  1. It's a pointless exercise unless your end point is a beauty spot whereby you can all sit down by a river, relieved that you didn't end up in A&E or worse. It will also add to the occasion if the day of travel coincides with your wife's birthday...

They left before the lockdown was implemented, Cummings left after. Total false equivalence. > Also, if he had > stayed at home and they had both got too sick what > was going to happen to the child? Do they get a > stranger in to look after him and subject that > person to the virus in their home? 'If' is doing a lot of work here. That 'if' was made by every parent in the country, even more so by single parents. The vast majority of them stuck to the guidance and rules as laid out by the Gov of which he is a major player in. So for Cummings it was 'do as I say, not as I do'. > I cannot > understand how the DC detractors do not UNDERSTAND > what he did....as a parent I understand and if my > kids were small I would have had to do the > same....my sister lives miles away- and if she was > ill I'd allow her kid to come to me or I'd have > picked her up....it's what families do and he did > not have contact with anyone else- unlike the > hordes in the park and on Alleyns field. Cummings is a very well-off, well connected man, has close family in London, and a large network of close friends, work colleagues and neighbours. The rule was simple, if someone in a family shows symptoms, self-isolate at home for 14 days. As I've mentioned before in a previous reply to one of your posts, he lives in a large house and there would be no problem for his wife to have self-isolated. The whole premise of going to Durham was for childcare reasons. He failed that several times. Firstly, the science clearly shows that driving in a car with an infected person for a long period of time, in this case around 5 hours, is high risk in terms of passing on the virus. Far greater than one person self-isolating in a bedroom. He would've known this having attended SAGE meetings and hearing all the scientific advice and what was the best way to deal with containing the spread. Secondly, according to his wife's diary for the Spectator, while Cummings lay ill in bed they allowed their son close contact with him, playing at doctor and offering him a medicinal Ribena. So much for childcare and minimising the risk of their son catching the virus. Then there's the latest bizarre revelation that Cummings drove his car knowing he had problems with his vision while his son was a passenger. What an irresponsible thing to do to put a child's life at risk like that. No common sense for the safety of the child whatsoever. > Would he have risked foisting the child onto > social services? Well, would you- I certainly > wouldn't- by the time they turned up he and his > wife would be in hospital and then been prosecuted > for leaving a 4 year old on their own at risk! For reasons stated above this is a nonsensical premise. Completely irrelevant and not based on the reality of Cummings' lifestyle. > Just because he showed common sense and remember > he did NOT meet anyone else...unlike the groups of > teens and young men hanging around the back > streets and playing footie in ED.... Yet more pointless false equivalence. As for common sense, he clearly put his child's health at risk by the actions he took. The sensible thing to do was to self-isolate as the guidance and rules which he helped draw up stipulated. The slogan 'Stay Home' was his. It's this hypocrisy that people are rightly angered with. > > This demonisation of Dominic Cummings is purely > political- you only have to see the body language > and tone of voice of the press vultures to see and > hear where they are coming from....and I daresay > 80% of the posters on the ED...if not more. People of all political persuasions are angry at what he did. Conservative MPs have called for his resignation, and at the time of writing a minister has resigned. This is not about right versus left, rather right versus wrong...

You know, that journey he just had to make because he had such important work to do in London...

Suffering with eyesight problems, would you have willingly driven a car for over an hour with your wife and young child as passengers?...
  5. From Twitter...I feel sorry for that Professor who lost his job for shagging during the lockdown. He should've just said he was worried his penis had stopped working and he wanted to double check. :) :) :)
  6. Mr Cummings goes for his yearly eyesight check...
  7. Dear apologetic Tory MPs, any chance we can have an apology from the heart rather than a copy and paste job?...
  8. Take off your ''lifelong Tory'' blinkers Mr Been, even the Mail realises the PM was a disgrace...
  9. Johnson 'headed off the DC situation' by dodging questions, here's some of the 'useful' ones he swerved... -What did PM know and when? -Did DC stop en route? -Did he go to Barnard Castle? -How can "self isolation" possibly cohere with long-distance travel? -Did his child receive childcare? -How can it possibly be said that DC's actions "suppressed the virus"? The ruse they've come up with to play the sympathy card is childcare, something he could've easily got in London where they have close family, and I'm sure even Cummings has a network of close neighbours/friends in London who would've taken the child in had they both become ill and incapacitated. Ditto help with shopping etc. His wife could've easily self-isolated in their house, e.g. stay in a bedroom, probably even have her own bathroom facilities judging by the size of the house, safely away from other family members. Far less risk than driving for 5 hours in a confined space subjecting Cummings and the child to Covid viral overload. These are all things the rest of us have been doing in order to adhere to the 'Stay Home' policy...
  10. An investigation for a since deleted rogue Tweet, and fook all investigating of Cummings flouting lockdown rules...
  11. I prefer the middle option for the graphics, like the typeface and colour and how the letters 'turn the corner', but prefer the B&W image used in the third option. Nothing a bit of Photoshop can't sort out :) Best wishes for the launch...

  13. And Johnson romps home at 25/1!...
  14. I was surprised by yesterday's organised cabinet campaign to big-up Dom. Why go to such lengths and potentially put the brakes on your own career, for someone who is generally not liked and is no more than an unelected advisor. Of course he was a key part of the leave campaign and Johnson's election, but he's still very easily expendable, especially to someone like Johnson who doesn't do loyalty. Sooooooo, it does rather beg the questions that conservative writer Peter Oborne is now asking... This political crisis is no longer about the wretched Cummings. It is about Johnson and, in particular, why the prime minister hasn't sacked him. Is it because he knew Cummings was going to Durham, gave the green light, and therefore authorised a breach of the lockdown rules? If so, it's a big deal, a really big deal...

Sephiroth Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > a) brexit was and remains a ludicrous idea > in practice Ah yes, the 'oven ready' Brexit that is currently festering away > and b) should he decline an extension > he will be responsible for the break up of the UK, Even with an extension and subsequent deal, there will still have to be a border based on what was signed up to last year, so the break-up of the UK, and in particular a future united Ireland, is looking very likely...

  17. If you're bored of the daily briefings, why not have a bet to see who's next to exercise their obfuscatorial qualities. Despite the short odds I'd rule out Shapps, he was on the morning shift and by lunchtime he'll be safely ensconced in his pied a terre slowing banging his head against a wall. So my money is on Jenrick...
  18. I hope the Sunday Times' investigation into the Gov's dithering that led to so many avoidable deaths, doesn't get lost in the Cummings feeding frenzy. Utterly damning...

  21. This must be why it was billed as a joint investigation by different newspapers. 3D chess...:)

Well it's certainly exceptional to be unable to look after a child yet clearly be able to drive a car 250+ miles on a 5+ hour journey. > I'm sure Boris will appear to talk to us about > something soon.
