  3. I reckon its naive to be cynical
  4. As supporters of the democratic system we support your right to stick your fingers up at us. It is a free country and we would fight to the death in support of those rights. Your message is quite clear..thankyou. Just to clarify our message. We are middle class warriors and are spreading a healing vibe through the medium of our Middle Class Sound System. Twitter ye not?
  5. We will be interviewing Mark Steel, the left wing comic and writer, for the next Suburban Pirate broadcast. We would like the forum to have a space on our podcasts and wondered if anyone has a question they want to ask and we will put it to him. The Suburban Pirate Broadcasts
  6. Lets keep it simple Lily Allen on a double decker bus singing a Beatles song with will shakespeare driving, twice round the track. A world phone in at 50p a go to have your name under the olympic flame.Back in profit before the show starts. Brian May and Anita Dobson with the eastenders theme and that's it..roll the credits What do you reckon? The Suburban Pirate
  7. Marmora Man Yes thats it...by jove I think I'm starting to get through. By the way Ratty can you really not afford to buy bread and milk? As bread and milk are two of the basics in a person's food budget the world over I assume that the following luxuries are now completely unaffordable for you: mobile phone, television, computer, holidays, booze, fags, broadband, take-aways, CDs,DVDs,clothes without the primark label. I am hoping you can afford these things...I was just curious. Suburban Pirate...middle class warrior
  8. ???? You are right to say that the credit crunch was caused by first time buyers getting into trouble, thats why I think its good news about falling house prices..its a cure for the cause of the problem. Was it 'good news' when house price rises brought disaster closer and closer? As Oasis once said 'its a caaaraaazzzy situaaaashunnnn' when we think the only way is up when we all know thats not true. The Suburban Pirate
  9. Hey ???? You missed my point about inheritance tax methinks. If you want to pass your property on, you want it to have a low value otherwise the taxman wades in. Hence falling property prices helps to keep a property from having to be sold. The credit crunch began with house price inflation so surely the opposite must be a good thing...in parts. I thought first time buyers underpinned the housing market and they having been waiting a long time for prices to get more real. I notice you agree that people are paying on houses that are overinflated....I rest my case. I genuinely believe we are wrong to think it is bad news. The Suburban Pirate
  10. ted max I would say that pessimism is just as naive as optimism. On the tomatoes front.... a few years ago an unplanted tomato plant grew up between the cracks in our patio and unwatered produced a whole bucket of green tomatoes. True story. The Suburban Pirate
  11. House prices continue to fall creating more good news for first time buyers and reducing inflation. The good news keeps on coming: 1 Greater appreciation and awareness of the actual place we live in and not just its value. 2 Good news for those who want to pass a property to their children due to reduced inheritance tax liability. 3 Greater reliance on finding useful paid employment thus making our economy more competitive. 4 Cheaper properties reduce the need for borrowing easing the credit crunch and giving the consumer more cash in their pocket. 12. Dont forget you can download East Dulwich Bag for free. Or is that confusing things again? East Dulwich Bag As for me...I can relax with my East Dulwich Bag Regards from the Suburban Pirate
  13. Just finished a game of tennis and this bloke turns up with the biggest set of balls I have ever seen. I gave the man due praise for such a fine display and praised his strength for dragging such a large set across the park in this weather...they were literally dragging along the ground. However I was off home having given my partner a right good seeing to for a good hour in the hot sunshine... we were both exhausted after all that grunting and straining. My shaft was sticky and my own meagre balls were beaten about and depleted.
  14. So the conclusion is: Dont buy a house in Dulwich and then campaign to have that lovely big tree cut down. Buy a house in another street or area. I knew when my house was surveyed that the big chestnut down the road was making the insurance company nervous. But one of the attractions of the street was the trees themselves. But I decided to buy the house and to accept the good and bad aspects of the trees. The Suburban Pirate
  15. Mrs B In what way were the roots "causing problems".

  17. I notice that Calton Ave is almost a proper suburban street now with another large chestnut biting the dust. I hope Southwark and local residents are proud of this latest culling and are looking forward to the nice uniformity of little trees becoming a trade mark of the new Dulwich. The Suburban Pirate
  18. It's White Season on the BBC. The Suburban Pirate, the Dulwich satirical broadcaster, has contributed to the debate with the podcast The Suburban Pirate's 13th Nervous Breakdown. Dulwich presents an interesting mix of colours. If you mix all colours together do you get white? PODCAST Reggie
