  1. So are you are saying parity of opportunity does not exist, if that is not discrimination, I really don't know what is??? If you actually read what I had written, I said "what a crass comment you made". I did not call you crass. Yes, anything is possible, there is no such thing as "can't". It's a mindset. Before Transport for London was created, bus stops were NEVER, EVER closed. We have all paid a heavy personal cost over the past 15 months, just think about the thousands upon thousands who have lost their lives through Covid and the impact that has had on friends and family of the deceased. I'd suggest being a bit more thoughtful for those who are less able than yourself and you may just wish to consider the impact these things are having on others in the local community rather than presenting yourself to be so high and mighty, as its a long way up but an even longer way back down.
  2. Nigello - what a crass comment you made, try walking in others footsteps before making your statement and displaying such outright selfish righteousness. Spartacus - Totally agree with you. Some people seem to have the mind set of beggars can't be choosers, how wrong they are. A disability should not deny anyone ever from the right to parity of opportunity.
  3. It's been approved by the Council, will provide lots of new jobs (hopefully) but in view of Covid they may struggle to use the space effectively. There is a general shortage of building materials and potentially workmen due to Covid. Perhaps enjoy the quiet till work resumes.
  4. So this is the plan, looks like office space with a ground floor cafe and meeting rooms, what's to object about it. https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/files/17A158B8E379625B2932AF831DCE2514/pdf/18_AP_3144-Plan_-_proposed-468523.pdf
  5. Alice is that speculation, wishful thinking or do you have any actual evidence to support your statement?
  6. Asked for a blood test for an upcoming hospital appointment, it couldn't have been a more difficult experience, unhelpful, uninterested and effectively like talking to a brick wall, how many times does one need to explain the same thing till they understand. It is so frustrating at times dealing with this practice, sometimes just want to give up.
  7. Really sorry to hear of this horrendous attack, whereabouts on Woodvale did this occur?
  8. And that is because cars are being forced of side streets by the introduction of LTN's onto main roads, including bus routes. This increases congestion and hence journey times.
  9. Generally I've found it to be reasonably reliable, of course it does have blips and if you are unfortunate to get caught up in one of these it can result in longer wait times, sometimes one is cut out and it can add an additional 12-15 minute wait. What I am noticing is a level of complacency with people beginning not to bother to wear a face covering, either when boarding or throughout their journey. Please be considerate and wear a face covering on public transport, it protects both yourself and those around you, especially with the increase in positive cases nationally. richard tudor Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Waited for the P13 towards Streatham this morning > none came but 3 came one behind the other towards > New Cross. > > Dont think this is reliable. > > Is there a problem around the East Dulwich area.
  10. Have to admit the amount of queuing traffic along Lordship Lane especially from Whateley Road to Goose Green and the first part of Dog Kennel Hill has increased, hence an increase in the length of bus journey times. I suspect this is one of the impacts LTN's are having. It is not possible to access the side roads along Grove Vale as they were made into LTN's. It causes general frustration that what we used to have has been removed and replaced with more inconvenience. The sooner these LTN's are removed the better. I feel especially sorry for the local businesses being impacted as a result.
  11. It's looking good there KK.
  12. I don't feel any administration of any political colour would all have had the same lack of experience of dealing with a global pandemic. Cummings was out to undermine the Govt and has succeeded in giving the opposition parties the ammunition to attack on a variety of fronts. Cummimgs clearly wanted to hang Hancock out to dry and achieved that, BUT it will be interesting to see Hancock's evidence in two weeks time. I agree lockdown was over due but no Party had the required knowledge or experience to deal with a pandemic, I'd further suggest that this whole episode show's the inadequacy of Whitehall and the men in suits who follow out of date guidance rather than thinking outside the box to deliver the required objectives.
  13. Yes, also got this text message, thought it strange that FHRGP was now "shouting" at its patients. I'm actually beginning to think what is the point of this GP surgery as they are not even apparently seeing patients. The practice appears to go through more troughs than peaks. Siduhe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Did anyone else registered at Forest Hill Road GP > get a slightly ranty and misspelled message from > the practice today about vaccine passports? 14. Your argument doesn't stand as both Lewisham and Catford have bus services close to the shopping areas. Suggest you must try harder in future when picking such poor examples. Now back to the matter in hand, with both Consort Road temporarily closed due to a shooting at the weekend, and Rye Lane closed, where is all the traffic diverting, that's right straight through East Dulwich making the situation there a thousand times worse. Simple, if Rye Lane was open this would not be the case. It's time to stop the inconvenience and re-open Rye Lane BEFORE it turns into a ghost town, where are The Specials when you need them???
  15. Signs such as these are not cheap, from my previous experience having dealt with xpress signs in the past, they are really good quality and I have to say at ?5 a sign that's a good price.
  16. There is a huge car park behind Rye Lane opposite the junction by Bournemouth Road where Coles and Wimpy used to be.
  17. I know someone who's OH took out Equity Release not fully appreciating the consequences of what they were doing and the debt has now escalated to such an extent that when the house is eventually sold, the ER firm will walk away with at least 25% of its current value, say if it were sold today. The ER firm naturally do very nicely out of such an agreement, with the interest calculated on a compound basis. So, unless your aunt is OK with that, from what I've seen, try and steer well clear from equity release at all costs. The only winner is the ER company, everyone else loses. I hope your aunt is OK and you can arrange the necessary care for her remaining years. I also know someone who went into a dementia care home and whilst the care was very good, it was extremely expensive for her family to pay for. I saw her deteriorate over a nine year year period in both her physical and mental health. It was a very sad end and upsetting to see people have to live under a dementia regime that effectively removes their freedoms, with (DOLLs) Deprivation of Liberty Orders being applied to them.
  18. Malambu "Jazzer, you straplines are doing my head in", Well ain't that a shame "I am looking for some subliminal messages but not sure." - Their are none. "The Post Office closed four years ago before Covid". - Yes "Replacing utilities is nothing to do with closing roads for traffic." Yes it is when it resulted in the Lane being closed to through traffic "Rye Lane was not a through road in any case". WrOnG, yes it WaS "Such views are rather mistaken." No they aren't
  19. Which road do you suggest beginning to demolish?
  20. Rye Lane was shut without consultation to traffic because of covid to allow greater self distancing, well it can be re-opened just as quickly without consultation as well. Why should I be inconvenienced to walk from the Heaton Arm's to the bottom of Rye Lane to go to the Aylsham or to Lidl and then have to walk back with two bags of shopping. Why not re-instate the buses as they were before? Southwark have failed on several occasions already to close of the lane to traffic when they installed the non working pop up and down bollards, then the fiasco of the gas mains being replaced and before that Thames Water. All resulted in the closure of Rye Lane and great inconvenience to a lot of people. The closure is slowly killing the remaining businesses in Rye Lane, the snooker hall closed because it was difficult to get deliveries, the Post Office closed as well, people no longer feel safe at night, the graffiti "artists" are having a field day there. The traffic has been moved from Rye Lane to Copeland Road 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, how do you think they feel about all the extra traffic they now have to endure? Moving the extra traffic from one road to another Ain't the answer or the solution. You may not mind the inconvienience but guess what, I do, so BrInG bACk ThE BuSeS.

  22. Still people are travelling on buses NOT wearing masks today, even for short journeys. I am tiring of people not wearing a face covering, or using them as chin straps. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Totally agree, well stated Spartacus
  24. Simple:- Please wear; A face covering on public transport. In shops and enclosed spaces (other than your own home or a visitors home. Get both your Covid jabs and finally Treat others as you like to be treated And be kind to each other
