  1. jrussell, I take my hat off to you. You have singlehandledly brought Huguenot back. Many of us tried...in vain... Welcome back Mr. H. Edited to correct OP's name
  2. Presumably you are talking about dynamos PGC? But then wouldn't some kind of switch system in order to start/stop the indicators still be required?
  3. Very funny karter! They do glow (I have glowing wrist bands)... Flash? They don't, but could do if I really wanted them to. Just means I would look more of a Christmas tree than usual.
  4. PS: perhaps I should clarify the matter with the CE when I speak to him face to face! (Will he tell me the truth though?) LOL!
  5. Sean, I honestly believe that, on this occasion, you are reading too much into a simple comment. SteveT does say: "...I wonder...", he's not stating it as a fact...he just...well..."wonders"... It's not a "generous thought" I'll grant you that at least;-).
  6. Because we have perfectly good arms?
  7. Ooops cross-post...my post in response to Sean's. Agree with DM though.
  8. Was it? Well I didn't see it like that at all. But then...pea brain...

What a > stupid thing to say Sean!!!!! I understood SteveT's comment as meaning that the CE wouldn't donate a great deal in terms of dosh. And as for spending "...most of his waking hours of course, making many difficult decisions...", the CE would hardly be donating this as, presumably, he would be highly paid for such work (and judging by PR's ealier comment this would indeed appear to be the case).
  10. Awwww karter - you say such nice things. And you are the best lil bro anyone could wish for. xx

I am inclined to agree with both you and Mick Mac...direct mailing is somewhat cheeky. Indeed, as per PR's suggestion, I am tempted to question the Chief Executive face to face about the matter.
  13. Absolutely! Lay it on thick and hopefully you won't have to buy any drinks.:)-D

You can show it to all your friends down the pub! Cyclists generally delight in showing off their various scars! As for the reasoning behind the new blue...it gets more and more mysterious...
  15. Sandperson Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They were always planned to be blue, it's just a > 'happy' coincidence that it's Barclays blue. Well that's interesting...and what a coincidence. I mean, out of all the different hues of blue...it turned out to be "Barclays Blue". I am wondering now if this was a persuading factor so far as Barclays are concerned LOL! I saw > the plans for them last year, before sponsorship > was in place and blue was always the colour. I don't suppose you happen to know what the logic behind the new colour was? Was it by any chance because it is more visible than green at night (to me, it is)?
  16. Thank you PR. What does becoming a Member of the FT involve?
  17. Sorry - just to clarify. It seems, according to posters on this thread anyway, that requests by the NHS for charitable donations would appear to be - to a certain extent - not unusual. Though, prior to this thread, I hadn't realised this. On the other hand, a personal letter to patients appears (so far) to be less normal.

Saila Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I personally think it's desparately sad that the > NHS is asking for charitable donations. > However, i think this has been going on for years > hasn't it? It's 'normal'. TBH I hadn't realised (until this thread) that it was normal. I still have mixed feelings about the letter though - they have, after all, used data from patients' medical records to send them unsolicited mailings in pursuit of charitable donations.
  19. Twirly Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Jeremy - how can you be sure it's not the economic > climate? All this talk of cutbacks and then this > letter turns up, did make me connect the two. Yes Twirly, I too felt it was more than just a mere coincidence.
  20. Thanks Jeremy...it's just that I've never received such a letter - from any hospital. From what you say, it sounds as though it may not be all that unusual after all.
  21. Yes but the old lanes are green - it's already confusing! Edited to add: well, not confusing...but inconsistent (which some might find confusing).
  22. I agree...it is a great hospital.
  23. But how do you feel about it cate?
  24. Crikey! It never occurred to me that it might not be genuine:-S. *rushes off to check*
  25. Am I the only fool who has only just twigged as to why the new Cycle Superhighways are blue (as opposed to green as previously)? Apparently, it's because (along with the Cycle Hire Scheme) they are being sponsored by Barclays Bank! Does this mean that, when the 5-year sponsorship deal ends and say, a company such as Santander pick up sponsorship, that they will be repainted red?
