be on the cards. could we see the first ever Gypsy heavyweight champion of the world?
  8. It's all a little bit Naseem Hamed ptII isn't it? Except not as talented.
  9. That and a couple of spectacular losses that set him back a good year each time. That first one, Precott, was such a shock to him. Endless changes of trainer haven't helped either.
  10. I hadn't realised he's now 28. With his hand speed being his primary asset, he's not got long left at the top. Where has the time gone?

  12. Keef is now Otta Sean became S Jack Mockney turned into El Pibe And I've forgotten who was Mick Mac

    PIZZA

Try telling anyone from Emilia-Romagna not to eat dairy and use olive oil instead. They'll look at you like you're a peasant from Sicily.
  14. Keith Lemon, twat that he is, doesn't actually do harm though. He's divisive but only in the way I struggle to understand how anyone watches him. But he is essentially harmless. A talent free knob. But safe. The other stuff....the lowest common denominator make-myself-feel-better-by-pouring-scorn-on-others stuff. That makes me angry hulk. These aren't documentaries looking to educate or give insight. They are there simply to entertain in the same way badger baiting used to. Laughing at a others misery. For shame. And that's not my middle class liberal pinko voice. That's my human one.
  15. Nearly all supermarkets sell 'sourdough' bread now. And a lot cheaper than local craft bakeries. Why? Because they are tapping into a market for aspiration. And because, as has been said by others, it is not the same product. It's not a protected name so anything can be strictly labelled as such without comeback. It's not the same product. Read Andrew Whitely's Bread Matters to learn about modern mass production techniques and the quality of flour they use and then come back to me.
  16. ????/Bob - were people not adequately catered for prior to these programmes? Did anyone sit around in their pants and bemoan the lack of daytime tv shows that mock and decry the poor and disposessed? No, didn't think so. Your logic is false too if it is simpl "if people will watch it then we must put it on". There should be harm tests for public broadcasters. They have responsibilities that come with the right to show programmes.
  17. Likewise, I use Fran, who comes to my house and cuts my hair and my 3yo son's. He used to have a salon nr the Patch a few years back. Number is 07827754365
  18. While I'm grateful to be lumped in with chianti swilling Islington-dwellers, *Bob*, you are right that JK is not made for me. But it is made by me. I mean, people like me. Except that they're c*nts. It's not made by the feckless, the poor and the idiotic. They might be forced to appear and tormented by Kyle's ringmaster in this circus of every-day freaks but they sure as heck don't make it. It is made by meedja types though. Those chianti swillers. And they set an agenda. It seeps into every day life. Newspapers join in. Again, edited and written not by some underclass looking at itself but by the chatterati. And the cycle is complete. That's not a mirror. That's the tv equivalent of making a monkey smoke a cigarette for loose change.
  19. Sorry *Bob* - I don't buy that. That absolves TV producers from any responsibility of their content. "We're just giving the people what they want..." is not an excuse to turn out programme after programme that exploits those unable to defend themselves. See 'Jeremy Kyle'. Newspapers try and use the same schtick and it's bollocks there too. The media sets the agenda just as much as it jumps on existing bandwagons.
  20. I agree with Tracy - my experience of Brick House breads suggest they keep very well indeed. 5 days no problems and toasts exceedingly well.
  21. Is there a Fight Club style twist to this story Quids? You know, where it turns out that you've been talking out loud on the bus about gambling for months? And then blow up Ladbrokes.
  22. I thought you didn't like sneering at white van man? Now pandering to him is depressing?
  23. Otta - interesting personal account here. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/dec/03/leaving-labour-green-party-social-change
  24. Late Knights brewery are opening their brewery shop this weekend if people are interested in some local brews ready for xmas.
  25. The Rosewood Hotel in Holborn is looking very fetive at the moment (I can see it from my window at work) and has a lovely restaurant that do breakfasts. Might be worth looking at. If you find a place with a real fire open for breakfast in central London - let me know!
