  1. I think what we have here is a Middle Class Warrior. Middle Class Warrior
  2. Surprised that you think pulling out the troops is a "patronising indulgence" for our hosts. Even more surprised that you think they are 'hanging out' not waging war. Isnt the reality 'dramatic enough' at the moment. What would you say to all those who line the streets at Wootton Bassett?
  3. I would say that not going to war in Iraq is a very constructive thing to do. In fact not going to war in Iraq would rank in my top 5 of most constructive tasks of the last decade...ever! I think the stop the war movement is angry that Labour stirred it up in the first place. Remember when Hans Blix the weapons inspector said wait..you dont have to do this but Bush was just too keen.

Do they have any viable > solutions? Stop the War... and then what? Mark.. I dont think any efforts in Iraq or Afghanistan have been a solution to anything. More like settling old scores and revenge. So pulling back the troops and "stopping the war" does not have to come with solutions. The only solution we need is to try to explain, when we pull out, which we will have to do one day, why did so many die and for what. Of course the original goals have been met..long ago. Getting rid of WMD and the training camps..so job done isnt it?
  5. Once soldiers get killed and the politicians look foolish then pulling out gets harder and harder. Nation building started when we realised we couldnt 'win' but had to keep going with a new goal in mind. Is east dulwich ready to help stop the war? How is your safety valve Huguenot..still got some puff left?

  7. Peckhamgatecrasher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So it's not stop a war/s at all, but stop being > vigilant in the face of terrorism? I suggest that vigilance is a different thing from war. War is bombs, invasion, mass killings, etc Vigilance is security checks, police, searches etc
  8. this is what it says on the stop the war website.. but is also admits that broader aims may apply. The aim of the Coalition should be very simple: to stop the war currently declared by the United States and its allies against 'terrorism'. We condemn the attacks on New York and we feel the greatest compassion for those who lost their life on 11th September 2001. But any war will simply add to the numbers of innocent dead, cause untold suffering, political and economic instability on a global scale, increase racism and result in attacks on civil liberties. The aims of the campaign would be best expressed in the name Stop the War Coalition
  9. You mentioned that war is about resources and ideology and that resolving these issues is what is needed. Do we not have the ability to resolve our own ideology?
  10. Hence the birth of the middle class warrior Sly and Reggie..middle class warriors
  11. In what way can we resolve issues of ideology in this country and therefore stop the war?
  12. I was being artfully vague in order to inspire discussion.
  13. East Dulwich has its own branch of the Stop The War Coalition. What do you think of efforts made by local people in support of this campaign?
  14. The trouble Ian is that someone who is not acting suspiciously is still under suspicion with this current way of thinking. A few years ago my family went to the Royal Albert Hall to watch my son perform in a schools concert. We were told that we couldnt take videos due to child protection issues but could buy the video of the performance from the foyer instead! Alienation, suspicion, restricted creativity, fear of adults, lack of spontaneity, etc etc are being stifled here. Reggie What kind of high street do we want
  15. is the pyjama protest still on for tuesday

Hey...its happened..I just found peace. Cup of tea, family around me, jobs done, sitting on the sofa. Now thats reality.
  17. Monica has a campaign about food waste. Chisz..if youre interested try the link and give Monica a hand SNUB website
  18. its a shame cause he's really shot himself in the foot with this one. His horse racing prog was Derren at his best where he fooled and then told the truth which just as entertaining as the fooling. We all knew this one was a 'trick' and to spend a whole hour telling us otherwise was a waste of time. He is a great live performer and a thoughtful intelligent guy who sometimes is a bit crap.
  19. at the end of the show he said..its a trick.. which is as far as any magician will go to explain his own work but he didnt give any detail apart from the bullshit hour mentioned above.
  20. yeah she's right up your street
  21. can i have one of your chips?
  22. bit crap wasnt it? Derren has a mean streak..watching the group get all emotional about their 'work' together but he did tell us how he did it " it was a trick"
  23. a touch of the dulwichmum as well
  24. notice that derren goes quiet as the numbers are released...hmm why? Methinks that the studios mics are then silenced so that the shuffling around isnt heard then turned on again when the balls have been switched if he spoke during this period his own mic might pick up whats going on just to side of him on the split screen the sound of the TV was probably fed to the viewer and not heard in the studio
