  1. i don't get these posts although i appreciate the you mean well shouldn't you hand in such lost property to the police station (where most people will go when they've lost something, if only to get a ref number for an insurance claim)? or have you done that too and are just flagging that it's been found?
  2. i'd certainly agree that it's piddling - especially as it seems she generally doesn't get away with it to me it's effectively just begging (with a sob story, but nothing new there). (obviously i appreciate that her style of begging involves calling on people at home) dialling 999, chasing her, citizen's arrest - all a waste of time and an overreaction in my eyes

  5. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What's the point of following a religion/church if > you're going to pick and choose what to believe? the point is that you choose the bits that you believe to be right, rather than following blindly and without questioning to me this sounds sensible and over time i'm sure assists religions to develop (albeit not so that they actually keep up with the world around them)
  6. for the record, i also agree that the stance on the use of condoms is entirely unrealistic (in terms of expecting people to abstain) and therefore is not good in terms of slowing the spread of HIV, fortunately many catholics choose not to follow the advice (but unfortunately many also follow it)

  10. dulwichmum Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No, I do not. But I do believe that the Roman > Catholic church is an organisation that goes out > of its way to accommodate them. my comments have been around the use of offensive, inaccurate generalisations against followers of the catholic faith, not about 'the church' which i have intentionally not commented on (not least because i don't know enough of the facts and don't find 'evidence' based on the testimony of unnamed ex-cons that reliable)

Shame on the lot of them. i doubt that this is who he was referring to when he was talking about e.g. banging out babies out each year do you believe that it fair to say that catholics (as a group) support paedophilia?

  21. so essentially this thread could be titled - "is your house being repossessed?" "and if so, do you feel guilty now" i guess that anyone who's house is being repossessed has more pressing problems then feeling guilty about the plight of their lender
  22. i used to work in the publishing industry and it's just how it works magazines that are free to the reader generally (and understanbly) see their customers as those that advertise rather than those that read - so the intention from launch isn't let's make a magazine than our readers will want to read (and to be honest tho i look at living south i certainly wouldn't pay for it) it's let's make a mag that we can sell some ads into
  23. it's how they make money, you don't buy the mag so they've got to be nice to those that do pay for it i can live with it
  24. they might be resurfacing the pavement too, they've done so in parts of nunhead
  25. so the lesson to learn is: if you ask for cashback, make sure that you collect it if the scenario reported is indeed some sort of criminal scheme, i've got to say i wouldn't have too much sympathy for victims that can't remember to collect cash that asked for a few seconds beforehand from a person a few feet away whether criminal distraction tactics are used or not
