  1. bit of a trek from ED station too cox's walk even for a rat!!
  2. Two Police cars on blues outside Barclays bank on Lordship Lane - could have been the bank or one of the shops on that side nearby, hope all is well.
  3. Totally agree Taper Was referred to Kings in 11/20 by a GP at FHRGP. The GP had made a referral purely based on the numbers rather having considered the patient history. After six months of worry, it turns out the GP's referral was unnecessary. Had they done a bit of checking themselves or even bothered phoning the unit in Kings to discuss the figures and case history the referral would have been required. The GP has wasted both my and the hospitals time. Thanks FHRGP for the six moths of worry you caused through a mis diagnosis, it looks like he is no longer a GP at FHRGP. Phew!

It wasn't an off the shelf shed, it was built to fit a specific area in the garden
  5. Re: shed floor, on the concrete run some thin joists across and on top of that have a wooden floor laid. I had a remnant from Berts https://www.burts.co.uk/ which means I 'm not walking on a cold wood or concrete floor, it makes sweeping and cleaning it easy.
  6. I am saddened to hear of your experience at the practice, I'd hoped things had improved a tad, clearly similar issues remain which they clearly are unable to resolve. That being the case I cannot see how the standard of care can be considered to be good by the regulator CQC. Perhaps its worth making them aware of the issues you describe as well as Southwark CCG. The practice is supposed to put patients care first, sounds as though its anything but. As an aside why have they still not published the most recent patient group minutes. The last set a re a single A4 page of quite frankly garbage.
  7. Suggest a 200mm concrete base, will prevent anything i.e. foxes digging underneath it. Good luck. Had the same done in 2019. Makes a world of difference for storage of garden items plus other bits and bobs plus a place to do simple repairs rather than on the dinning room table. Also I'd recommend windows on three sides to get as much natural daylight in, double doors for easy access of anything big and racking along once side as a storage option. As for the roof, mine had a pent rubber roof which comes on a roll (used Skyline roofing in Brockley Cross) and that should last about 20 years. If your cladding it and want to protect the wood, their is a product called Sikkens, https://www.google.com/search?q=Sikkens&rlz=1C1AOHY_en-GBGB708GB708&oq=Sikkens&aqs=chrome..69i57.1286j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Not the cheapest, but well worth the extra cost(Brewers were the cheapest at the time). Hope that helps, it goes to plan and works out.
  8. Bump it out of the way
  9. Ambulance and Paramedic response vehicle waited in Grove Vale waited for the Police who came in several cars with sirens going. Buses came to a halt and then was white tapped off. Did hear what sounded like a helicopter, presumably the Air Ambulance flying over. This happened about 4.30pm ish.
  10. Please support saving parts of Brenchley Gardens from development, everything helps bounce the council's plans. It's happening in other boroughs, locally in Lewisham, at Greystead Road and between Horniman Drive and Honor Oak Road. Other parts of Forest Hill have also been identified for potential development. The louder the council's hear residents objecting to their plans the more chance their is of these plans being over turned. Please, Please help in anyway you can to save the green space. Once it's been developed the green space is lost forever.
  11. Thames Water have written again stating the works are being delayed and will now commence on Monday 26th April for (12) twelve weeks.
  12. Yep, as above also really sorry to hear this as well. Having done a quick google on the model of the car it looks absolutely beautiful. After all the hard work you've put in you're rightly gutted and fed up, but don't let this stop you. Those people who have done the things you describe are truly despicable. I hope you get the hub caps back. Take care.
  13. The letter states; "our work on Forest Hill Road will start at the junction of Woodvale. We will then be working on Forest Hill Road in 100 meter sections to the junction of Mundania Road. To complete our works, we'll have lane closures in place on Forest Hill Road supported by 2 way traffic lights. A 3 way traffic light system will be in place on Forest Hill Road when our works are at the junctions of Marmora Road, Therapia Road and Mundania Road." +Ve - The TfL website still shows NO diversion for the 363, (thankfully) and still running along Forest Hill Road. It'll be chaotic.

