  2. Lots of reasons for someone to cough, hay fever for one this time of year, and as for ''red in the face and sweating'', weren't we in the middle of a heatwave two weeks ago? Makes me wonder why we bother with the NHS when we have the likes of Mr Been among us who can diagnose from afar...

  4. Exactly snowy, the US and NZ constitutions and election rules are completely different, NZ's, and I believe the UK's too, allows for delaying an election, the US's doesn't, even leading Republicans have come out and said the election can't be delayed, come Jan '21 Trump will stop being the US president unless he wins the Nov election. Even if the election was somehow delayed Trump couldn't remain President, yet he want's to do both. Recently he's spoke about remaining President beyond the fixed 2 terms, whereas genuinely successful Presidents have had to step down after their second term because that's what's required constitutionally. The man is deranged, have you read his 'tribute' to his recently deceased bother, it's all about him, quite extraordinary. Do you seriously think Trump would ask for a delay if he was polling 60+% like Ardern currently is? Ardern would win a landslide, she's clearly putting the health of the country before politics. The two countries have had completely different strategies in dealing with Covid, NZ wanted to hit the virus 'hard and early' by having a total lockdown, which until this recent outbreak (minuscule compared to the US's daily rate of cases) was extremely successful compared to most countries. Delaying the election by a month is a continuation of this strategy and hopefully will reap similar results. Whereas with the US there has been no coherent strategy, no total lockdown, so what would delaying the US election actually achieve apart from Trump trying to avoid an election defeat? As usual it's about Trump putting himself before country, just as he always has...

  7. 01337 is Ladybank in Scotland, this was 01775 (Spalding). Curious to know why leave a message in a foreign language, is the scam that you are charged the earth for answering the call?...
  8. Had a strange call earlier to my mobile, not recognising the landline number I didn't answer the call thinking it was someone probably selling/scammimg etc, then Googled the code, it was a Spalding (Lincs) number, while doing that I got an alert to say a voicemail message had been left, then listened to what sounded like a 20sec message in Chinese. All very odd...
  9. Have I Got News For You, satirical show... As the government faces mounting criticism for its handling of the A-level results fiasco, Test and Trace staff are asked to focus their attentions on trying to locate Boris Johnson.

Prime Ministers invariably shape their governments in their own image. This blustering, bumbling amateurishness is not temporary. It will go on as long as Johnson is in No 10.

The SD holiday was only announced a month ago, a sale on average take 2-3 months to complete, therefore there's been no time for the effects to filter down as per normal i.e. increased sales = house prices going up. This is estate agents, and perhaps sellers too, seeing an opportunity to artificially put up prices knowing that buyers potentially have some extra cash to play with by not having to pay SD...

  18. According to their website B&Q stock F&B so they should have sample cards in store, but worth ringing to check as each store may be different. Failing that, Brewers in Peckham (along from Queens Road station)definitely stock F&B and have colour cards and sample pots, or they can get them in on order, they might even do a colour matching service, so again worth ringing to find out...

  20. Woodchip isn't used for aesthetic reasons, usually it's covering up crappy looking walls as it's cheaper than plaster skimming. It's a lottery as to what condition the walls might be in underneath, from a few minor blemishes and cracks to a complete re-plaster. If you can't afford the latter or don't want the inconvenience that would entail, then best to leave alone and paint over. Solvite make a handy tube of wallpaper adhesive for sticking down loose edges etc which I've used successfully. If you decide to keep the woodchip, any painting over will have to be done using a thick brush rather than a roller. If you decide to remove the woodchip then be prepared that parts of it won't peel or scrape off easily, and you might need to hire a steamer. I'd also go down the route of colour-matching the F&B colour you like. Good luck!..
  21. Spartacus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So rather than us all > pointing the finger at our government maybe we > should all be asking for information on how the > pandemic started and what needs to happen to stop > the next one... I'm sorry, but you can't detach one from the other, they are entwined. You need to point out the mistakes the Gov has made in order to learn lessons from them and hopefully not repeat them. The question you should be asking is why this government and it's apologists on here won't admit to these mistakes. I note from j.a's reposte to our resident racist...'' The British govt has admitted that they locked down too late''...but they haven't been that specific, as the FT reported a couple of weeks ago... Boris Johnson has admitted the UK government could have responded to coronavirus pandemic ''differently'' and that there remain ''very open questions'' as to whether Britian's lockdown was introduced too late. Until this Government acknowledges the mistakes it's made, and with some of those mistakes e.g care homes, apologises, then we are never going to come together as a nation...
  22. One of the few things Johnson has got right during this pandemic is describing the anti-vaxxers as idiots. Couldn't agree more...
  23. seenbeen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Loads of people flouted the rules from day 1 and > are STILL flouting the rules as the idiots seemed > to think (I wonder why???) that Dominic Cummings > gave them carte blanche to do just what they > liked. Care to quantify ''loads''? You're previously posted anecdotal 'evidence' of people walking around Lordship Lane is meaningless, you don't know why they were there or what they were doing, and begs the question why and what were you doing there? The overwhelming majority of the population adhered to the lockdown, while occasionally the press would zoom in on random cases of a couple sitting on a beach, or someone driving their car to go for a walk in a beauty spot, and so on. DC's eyesight test holiday stuck two fingers up to all those who had adhered to the lockdown, so although I agree with Spartacus' point about not 'jumping off the cliff' too, I can understand why many were angry enough to do so. None of this should distract, for that's what you're trying to do, from the Gov's failure to enforce a lockdown much sooner than it did after flip flopping from it's initial 'herd mentality' strategy. One of several reasons why this Gov has so much blood on its hands, and I see that another group of MPs has released a damning report of the Gov's shambolic role in this pandemic, and right on cue after my last post, it highlights the serious errors regarding border control and quarantining...https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53654644

It's just as likely that tourists, business people brought it back with them. Even during the lockdown we were still letting in tourists untested. The buck stops with Johnson and his cabal...
