Hmmm.... not always so friendly from my experience. The young staff can be mean and moody! Also, frustratingly it keeps closing early e.g. closed on a Saturday when usually closes at 5pm. On a positive the food and coffee is good though!
  2. Well on my way to Clapham Junction to get to work and my concern about the timetable is valid. Ended up waiting at Denmark Hill as the timetable dictates that it takes 9 mins to get from Peckham Rye to DH. Anyway at least it's easier to get a seat on this train!

One day....

Pesky planes.
  6. antantant Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > 30 mins to go 5 miles?! Yikes. Actually 20 to 25 minutes having taken a second look. Still longer than I expected as currently takes me the same going on 2 trains via Battersea Park to CJ.
  7. The timetable is now available for the new Clapham Junction to Highbury & Islington via Surrey Quays extension (I picked one up from Peckham Rye station yesterday). Trains are every 15 minutes, but depending on the time of day it can take between 20 to 30 minutes to travel to Clapham Junction from Peckham Rye. I'm not sure why this is as it's still the same number of stops! Anyway it'll still help with my commute to work!

Problem is my work is about 15 minutes walk from Turnham Green, so not sure it will help too much. I think I'll stick with my current route until the EEL opens in December. Thanks all!!!

  10. I've just started a new job based in Chiswick. However, I'm trying to work out the best and quickest way to get there. This morning I took a bus to Peckham (I live off Barry Road), a train from Peckham to Battersea Park, followed by another train to Clapham Juntion and finally another to Chiswick. Door to door it took me an hour and 10 minutes. Is there a quicker way to get there with less changes please? The 37 bus from ED to CJ would take far too long unfortunately. Roll on December when there will be direct trains from Peckham to Clapham Junction!
  11. I'm sure the charity may disagree, but can see your point.
  12. When walking home in the early hours of Saturday morning I saw a man and a woman stealing from the charity clothes bank on Hindmans Road. I shouted at them and they soon left but with a few bags of stolen clothes. Beware!

  14. My blue bin was left on the pavement outside by the council this morning but has not even been emptied! I've noticed it's the same all down Upland Road. What's going on??
  15. genwilliams Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I didn't because I suppose I thought the police > would think I was wasting their time over a potted > plant, but if you think I should, I will! A couple of years ago my neighbours had their potted plants stolen on Upland Road. However, the not so cunning thieves left a trail of earth leading to their front door! My neignbours reported it to the police, but despite the evidence guess what.... they did nothing. Unless you chain the pots down, I wouldn't suggest having them.
  16. yeah still blocked off and saw an ambulance arrive on the scene too
  17. Since approximately 7.30am today a dark grey Vauxhall Astra's (reg. LV07 OYW) car alarm has been going off continuously outside my flat on Upland Road. It is doing my head in, but also flattening the car's battery! Who owns it please???
