I think they're putting in a zebra crossing to make it safer to cross the road between the playing fields on the south side and the school on the north side.

Happy to do the speed awareness rather than take the points tbh. Was on my way to a funeral so maybe not concentrating as I much as I should have been.

I've received a speeding for driving at 24mph along Peckham Rye near Piermont Green. Be careful out there !

I've commuted into town for 25+ years and so have been able to see the changes over a long period of time. I'd say that the number of people cycling has increased significantly in that period, especially over the winter period where then the numbers used to drop off in the dark and cold. For me there has always been a degree of bad behaviour but mostly people jumping lights or riding without lights in the dark. However the last 7 years or so it's got a lot worse and in simple terms in my view it's money related. If you're doing food deliveries then you want to do as many as you can I guess to earn the maximum income and you know that you're very unlikely to be pulled over by the police. Similarly the Lime et al riders are paying for hire and it's purely time based so the quicker you get from A-to-B the less it costs you. Then those that are riding their own bikes see the behaviour of others and I guess they think "well if they can do it why don't I". I don't witness a lot of pavement cycling by those on their own bikes other than parents with young children which I understand but don't condone. Mostly it's the same cohort as above - food delivery and rental bikes. C'est la vie I expect. Unless there were significantly increased policing of bad behaviour then it's here to stay.

Hilarious - you don't even know what criteria that's being applied to create the category and yet you're happy to shout it loud and proud. It's on a website ! It MUST be true !

Coppicing ?

Ah... but it ain't Calton Avenue is it ? It crimes within 0.5 miles of the postcode. As I mentioned above there are only 6 crimes on that list that were reported as taking place on Calton Avenue. The website is flawed - it says a street is safe or unsafe but includes data from the surrounding area. Simples.

According to this site, Giff Gaff is your best bet. You only need to make a quick 25p call every 180 days to keep the sim active. Diarise right and that's about 50p a year. https://kenstechtips.com/index.php/best-payg-sim-for-low-usage

Couldn't agree more. I'm thinking of creating a web page that says "Ignore the fake news ! Carlton Avenue is 100% safe !" and sending to R. So when you're quoting the website saying Calton Avenue is unsafe, do you mean Calton Avenue or the postcode SE21 7DE ? Are all the streets included in the numbers impacted by new square ?
-
If the focus of the discussion is Calton then there we only 6 crimes reported. The other are on nearby streets. Also the below is confusing: In 2023, 309 crimes were reported near Calton Avenue . 39% of streets in the UK are more dangerous. This street can be considered not safe. Is it "This street" including or excluding "near" - it doesn't make sense. The bot that creating this nonsense is flawed. I could live in an impenetrable gated community with private security guards where murders were taking place outside on a daily basis and my street would be considered unsafe.

Maybe Robin was wasn't such a great example. Maybe more Dick Turpin. Point is the theft of have's by the have-not's is nothing new. And no, I'm not condoning theft. Nice try.

I think even with PAYG you need to top them up at least every 6 months or the provider may well consider it inactive.

"Households in this area have a much higher level of wealth compared to the average household in England and Wales. 99% of analyzed areas in England and Wales have lower average household annual income than this area." Do you think this might have anything to do with it ? Robin Hood and all that....

I'm sure that @teddyboy23 is in the know.

Temporary traffic lights on East Dulwich Grove
ed_pete replied to ed_pete's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The TW leak is right outside JAGS at the top of the hill and water was flowing in both directions. At one point, combined with the thunderstorm on Sunday afternoon, the road under the bridge on Village Way was flooded as it couldn't drain fast enough. Traffic was turning around rather than risking it. I don't think the lights on the bend are related but could be I guess. -
Anyone know why temporary lights were put in on East Dulwich Grove on Sunday but as of 8am this morning no works are evident ? I imagine works are planned but have been delayed but the team putting in the lights have gone ahead anyway. 🙄 Just as well Alleyns and JAGS have finished...

There was a photo of him a couple years ago wearing a “Fuck The Tories” Christmas Jumper. I wonder if those will all have been quietly removed. Brilliant fodder for the right wing press.