  15. Thames Water have written again stating the works are being delayed and will now commence on Monday 26th April for (12) twelve weeks. Thames Water begin water mains renewal works on Forest Hill Road for (12) twelve weeks, starting 12th April, this coming Monday. The Transport for London website states; "FOREST HILL ROAD, SE23: Due to roadworks, from 19:00 on 9 April to 19:00 on 7 May, Route 63 buses will be starting and terminating at Peckham Rye." Am assuming that the 363 will divert Lordship Lane, Barry Road, Peckham Rye both ways as was previously the case when TW repaired the burst on Forest Hill Road earlier in the year and subsequently when they worked on Woodvale. Currently no disruptions reported on the TfL website for the 363, so it may be running?? Effectively from Forest Hill Road, those that rely on public transport are isolated. No prior warning or consultation with local residents who will be affected by these works by TW. I would further suggest traffic will become significantly worse with motorists seeking alternative routes to avoid Forest Hill Road. It will be of great inconvenience for those wanting to get to Peckham or further North, or for any appointments at Kings College Hospital, particularly as we are still within the pandemic. The named contact on the letter for any questions is [email protected]
  16. How about emergency vehicles, how are they supposed to get from one end to the other of LL, plus the buses, plus lorries delivering stock to businesses on LL, and the elderly who rely on public transport to access shops etc, I doubt the traders will be happy with such a proposal. It is an impractical idea. You've seen how Peckham is withering having had this imposed on it, well if you want to watch and see LL wither, carry straight on. Any imposed cycle lanes reduce road widths, increase standing traffic, raising pollution levels, increasing journey times, people wake up, this is not a feasible idea.
  17. Or who won Masterchef which the Final was due to be aired this evening, wiped from the schedule and antie beeb doesn't have the courtesy to say when it will be broadcast. It does not necessitate both BBC 1 and BBC 2 broadcasting simultaneously the same content, BBC4 suspended for 24 hours and what happened to the Women's football match which was due to be screened this evening, duly wiped from the schedule. Their is only so much that can be said about his death and tribute, show it by all means, but once shown it doesn't need to be broadcast continuously for 12 hours.
  18. Looks like most are preparing to open having seen lights on as I went past this morning (Shelter was still closed)
  19. loads left over in DKH Sainsbury's Last year, maybe they got wise and didn't over order this year?

Rye Lane isn't just a story > of "council mismanagement" or pedestrianisation - > it's a 19th/20th century retail streetscape that > doesn't match 21st century needs. Can't argue with that, other names I missed from Rye Lane was Kennedy's - ham, cheese, pies and other glorious items, BSM, Dunn & Co, The bag shop, Wimpy bar, Fads (decorating store), The Post Office, Dewhurst the butchers next door (double fronted shop), Finfare supermarket (probably one of the first supermarkets for what we take supermarkets to be today, Tesco (originally close to where the Barclays bank was at the top of the lane), Cooperative at the top of the lane and in its day it was huge, three or four shop fronts at least and a couple of floors high, Austins, the very old photographic shop on the corner of Choumart Road, British Gas showroom next door, London Electricity Board show room on the other corner of Choumart road, the Heaton arms, The Kings Arms pubs, the original Woodfalls opticians on the other side of Rye Lane, the record shop around the corner (can't remember its name, was run by a woman). It was sad to see the likes of Whittens go (although expensive) they were convenient and had a captured market as no other timber yards where in the locality. As you say the market has changed, the demographics of Peckham changed, and it is what is now. As landlords charge exorbitant rent's they ultimately suffer with leaseholders who cannot afford the rent demands and it results in empty properties not producing a regular monthly passive income. They lose, the leaseholder loses and the consumer loses. Just showing my age now.
  21. The closure is resulting in fewer people using it for shopping, what it was intended for. Unfortunately we are seeing the slow and gradual decline of Rye Lane as a place to go shopping. Just think back years ago when it was home to the likes of Woolworths, Halfords, M&S, C&A, Jones & Higgins, Holdrens, Times furniture - it was huge, Austins, Coles, Tobacconist, Deli under the station, Personally only use Rye Lane for the banks, Asda and Morrisons, Lidl and Sports Direct + Iceland occasionally. Otherwise not much else of any interest there anymore. It needs more footfall but with it closed off I fear more empty shops.
